Patrick Aiello, the producer for the upcoming film Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (starring Kristin "Lana Lang" Kreuk!), believes Street Fighter IV will launch alongside the film. Aiello tells GameDaily that the "film and game release dates will coincide." According to IMDB, the Street Fighter movie currently has a release date of February 27, 2009.
Although hardcore Street Fighter fans may be upset that the game isn't coming out at the end of this year as originally announced, there's always the option of playing it in arcades at diverse locations on this little planet.

Fenix, as if you'd be able to come up for air from Gears 2 by December anyway ;).
I know you'll be playing it for years again just like the first, but it's going to be months before you're able to take that thing out of your disc tray to even squeeze in a few minutes with another game in between Gears sessions anyway.

Seriously 2 Achievement must not happen! It must not!!! lol! If it does, you have a very good point. It'll be in my tray for a good while.

Woot! Two confirmed locations in the US! Is the US arcade version available yet? Or are these just imports?

Nah, I made the commute and played at super arcade this weekend...
1 - yes, it's amazing; it was everything I was hoping it would be, gonna be back every weekend I can possibly make the drive.
2 - the machine is not actually a SFIV cab, it's two sit-down cabs (SF3 i think?) strung together, controls seemed to be working mostly fine this weekend.

Japanese cabinets are typically two cabinets that are linked; that way you don't have to sit next to someone? Plus, if you're importing SF4, you might as well get the cabinet too; no sense in reusing an SF3 cabinet since it's all new hardware.

@Jimiisama,
Yes this is all true. However, if you take the time to read up a bit on the machines (there's lots of info on the Shoryuken forums regarding the machines) you'll see that they are indeed NOT SFIV cabs, nor are the screens high-def. I can confirm all this too because... you know... I was actually there on Sunday throwing quarters up with everyone else. TRUST ME, it's not a SFIV cab, just the board.

That's kinda gay; I was hoping for the HD. I'm sure they'll be more common once the US cabinet starts production. I was under the impression that SF4 had to be widescreen only; is the image compressed on the non-wide screens? Or do they use 480 widescreens? Letterboxed? I should probably check SRK.

I thought the game only had widescreen though; was the widescreen stretched vertically? Because it would make a difference since the screen scrolls left and right.

This sucks, but I'd prefer official confirmation from Capcom themselves. Video game film producers and directors have been known to be out of sync with the company's official plans. Oh well.

I hope to God that this producer follows the path blazed by every videogame-to-movie producer: that of being completely out of touch with the specifics of the game itself.
In this case, the specific in question is the release date.

According to EB games/Gamestop, it's also being released in February. I think it has been like that for awhile now.
