New games this week: Too Human edition
Wow, we can't believe we finally got to type that headline. This week, we get to welcome one of the few games that's actually older than Joystiq itself: Too Human, Denis Dyack's epic story of cybernetically enhanced, Norse-inspired technogods.
Elsewhere in the gameosphere, PS3 owners can download the new Ratchet and Clank adventure, and PC players can buy Two Worlds: Epic Edition, the title of which just ripped off our Irony Meter and kicked it down three flights of stairs.
Xbox 360:

(ps: im buying the game)
also what make two worlds epic edition so epic?
John Z @ Aug 18th 2008 8:42AM
It's OVER 9000!!@!, obviously.
RanWitScissorz @ Aug 18th 2008 8:42AM
I think they included the XBL content they released, so now the pile of crap is a little bigger.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 18th 2008 10:25AM
Pff Too human.
Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm FTW.
(I'll wait for the reviews also that I'm not really going to buy anything new until a few weeks)
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Aug 18th 2008 8:44AM
Watching Dyack's head explode on Gaf is going to be even more hilarious than the tragic rant on the 1up podcast.
WhoMe @ Aug 18th 2008 8:47AM
Yeah that segment was something else huh. >.<
Poor, poor Dennis.
Noshino @ Aug 18th 2008 8:48AM
haha, he hasn't gone back to GAF for so long...
btw, did you hear the latest Full Moon Show? there is an interview with Dyack...
BananaBoat @ Aug 18th 2008 10:12AM
The guy can talk for hours and say absolutely nothing. It's an incredible skill.
My balls are on the table...and I'm calling... 100k sales on day one, and sales not exceeding 1mil this fiscal year.
tmacairjordan87 @ Aug 18th 2008 12:19PM
Dyack's head is already near exploding. I've only seen 1 review so far and it was from the new game informer and they gave it like a 6.75 and a 7 for the second opinion or something very close to that.
Of course, GAF had a field day with it. After playing the demo it really felt like a 6 though and that's too bad cause I was looking forward to it. Either way it looks like the 360 has its Lair.
Lars @ Aug 18th 2008 1:27PM
I loved that segment on 1UP! They should have more heady interviews.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Aug 18th 2008 1:39PM
Lars, it wasn't an interview though, it was a rant. Which, when it all comes down to it said "People should be nicer to people online cause people get feelings hurt online."
That wasn't a heady interview, basically it was saying rather than allowing people to SEE what a mass of incoherent and insulting tripe the internet has on offer, we should protect people from this. As if it's OUR social responsibility to be apologetic and completely sensitive to others while online. In general it was supporting the same kind of notion that's essentially creating an entire generation of pussies and THAT'S far more damaging than naughty words or a neogaf title.
Let's put it this way, bacteria is getting much stronger because our society is using a hell of a lot more antibacterial products. We're forcing evolution in the things that CAN kill us and in areas where this concept is foreign, you'll actually find most children and adults have much stronger immune systems than what we find here in the states. Apply this to how schools are teaching athletics nowadays. No one is allowed to win so suddenly children are incapable of losing (thankfully video games online have largely reversed the damage this system is doing to our kids). Same thing online.
Hell, look at me. How many times am I flamed on here or 1/2 starred? Likewise, how many times do I flame others? I get flamed, I think "Well that's a dick thing to say" and move on. Meanwhile, Dyack essentially said the girl who offed herself cause she was trolled on MySpace should BE defended. Fuck that, she's weak and we KNOW she was receiving far harsher words in real life.
In essence, his entire rant was just about how "Dyack was right on the gaf."
Microswirl (MKWii:1676- 4270-3674) @ Aug 18th 2008 5:12PM
I was able to level grind 30 levels in Rachet & Clank: FToD while listening to that bizarre 2-hour rant on 1up.... hehehe time well spent!
ice~ @ Aug 18th 2008 8:45AM
Omg I want galaga legions so bad but I need my points for castle crashers
I'll probably get too human also
John Z @ Aug 18th 2008 8:47AM
Ah well. Hopefully there will be some interesting WiiWare/VC--*snrk*BWAHAHAHAHA!! Sorry, I really thought I could say that with a straight face.
