Yes you can, there will be a central server that you can load / download games to plus vote on the content.
I really hope the cave making tool is in the game, like in Crysis.

Even the the previous far cry instincts and far cry predator map editors for the xbox1 put halo 3's forge to shame! Cool editor tho I hope Far Cry 2 is as good as ever!

That's incredible! More fuel for the fire; Far Cry 2 is on my shortlist this year for sure.
They just moved the release date to October 21 from the 7th according to IGN, and that's going to be a BIG day for us gamers; Dead Space and Fable II also hit that same day.
(My birthday is the 25th...)

doesn't mean anything if the game is no good and the first one wasn't.

Well this a is a map maker not editior and Forge was never meant to be this. It was just made to tweak and edit maps even foundry had this concept in mind but due to gliches like inter/geo locking more was able to be accomplished. However with that new Halo video showing a blank blue grid. Bungie may just have a way to impliment a map "Maker" into Halo 3 and if this does happen, that would be the thing to compare with far crys MM not forge.
On another note FCs Map maker looks very good i just wonder if you will be able to co-op map make.

Well in my opinion Halo 3 is old news. It has had its fifteen minutes of fame. Far Cry 2 Map Maker puts Halo 3 forge to shame. Bungie is running out of ideas. Thats why they are putting out an RTS.

At the risk of sounding like a Halo fanboy, Forge wasn't trying to be a full level editor. It wasn't even a "level" editor. It was a collaboative object editor and it did things completely differently. If you were to collaboatively edit a map like this in Farcry 2, that would be coming close. In fact, it SHOULD be a feature, considering the complexity necesarry.
However, THIS is totally awesome. As long as we can play all manner of game types and share creations freely, this will be amazing. Can't wait.

Yes, you sound like a halo fanboy. Sorry.
Halo should have done it like this the first time. FCI:Predator did. And that came out shortly after launch. Oh, well. Maybe next time Bungie.

They had, more or less, the same exact thing for Far Cry: Instincts for the original Xbox.

Damn, that looks sweet. i expect map remakes from just about everygame. I just hope you can download maps from the net like in Halo 3 and that there will be some sort of devs picks like Bungie Favorites. I know Im just gonna make the thickest forest, and have almost everyone spawn in there, and one person outside spawns next to a flamethrower. =D

As someone who's wrestled with "easy" map editors like Unrealed, that's fucking amazing.

That is Amazing... and there's Drop in Vehicles.
I foresee some serious Autoduel map action going on out there. Heck if it doesn't exist I'll make sure to make them :)

obviously this far-exceeds what forge can do.
on the flip side, while this looks great for creating broad-swath outdoor environments, i wonder how fine-grained the controls could be for creating arenas and carefully structured environments. perhaps this doesn't apply to far cry, but in a Halo-esque world you obviously need detailed object placement to carefully craft certain environments (i.e., to ensure symmetry, sight lines, jumps, etc.) ... just saying 'create mountains here' and 'place building here' and brushing in trees doesn't do that.
nonetheless, for a FC world, very cool stuff.

Nice, very nice.
Two things... So I realize each map has a area limitation based on many variables (playability, limited memory, view distance, etc..). I'm cool with this.
My question is, why couldn't they have provided a non-playable area, outside the build-able space, which created the illusion that you were playing in a larger area as opposed to, well, i'm here at the edge of the world looking off into a white void (as is the case with all maps created using far cry's current editor)?
Think of them as non-playable, 3D, backdrops...
My second question is, what about tunnels (digging)? I hope such a feature makes it into the games Gold version.
Regardless, what I had seen is impressive. Now if they would just tell us when the thing is going to hit the shelves...

the Forge is a real-time interactive map editor. That's its appeal. That's what makes it different from every other map making tool I've seen.
You can't have multiple people editing a single map while simultaneously competing within it in Far Cary 2's editor.
you think their editor will have an "add color" option?

That's un-freaking-believable! I can't wait to see what kind of resources it takes up (hard drive space, memory, CPU usage, etc). One concern is the possiblity of a dropped framerate for such a huge map (does it have to be loaded entirely in memory, or does it load on each HDD, and then load only a limited area in the memory of the system of that user of the system). Should be great even without any story mode. This sort of idea alone may have saved Shadowrun from disappointing reviews and sales.

My mouth was agape with awe when I watched this video! I can honestly say I will be buying this game instead of burning it to DVD! I think I owe the dev team that much in support!
And whoever think's that HALO 3 will feature this is delusional at best! Forge is ....okay.... I don't really get it or have ever used it or have been online and used it with other people! Complete waste if you ask me!
Now bring on the haters and Halo fanboys with their dreams of becoming master chief! Join the military if thats what you really want! Maybe they'll test on you if your lucky!

Now I'm not a halo 3 fanboy but to critisize forge when you've never tried it is (for lack of a better word) stupid. (The halo rts is being made by ensemble btw).
The map editor looks awesome and out does all others I have ever seen. Kudos to the makers for coming up with such a clever system.
