If you're the sort who can tell your GPU from your PPU (doesn't that fit into the SKU?), you should be pleased to note that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky will feature support for both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 chipsets. You'll be wanting those hideously deformed mutants to look their best when they tear your throat out.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky is done, shipping Sept. 5

With the sun setting on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. prequel Clear Sky's development, GSC Game World has let us know that it's finally safe to venture outside -- provided you're packing enough firepower to keep the ravenous and irrevocably irradiated hordes at bay. The anticipated FPS is finally dawn done and should be taking us for a first-person stroll through Chernobyl's utterly charming neighborhood on September 5th (yes, that counts as a minor delay).

The delay kind of sucks, but oh well - it's only a week.
I'm sure the small wait will be worth it. Clear Sky looks, from what I've seen of it, really, really good.

I really like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but it crashes too much for me to really get into it. My computer handles it beautifully (when it works)... but the game likes to make it reset all the time for some reason.

First one was pretty good. Might pick it up since it's before the fall avalanche. I just hope they spent more time fixing the bugs in this one. If there was one major problem with the first title, it's that it was buggy as hell.

Sept. 5, eh? Ok, so I have exactly 48 hours to buy, and beat this game before Warhammer 2 Open Beta... I should do live streaming video of my marathon play session.

It's really not hard.
STALKER could be done in eight hours if you stopped all the exploring bullshit and got straight to the story. It could also probably be done in less than 3 hours if you knew what you were doing(hidden special weapons, shortcuts etc.)

There is no fucking way I'm downgrading to vista, and microsoft will never enable DX10 for XP. Thus, I have no reason to upgrade my video card until Windows 7 comes out. I just hope it can handle all of the games that come out between now and W7

Woho,
Great news, I loved the first installment, but I'm not standing very good with my hardware :s. I barely beat the first one with about 10 fps outside, and about 25 fps inside.
I'm too much of a retro gamer :D