In all seriousness, these lulls are good once in a while. I need to get caught up on some of the games I haven't touched yet.
Fernando Rocker @ Aug 18th 2008 8:55AM
Megaman 1 on VC.
John Z @ Aug 18th 2008 9:12AM
Sorry, I can't respond properly right now. Both my feet are jammed into my mouth.
t_m @ Aug 18th 2008 10:36AM
you type with your feet???? cool!
Delgado @ Aug 18th 2008 2:24PM
That makes no sense. He can't type with his feet if his feet are in his mouth.
Dammit people, pay attention.
FOXHOUND @ Aug 18th 2008 8:48AM
Now if it was "SUPER PICK UP *LINES*", maybe it might be a hilarious WiiWare purchase...
ZenGaijin @ Aug 18th 2008 8:48AM
I'll be renting this from work Tuesday. I wanted to see if the game gets better as you go along.
AwesomeTown @ Aug 18th 2008 8:51AM
For those getting this, might as well hit up the B1G1 half off sale at TRU. For me, I'm gonna wait for Tales next week, I think.
Faar @ Aug 18th 2008 9:00AM
Ah... Nice to see too human actually releasing at last. It was meant to come out for the original playstation after all. :P
Played the demo, it seemed decent enough (though the menu system was a bit unintuitive and fiddly). I'd even buy the game if only it had come out for the PS3. I do own a 360, but those twin turbine fans just annoy the fsck out of me. Not to mention the howling banshee DVD drive. Besides, evil MS has quite enough money as it is I think, don't want to give them any more... (So why did I buy geometry wars 2 from xbl then, hmmm...?)
Fernando Rocker @ Aug 18th 2008 9:02AM

juju187 @ Aug 18th 2008 9:04AM
i dont think sony is hurting for cash either...
Dale @ Aug 18th 2008 9:38AM
The menu system seemed very Mass Effect-y. In a bad way. The demo was fun though, I'll be grabbing this.
Duke @ Aug 18th 2008 9:56AM
What a load of disingenuous bs. You don't care about Too Human at all, you just wanted an excuse to give the list of fanboy anti-360 gripes. That was the most transparent effort yet.
B @ Aug 18th 2008 9:59AM
Faar, cry somewhere else.
Dale, agreed.. the menu system seems like something I'd expect from a last gen game.
nonetheless i'm excited for this title and picking it up day one
WRE @ Aug 18th 2008 9:59AM
Didn't it actually start development on the N64?
Faar @ Aug 18th 2008 10:11AM
@ Duke:
Not true! I did in fact enjoy the demo, enough that I would buy the game had it not been for the frustrations created by the 360 system itself by being obnoxiously loud during gameplay. If you can't handle my opinions on the hardware quality of Microsoft's creation, well, that's just too bad. Speaks more about you than it does me. I'm hardly the only person thinking it makes just a bit too much noise. :P
My only real gripe with the game itself is the aforementioned menus, which really should have been streamlined and unified a lot more in both appearance and handling. They're still workable as-is though, it's nothing really fatal or anything.
Oh, and there's a bit too much in the way of cutscenes interrupting the action, but I assume that's just because it's the start of the game and that there'll be a higher buttkicking to exposition ratio further on...
Duke @ Aug 18th 2008 10:17AM
"I do own a 360, but those twin turbine fans just annoy the fsck out of me. Not to mention the howling banshee DVD drive. Besides, evil MS has quite enough money as it is I think, don't want to give them any more..."
That’s you just going through the paces. Like a guy throwing rrod into the discussion on the Wii’s game library. It has no place.
If you have such a problem with the device's hardware, then you would sell it (if you have one). No game disc is going to run better on the 360 than Too Human with reference to your above issues, which is why it’s so disingenuous. Therefore, if it’s such a plague, you could buy no games for it other than XBLA.
You are full of it - the game meant nothing to you, you just wanted to spit that little attack out for us. You were called out on it because it was obvious. Accept it. Your reversal attempt = fail.
