Lara tackles Thailand in new Tomb Raider: Underworld trailer
We're pretty sure we see the first location from the game to be revealed – rain-drenched Mayan ruins – and a tease at a return of the nefarious bad-girl, Natla, from Tomb Raider: Anniversary in there. Also: giant spiders, giant octopus, and giant statues of Norse Gods, the mythology of which (Thor's hammer, in particular) factors heavily in the game's plot as Lara continues her quest to find Avalon.
To coincide with the video reveal of Tomb Raider: Underworld's Thai locale, Eidos has released a new batch of screens showcasing the level's sheer jungle-y, ruin-y, tiger-y splendor. Check them out in our updated gallery below.

I know a few things she can "tackle"
Sorry that was immature and lame.
Isaac @ Aug 18th 2008 5:41PM
This is the internet.
I would be surprised if a comment wasn't immature and lame.
Dirty @ Aug 18th 2008 5:43PM
Sophomoric... that's a better word for it.
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Aug 18th 2008 5:19PM
Do want. Immediately.
Jerk Face @ Aug 18th 2008 5:52PM
My thoughts exactly, pal. I have never been a huge Tomb Raider fan, but that trailer has me more than intrigued!
Cheapo @ Aug 18th 2008 5:26PM
"Some ruins should never be discovered"
Okay then, I won't play it?
Microswirl (MKWii:1676- 4270-3674) @ Aug 18th 2008 8:58PM
Maybe the goal is to use stealth to avoid as many ruins as possible. If a ruins gets a [!] over its head then it's time to break out your weapons. Don't kill TOO MANY ruins, though, because then the ruins price on ruins will go up too high for ruins and ruins ruins...
... and really, that just ruins the whole game.
blehh @ Aug 18th 2008 5:26PM
this made me hungry for pad thai.
caserb @ Aug 18th 2008 5:30PM
I'll only play this if there's a whole level where Lara has to pretend to be an underage prostitute for elderly white business men....
Okay, kidding. I'll rent this game and beat it in two or three days like every other Tomb Raider game that's ever existed. I wish I hadn't actually bought Anniversary, even if it was just for 20 bucks...
Senor Facekick @ Aug 18th 2008 5:36PM
Okay, I wasn't before but I'm pretty excited about this game now. not as excited as I am about, say, Fallout 3 or Mirror's edge, but this has officially reached "I will play it" status.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 18th 2008 5:38PM
Some game should never be bought.
Can anyone say framerate issues and wassup with the cinematics. For example stop at 1:50 and it looks like a Psone or Dreamcast cinematic.
/End Nerd observations.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 18th 2008 5:39PM
*games.
Anticrawl @ Aug 18th 2008 9:12PM
Pointing out framerate issues in embedded streaming videos is like pointing out that wedding cake bought from Walmart's bakery isn't very good.
Thatoneguy64 @ Aug 18th 2008 5:38PM
More like Thigh Land
J.Goodwin @ Aug 18th 2008 5:40PM
I really want to play this.

Dan J @ Aug 18th 2008 10:28PM
Agreed; the cinematics looked horrifyingly dated.
hhhenryhhh @ Aug 18th 2008 5:42PM

Henry @ Aug 18th 2008 5:49PM
Ugh, what happened to the realistic Lara from Legend? She looks like she did in TR2 now. :(
arhain @ Aug 18th 2008 5:52PM
hah I sure hope her boobs will be big enough to distract me from her face. like in 1:26.
juju187 @ Aug 18th 2008 6:32PM
lara underwent plastic surgery
Chris @ Aug 18th 2008 6:07PM
I had given up on Tomb Raider until Crystal Dynamics took the series back over. I fell in love with it all over again after Legend and Anniversary came out. I thought those were both absolutely terrific games. I want Underworld NOW!!!!
AwesomeTown @ Aug 18th 2008 5:58PM
Man, how many more undiscovered ruins are there in this planet?
Anyway, looks pretty good. I enjoyed legend, and considering this trailer is my only evidence, this game could be even better.
J @ Aug 18th 2008 7:26PM
To kill a god, eh? Better give Kratos a call.
mundox @ Aug 18th 2008 7:57PM
Looks like it will be a good game :)
Nightvortez @ Aug 18th 2008 8:31PM
Looks amazing, they've pretty much took the artstyle from the cutscenes straight out of the original, which is a very good thing.
Can't say I want Natla back though, if that's who it was at the end.
Churchy @ Aug 18th 2008 11:24PM
Hopefully its the popcorn sumer action flick like Legend was, I played Legend again after watching Indy 4, and it really did have a great pacing and good story, sort of like what Indy 4 didnt have.
xeleion @ Aug 19th 2008 12:33AM
"I need Thor's Belt to get his HAMMA. And I need his HAMMA to killa god!"
I love you, Lara. Say it again one more time.
Gundam HAMMA!
HAMMA Time!
Hahahahaha, I'm retarded.
Mike M. @ Aug 19th 2008 1:29AM
That was zetta cheesy.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Aug 19th 2008 2:33AM
No no... seriously, STOP.
Hammer time!
Clutch_beast @ Aug 19th 2008 1:32AM
Calling the "undergound nazi laboratory infested with horribly horribly mutated by some sort of unexplained curse" surprise twist right now.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Aug 19th 2008 2:32AM
I have to give props to the dudes behind the level design.
