If you can't wait to get your hands on Warhammer Online, EA announced today that an open beta for the game will kick off Sept. 7, giving you a whole 11 days to play before the general populace sullies it on Sept. 18.
So, how do you get in? Just pre-order the game with one of EA's "select retail partners." (We don't know who they are yet, but even money says GameStop is one of them.) Also, those who are already in the closed beta will automagically be invited. So, are you getting in on the ground floor? Or have you been burned one too many times by start-up MMOs?

When you install wow you agree that blizzard owns all the virtual content on your account. That is chars and items and so forth. Selling your game is legal, but if you sell your account you have to delete everything on it.

For the Warhammer VS. WoW argument:
Wow has horrible PvP. Especially when you compare it to the great PvE. They did very little to suppress lowbie ganking, and medium to large battle pvp was weak to say the least. The fact that it was all gear based was annoying as hell. There was no way for a first timer in battle maps to compete with the players who has the uber gear. They were usually destroyed in a few minutes flat. And the largest battles were a complete clusterfock.
Even DAoC, which over time developed big pvp problems, still had a better implementation than WoW ever did.

Blah...
Are you not tired of wow? Sure blizzared is great and so is wow. I played ever blizzard game had for years.
I loved starcraft and warcraft. but that does not mean that I never played lotr or company of heroes. People could say that cod4 is a ripoff of counter-strike. Pc games are not much to choose from these days and warhammer is coming out and I will get it just to mix it up have a new expierece. I enjoyed a pvp game better than a pve anyways so its should be fun.

WOW, does this beta suck!!!! I check at 12:20am 9/7/08. Had to go to fileplanet and get inline... only 680 minutes to wait for d/l to start. Started around 11am on 9/7/8.
Great... it is now 4:20pm 9/7/8 and I am a whole 8% done w/ the 10gig d/l.
I guess I could have PAID for a fileplanet subscription so I could d/l the demo right away. But didn't know EA would cop-out using fileplanet and make those that paid for an open beta look, to have to pay again to d/l the beta and play it before the release of the game.
This is really sad. I hope it is not a sign of what to expect from the warhammer people.
I am mstly just pissed cuz I used to play the tabletop minature version and the pencil/paper roleplaying version and was really stoked for this... now just watching it SLOWLY d/l from fileplanet.
At least WOW gives out disks for you to install for trials.

I think that everyone is missing one thing on the success factor of WAR...
they have EA behind them which is away bigger comapny than blizzard with much more money to advertise and support it. i think EA is trying to make a WoW killer and im not gonna lie EA is evry successful in almost everything they make, thats how they got so huuuge
Uhh dude get your facts straight... how can you go around posting about games/IEI if you are not even aware of some basic facts? Seriously spare everyone your ignorance and go read about how Activision and Vivendi (Vivendi owns Blizzard just in case you didn't know that either) merged in a roughly 19 billion dollar deal that cements the new Activision Blizzard as the largest publisher... get a clue

As much as i dig warhammer from the artistic point of view, i'm not going to give it a try. Why? Because the combat looks slow and anticlimactic, just like WoW and the art direction, once again just like WoW, is not serious enough for a grim battle torn setting (WoW can be excused, but Warhammer?...they fucked it up in my eyes and so it doesn't uppeal to me.
In fact the gameplay looked exactly like WoW, same ugly spells, etc.. I guess their polycounts are higher and textures are fresher, whooptido.
And so no matter how intricate and exciting the world is and no matter how intricate their character evolvement is, i will not feel like a badass fighting anything and so it's a waste of intellectual property.
It will still sell like a mofo don't get me wrong, that's why EA is all over it. It's another sure-selling formula. But at this point, my tastes as a gamer are far beyond what any current big game company can muster, so it's just me.

Ummmm whoever the moron is that said it is completely legal to sell your account with the game, you are completely retarded.
When you create your account, you sign Blizzards EULA that you are not sharing your account (and/or buying/selling) to anyone (Other than you can let 1 child, must be yours, play on it from the same computer as you). It is ILLEGAL to sell your account, because it is registered in your name, and you cannot change that. You are correct it is your right to sell the GAME, but not the account. If you were to take this to court anyways, you would be laughed at. You should read their terms again.
K Thanks.
