The Force Unleashed demo coming Thursday to XBLM and PSN
If the recent cavalcade of video previews for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was enough to whet your appetite for some midichlorian-infused carnage, then we've got great news: LucasArts recently confirmed that they will be following through with their promise to bring a demo for the title to the XBLM and PSN this month -- a playable preview will be downloadable via the two services starting Thursday, August 21.
The demo takes place during one of the first levels in the game, known as the "TIE Fighter Construction Facility" -- we assume it's the same area featured in the recent batch of previews for the title. It will also contain a training mode which will allow the player to get a firm grasp on the Force Grip power. However, we know the question that's on everyone's mind -- will any of those adorable Ewoks be present? We can only hope.

Hopefully he's cooler than in SCIV.
tmacairjordan87 @ Aug 17th 2008 8:36PM
I'll be sure to download it first thing in the morning providing this stupid hurricane that's coming doesn't knock my power out the day before. I don't think this game will keep my attention for very long, as it doesn't appear to be a very deep or lengthy game but I'll give it a shot.
Sesur @ Aug 17th 2008 8:41PM
ZOMG I am really excited to try what may finally be another great star wars game!
Obie @ Aug 17th 2008 8:44PM

theturtle363 @ Aug 17th 2008 9:03PM
I cant believe people would want to kill ewoks. Everytime i watch the one try to wake up his dead friend in RotJ i cry
P7 @ Aug 17th 2008 9:12PM
Someone had to kill that Ewok to make you cry... right? ;)
Obie @ Aug 17th 2008 9:16PM
I'd much rather kill Jar Jar. "Jar-Jar makes the Ewoks look like fuckin' Shaft!"

