Too late, man. It's been done. It got Jade Raymond too.

To be honest, I laughed.

I'm almost curious to see this fabled rule 34-on-Cammie which you speak of. But I'd like to keep my senses happy and functioning D:

it was bad but some people are taking it way to hard. there are the devoted fanboys who seem not to realize that they will get the gams they want soon. of course there are those who would hate nintendo no matter.

No points for honesty...just beatings for the over exaggerated glee. Well, maybe that's a bit too harsh.

"Ohhhh shoot...the puppy missed the frisbee! Haha, what great fun :)"

Okay, administer the beatings...

Damn, this story is like a boomerang

If it isn't pissed off game journalists trying to raise more flak, it's Nintendo themselves awkwardly digging themselves deeper with poor attempts at damage control

Nobody, it seems, just wants to let it die

And the "Remember Me" button doesn't work at all on this thing

At least not for me, or my browser's screwing up, because cookies and temporary files are on and up

Remember Me doesn't work for me, either. It does on Wii Fanboy, though.

Anyway, I don't think they're digging a hole. They'd admitted it sucked, acknowledged what they did wrong...I don't know what more they can do at this point.

A big fat duh coming her way. But I'm glad they saw the error of their ways. And I'm glad Joystiq pointed it out. E3 is NOT and never will be a casual gamers choice of media. Whatever message they were peddling should have been sent via snail mail, or email updates. Not the biggest hardcore gamer showcase of them all.

I really despise that woman, more so because she talked to everyone like she was a damn kindergarten teacher.

Of course Nintendo messed up at its press conference no matter what their strategic goal was (reaching the casuals).

Unfortunately casuals would be much more like to see an advertisement during some shitty TV show than an E3 press conference. Therefore the execution of the strategy was fine; but the strategy itself sucked.

I'll be honest, I'm just giving a go at the new comment system.

On topic, the primary problem is that Nintendo is courting an audience that doesn't even know E3 exists, and basically ignored the fans that are glued to live E3 broadcasts in its E3 presentation.

Yes, but as has been noted many, many times...those fans would watch ANY showing Nintendo puts on, regardless of time and place. They could put on a show that starts 10 minutes before the New Years Eve ball drop and people would STILL tune in for them.
The newer audience only is VAGUELY aware of E3, thus making it the one conference they have to reach those people and retailers.

That all said, though, it was obviously a big mistake to only focus on casual titles. But at least they realized it, which is unprecedented for a company as stubborn as Nintendo.

"That brings more money to the industry. That makes it attractive for more people to develop more games. We have to embrace the fact that new gamers can be good for everybody. Core gamers should help new gamers to discover their passion for gaming."
Like fuck, it brings more people to make more shitty shovelware, not hardcore (good) games. Fuck her and fuck Nintendo. Oh yeah and one more thing
"We were an active gaming household, but it was only six months prior to joining Nintendo that I had ever played games at all. " lolfail

Please. Ubisoft itself stated that they use that marketing model. Dogz and Babiez pave the way for the beloved Splinter Cell: Conviction and BGE2

Very, very few companies have diverted entirely to shovelware, and those are ailing companies like Atari and Majesco

That's funny cause up till now the conference was fine to them. I guess their PR department decided it was finally time to try and please us by hoping we forgot about them saying it was good.

Your best bet Nintendo is to let it go. There's no amount of damage control anyone could do to clean that shit pile up.

I'm glad Nintendo hires people with no background in the field. Keeps things interesting. Cammy has been a trainwreck so far, but I'm sure the best is yet to come.

That may be the point. Hiring a working mother with business experience, but no gaming experience, an effort to make their new philosophy more real

A horrid failure either way, but probably a deliberate one

"Points for honesty?"

Actually, yes in my book. There's nothing I hate more than when someone refuses to acknowledge their blunders. I still have a little contempt for the release schedule, but it can be remedied.

actually until now they refused to admit it was terrible. If you can remember certain classic quotes like "Why aren't core gamers happy? They have Animal Crossing and GTA for DS!"

Wrong again, Tmac.
About 10 days after E3, Iwata HIMSELF said that the conference was a blunder.

The worst part of E3 as a whole? Cammie her damn self! I mean come the hell on! That had to have been THE most uncomfortable press conference EVER! I would have rather had Kaz Harai, you know, Sony's whipping boy up there on the Big N's stage then her!

well a larger Pikmin announcement than the "oh yeah, we're working on a new Pikmin" would have made the conference better IMHO. cause most of the time, even in a bad showing, there is at least something good that you can pull from it. the Nintendo E3 2008 conference didnt have one thing that i was interested in. Pikmin would have fixed this to an extent.
