Recently revived KORE makes its 'krazy' video debut
34
We initially dismissed Zoink and SnapDragon Games' KORE when it popped back into the news a few months ago -- after all, how good could a game that was initially designed for the original Xbox, cancelled, then revived for the Wii possibly be? Our hopes for the title were admittedly low -- however, a pair of videos for the redesigned platformer, including the trailer above and an 11-minute gameplay montage (embedded after the break), recently made their way onto GameTrailers ... and into our hearts.
Okay, we're still not entirely sold on KORE quite yet, but the robo-platforming and Psychonauts-esque visuals are more than enough to pique our collective interest. We'll be keeping an eye on the resuscitated title as its ambitious developers continue revamping it -- we just hope they kan limit the inkorrekt usage of the letter K. It upsets the English majors among us.

Man... If I had a Wii I'd definitely get this game. I'm used to adventure platformers like this on the playstation. It's sad that this game won't sell... It has no mini games.

The style reminds me of Psychonauts, I may give it a try.

I was thinking it looked like the bastard child of Spore and the original Crash Bandicoots... and directed by Tim Burton.

Loos good... it looks like Psychonauts, but it also reminds me a little bit like American McGee Alice in some parts.
I'm diggin the art style, and the enemy design, but I don't like the main characters design.
Nice visuals.

I tend to like platformers, but I'm not seeing anything that really stands out and makes me excited. But it sure does look good, graphically speaking.
...but only Tim Burton can do that kind of art style and get away with it. I can't say I'm a huge fan of that style of character design and such.
Still, it's one to watch. It's a potentially good looking Wii game with effort put into it, even if it was initially meant for Xbox.

Wow, I was afraid of saying anything negative here... glad to see I'm not the only one lacking in that "blown away" notion. In the gameplay video, they keep repeating the same moves and tricks over and over and seems to lack the gameplay variety of Mario Galaxy.
I won't render final judgement until later though. After all, it's still early.

How exactly does it look good, graphically speaking? It looks like an original Xbox game. Because it is. That's not 'good' unless you haven't played any games in 5 years...

I'd say it looks good because the palette and design seems to be putting forth a hell of a lot more effort than most other Wii projects.

That's the same thing people have said about a game on a nintendo system since the N64. The system should be treated the same as the other two, as the nintendo fanboys want it to, but when it comes to graphics..or even just gameplay it's always "that looks good for a wii game".

Its got a great style. Thats why the graphics are great.
You won't beleive how far a great style can go. Rayman 2 doesn't have that great of graphics compared to games today, but its style is amazing allowing the graphics to age well. I'll say that Rayman 2 looks better than most any game released today purely on its style. I'll even say the same for various other games.
Halo 2 on the other hand was praised for its graphics at the time. Have you played it recently? It looks like complete garbage. The models and textures look awful, and theres barely anything stylistically interesting to save it. Something tells me Gears of War and Halo 3 will suffer the same fate in a year or two.

N64, huh? Then why were some of the most grapically impressive games last generation on the GameCube? While I agree that the whole "it looks good for Wii" mantra is annoying, nobody was ever saying "that looks good for GameCube".

There's something to be said for beauty, and style Megadanxzero. It requires more power to push Gears of War's graphics than KORE's. But KORE's look better, because instead of looking brown, they look beautiful.

Not sure if the game is any good or not, but it is already in the running for Best Looking Wii game. Too bad more titles on Wii don't look this good.
