Variety: Tony Scott attached to canceled Midway game

Variety is reporting that Tony "Top Gun" Scott was similarly attached to Midway's recently canceled – albeit never announced – Austin project, Career Criminal. Of course, Midway won't confirm the information since, well, it never announced that the game existed in the first place, remember? The silver lining: Scott's free to work on our long-dreamed-of video game adaptation of The Last Boy Scout. Think about it: Bruce Willis' likeness and voice, that's the stuff hits are made of.

What is the deal with them making movies based on games that haven't come out yet (Kane and Lynch, Dead Space to a degree)? There are PLENTY of PROVEN franchises that we will give you money to see a big screen adaptation.
All this does is set up for more video game movie failures. Kane and Lynch movie comes out, bombs, and everyone is like, "Video Game movies just don't work".
Also, Max Payne, while it was a good game, does anyone REALLY feel passionately about Max Payne. The movie looks great and all, but of all the game franchises, why the hell do we get Max Payne and not... Monkey Island? Yeah I said it.

Also Top Gun was homoerotic.

I love Max Payne. Played through it a few times, both of them. The style is great. It remains to be seen if they can transfer that to the silver screen, but I was impressed by the trailer.

I don't remember Apocalypse being a hit. I thought it was a turd of a game.

I would consider paying good money for a videogame adaptation of his movie "The Hunger". Then I would reconsider and come to my senses.

Well, with the success of the Phoenix Wright series I can see a game adaptation of the Legally Blond movies...

im not a big fan of hollywood being involved in games due to the fact a good percentage of the budget goes to their wallets.

Why would they want Ridley Scott's less competent brother to attach his name to a game? It's strange how they're like polar opposites. One churns out quality movies and occasional classics, and the other churns out crappy movies with occasional quality.