Vcize @ Aug 18th 2008 10:21AM
"If you can't handle my opinions on the hardware quality of Microsoft's creation, well, that's just too bad. Speaks more about you than it does me."
Actually, what speaks more about you is that you paid for and STLL own a console that you refuse to turn on.
Oh, and somehow managed to play both the demo and GW2 on said console that's too loud to use.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 18th 2008 10:28AM
Weak Troll is weak.
(Needs moar rant and angst)
deaftly @ Aug 18th 2008 10:36AM
Instead of bitching about something as trivial as fan noise, just go back to playing WOW with the rest of the pc sheep
Dirty @ Aug 18th 2008 10:53AM
Fan noise and loud dvd?! Where are you playing this that the noise cant be offset by just turning up the volume. Do you live in a library, or perhaps a monastery and you don't want to bother the other monks. Or perhaps you strap the 360 to your head while your playing to keep yourself warm in the winter.
Im sorry but if "noise" keeps you from playing games you might want to reconsider your lifestyle and pick up a different hobby, like reading or yoga, something without so much noise.
I probably wont be able to hear your reply from all the explosions and gunfire coming from my tv.
baby sea tuna @ Aug 18th 2008 11:17AM
Deaftly, you totally read my mind, dude.

Faar @ Aug 18th 2008 4:17PM
Duke,
My comments on the 360 hardware has as much relevance as anything else that can be said about the game. It's a good effort, released on a poorly designed system - which is the reason I won't be buying it. If by some chance they pull an "Overlord" on this title, then yeah I'm a potential customer. I'm not going to say sorry that you don't like that I don't prefer my 360 over my PS3, you strike me as a smallminded and belligerent fanboy type person, so...shoo.
Duke @ Aug 18th 2008 5:34PM
You're a twit. I have all three systems moron and my comments were hardly the fanboy type here.
As the folks who have responded, or voted on your posts, have shown, you are full of crap and got nailed. Trolls are desperate. So call me whatever you want - you still were put in your place. Jackass.
Mal F4cti0n @ Aug 18th 2008 7:02PM
Faar, want to buy my Wii? That thing is whisper quiet. Mainly whisper quiet because I never use the thing.
I will trade you it for your 360. I have RE4 on it and have an extra wiimote and nunchuck. What games would you be giving me with your 360?
I already own a 360, but I could use another one to get my friends hooked on it so they have to buy their own.
samfish @ Aug 18th 2008 9:10AM
Well, at least Ratchet & Clank should be worth buying.
Kizzle @ Aug 18th 2008 9:12AM
With all the time in development, this is surely the best game ever made!
Right?
Solid Chief @ Aug 18th 2008 9:55AM
Can't wait for Duke Nukem Forever!
B @ Aug 18th 2008 10:02AM
You do realize the Too Human we see today has only been in development for a few years.
The Too Human concept has been on the whiteboard for 10 years with half a dozen prototypes and probably went threw every genre gaming has to offer.
T @ Aug 18th 2008 10:25AM
@B: If that's the case, I'd love to have seen the rhythm game iteration.
Too Human Hero FTW!
Jack of No Trades 85 @ Aug 18th 2008 9:19AM
Im buying Quest for Booty! My girl better not think im cheating on her lol
Kersh @ Aug 18th 2008 10:02AM
If my girlfriend thought that I was cheating on her because I had a video game called Quest for Booty, I probably would cheat on her.
t_m @ Aug 18th 2008 10:38AM
If you play a game called Quest for Booty you probably don't have a girlfriend to worry about.
;-)
koehler83 @ Aug 18th 2008 9:23AM
I'd consider Too Human if I had a Gold membership, which of course I will never buy. I don't see the appeal of dungeon crawling solo though.
If you're going to do that, you need something completely different to break up the monotony like Dark Cloud.
j.howlett @ Aug 18th 2008 9:28AM
i like SK, hope too human does well. its one of the games i plan to get when i get a 360 down the road. since people like comparing mostly unrelated things, when do we hear any more news on DNF?
Dig @ Aug 18th 2008 9:36AM
Dracula 3: Path of the Dragon ?
...
Ooookay.