theturtle363 @ Aug 17th 2008 9:17PM
i will make those stormtroopers pay!
JS Beckerist @ Aug 18th 2008 9:33AM
Obie: In Star Wars: The Complete Saga you get an achievement for killing Jar Jar like, 20 or 30 times.
That was one of the only ones I got (see: wanted to do) before I sent the rental back
Neebs @ Aug 17th 2008 9:14PM
Interesting.
derek @ Aug 17th 2008 9:21PM
Lol, I live in Florida too...stupid hurricane Fay!! Atleast it might rule out a few extra days of school!!
Hopefully, one day, LucasArts will finally grow a pair, and realize that Star Wars is just for adults is it as for children.
Dont worry everyone. It wont be long before the council makes you a Jedi Master....GAME.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Aug 17th 2008 9:34PM
awesome. I really want to try this game.
j.howlett @ Aug 17th 2008 9:44PM
now i have to start deleting stuff to make room. 1942 your first to go.
NukeAssault @ Aug 17th 2008 10:06PM
lol ditto. I probably don't have space for it either.
Vault @ Aug 18th 2008 10:44AM
I surprisingly have more than 25 gigs left on my hard drive, I predicted I'd be full by this point in time. Apparently I don't download every demo that comes out (o r even buy downloadable games anymore, for that matter)
capt_carl @ Aug 18th 2008 2:40PM
This is why I'm glad I have an Elite. I would've filled the old 20gb drive by now twice over.
JeepersCreepers @ Aug 18th 2008 5:39PM
I do this thing called "managing my hard drive space" - It's a practice I've been doing for years. Just delete shit when you no longer use it... Like demos for games you already own.
theturtle363 @ Aug 17th 2008 9:45PM
this game is going to be great i think, i just wish dismemberment was allowed like Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast or Academy
Ihavepants @ Aug 17th 2008 10:02PM
Again, it was never allowed on the console versions, and guess what... this on consoles.
theturtle363 @ Aug 17th 2008 10:04PM
nooooo!
ice~ @ Aug 18th 2008 6:53AM
actually it may be a cheat code or option, it was in other games
Ihavepants @ Aug 18th 2008 8:58AM
Yes ice, ON THE PC VERSION WHICH ALLOWED THE CONSOLE COMMAND. It is possible that a cheat exists for Unleashed but very, very unlikely.
rv @ Aug 18th 2008 10:49AM
saberrealisitic combat 20
haha, jedi outcast was the shit. Also, it made boss battles pretty sweet when fighting a dark jedi/sith. The first to hit the other won, which was realisitic and made them tense. That was cool stuff.
Snowblind @ Aug 18th 2008 11:18AM
Dismemberment WAS in the Xbox version of Jedi Academy.
Phillip @ Aug 17th 2008 9:48PM
Nintendo needs a way to get demos in our hands.
EKAJ13 @ Aug 17th 2008 9:59PM
Does this game have co-op at all?
I just want a sequel to Jedi Power Battles. I don't care how bad everyone says it was. It was a fun co-op game.
theturtle363 @ Aug 17th 2008 10:09PM
that really was a great game, i never even heard a bad thing about it
David @ Aug 18th 2008 1:30AM
I had. But it didn't stop me from playing it over and over again. Mace Windu owns in that game.
CJLopez @ Aug 18th 2008 1:05PM
Only Wii version has, and it's no co-op but duel
XGM @ Aug 17th 2008 10:16PM
Well you guys said on the podcast its pretty fun, so im pumped to try it out.
Red Leader @ Aug 17th 2008 10:19PM
For a while, I was completely not interested in Unleashed because it wasn't another Jedi Knight game. Then I watched some of the early videos showing off the new engine mechanics, and I was intrigued. Time was closing in on the release date, and I was getting kinda pumped. Then I saw the new trailers today.
I'll pass on this one. It just doesn't look like fun.
Aaron @ Aug 18th 2008 12:06AM
Wonderfully nonsensical.
Vegnagun bwf @ Aug 18th 2008 11:39AM
You went in a complete circle there; good show!
Red Leader @ Aug 18th 2008 12:13PM
Thank you Bevis and Butthead, that was the point.
The early videos had a lot of potential, but that doesn't mean I was ready to buy the game. I figured with all the time inbetween they could create a really magnificent game. The new trailers are practically the same as the originals. There's nothing new, and game doesn't look any better than before.
Now kill yourself if that doesn't make sense to you.
Dr Scientist @ Aug 17th 2008 10:55PM
Is it just me, or is that one of the most retarded positions in which to hold a light saber. Looks like it would be awkward to get it from there to attacking without slicing yourself. But, if anyone can prove otherwise, please do.
Richie @ Aug 17th 2008 11:08PM
He uses the lightsaber form "Shien". It's based off of actual martial arts techniques in real life, and it's also part of Star Wars canon. So it's not like the developers just decided to make a new way to use the lightsaber.
David @ Aug 18th 2008 1:33AM
Adi Gallia holds it like that.
God damn, I can't believe I actually know this.
kris @ Aug 18th 2008 2:18PM
Holding a blade that way is actually quite effective for stabbing.
Dr Scientist @ Aug 18th 2008 7:56PM
Cool, thanks for the replies. But it still looks to be unsafe to get from that position to attacking with the blade out =P...
Badger_badger_badger @ Aug 17th 2008 11:00PM
Someone tell him he's holding his lightsaber the wrong way.
Trickob @ Aug 17th 2008 11:19PM
so I just saw the "Badger" vid for the first time last night. My wife just about had a heart attack from laughing everytime they went "mushroooom, mushrooom!"
kris @ Aug 18th 2008 2:18PM
that's actually based on an actual blade technique that has it's own advantages/disadvantages.
J.G.F. @ Aug 17th 2008 11:34PM
Hey, if they have the Balls to release a demo of this game, maybe it is good. They don't have to release a demo, they have the StarWars brand so you know it is guaranteed to sell a couple million regardless.
Just my 2 cents. Looking forward to downloading this on Thursday.
Bobby S. @ Aug 18th 2008 12:40AM
This thursday will be the day we can judge for ourselves.
I am really looking forward to this game but there is something that I am worried about.
Because this game is such a big multiplatform game that is coming out for every device that can play games (including the iPhone!) I'm afraid that it may not be polished all around.
Like there have been many games that had good promises, the game didn't really deliver what was promised BECAUSE it was rushed out for many platforms.
I'm not doubting the developers, I'm doubting the fact that the game is going to be rushed to meet the deadline.
It looks good, and I'm hoping for the best but what I'm afraid of when reading and watching reviews is that it gets a decent score only because of technical bugs, errors, and flaws.
r0kk3rz @ Aug 18th 2008 4:45AM
what? Lucasarts rushing to release an unfinished game? surely this has never happened before.
*recalls KOTOR II*
Ihavepants @ Aug 18th 2008 9:01AM
That would be Obsidian that made Kotor2.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Aug 18th 2008 12:50AM
(Raises hands and lets out a happy wookie roar)
J.Goodwin @ Aug 18th 2008 12:51AM
Unless I can force choke ewoks, I'm not sure what they add gameplaywise.
Who am I kidding, I'm not buying this anyway.
