Well, that was easy. 2K Games has complied with our subliminal request that it release the PlayStation 3 version of sublime, submerged shooter BioShock in North America on October 21. There was some mental resistance to our suggestions of a worldwide release, however, so you international folks will just have to make do with October 24.
BioShock comes to the PlayStation 3 sporting the same aquatic utopia-turned-dystopia that made the game one of 2007's best, along with Trophies, a new "Survivor" difficulty level and challenge rooms, to be released as downloadable content "shortly after launch."

Agree. Very high production value and well-organized set pieces, but the gameplay itself was weak. If you're one of the people who rambles on and on about games as 'interactive literature', you love it. If you just like games, you'll think it's pretty bad.

OR it could be that most people really liked the game, thus you got more - votes than + votes. I personally loved the game. One of the best shooters I've played in a while.

Don't worry mate. As somebody once told me, articles like this attract Pro-Bioshock Audience. Thus anything bad you write about it will always get the downhammer upon you.

I wish all exclusives follwed this example. I have a PS3, and, while I hate exclusives, I understand why the exist. I wish this became the norm: exclusive for 6-8 months, and then released on other consoles/PC. There are so many other XBox games, I would love to play, and I'm sure there is at least one PS3 game that each Xbox owner would like to play. I don't see why they wouldn't re-release games if they didn't have a contract prohibiting them. Lower development costs = more money Here's hoping!!

I guess the concept of third party exclusives is going to be dead anyway, FF13 was the last nail. MGS4 and FF13 versus will probably be the last great exclusives.

But they already have FFXIII and soon MGS4... what else would they want??? :P
I'd like to play Uncharted, KZ2, and R1&2 (I love crazy weapons)... but I don't have an HDTV so Blu Ray would be a waste... It's probably the only reason I lean toward getting a 360.
Besides the fact that everyone I know has a 360...

I hope you're right. Unless there is some hardware limitation such as a game specifically designed for the Wii, I hope exclusives cease to exist.

Too many fucking games to play. What is the service that you can keep the games for as long as you like them send it back to them in the mail? Do any of you guys use it?

I've known a few people who use(d) Gamefly and there have been mixed results. Some say they wouldn't get games and then would be charged anyway, others say it went without a hitch. I just use Gamefly to buy used games in order to save the money and have them to play on my own schedule. Best of both worlds.

I didn't like Gamefly when I had it back in aught-six. The games kept getting stolen by my shifty mailmen and the transit times were retardedly long. They've opened up an East Coast distro center, so it may be better now, but I'm so spoiled on Netflix's one-day turnaround that I probably will just wait for them to get into the games business.

My turnaround time with Gamefly is pretty fast. The biggest problem is that if you don't stay on top of things, you'll be left waiting for a long time for new releases.
Most big releases you can get right away by putting them 1st in your queue and making sure you have a game returned before the game actually releases. Then, they'll usually ship it to you on release day. If you miss that 1st shipment though, you're going to be waiting a month or so for it.

I use it, it is pretty good. have not had any issues and the delivery times have improved dramatically as they have added a few more shipping facilities around the country. Example: last friday, I put old games in mailbox after 7pm (past pick up time), new games here on tuesday. You have a list and they try to stick to your order whenever possible.

I'll be renting this from Gamefly for the trophies. I've been wanting to go through the game again, anyways.

It's really too bad PS3 owners had to wait all this time. Now that the hype train has left the station, I wonder if many of them will be able to get swept up in the game or if they'll just let their interest in it wane half-way though.
Speaking of hype-less games you'll probably never finish if you even start, I played System Shock 2 again recently. That game is still phenomenal. Even with its dated graphics, it's far scarier and creepier than Bioshock. I guess what I'm saying is that if you liked Bioshock but haven't played System Shock 2, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Seriously. You won't, because that's not how life works, but I have to urge you to anyway.
