British power metal squealers DragonForce will debut a new and inevitably over-the-top single in a
Guitar Hero III track pack later this week. Taken from their new album, Ultra Beatdown, "Heroes of Our Time" will no doubt challenge serious shredders with a never-ending string of shifting notes and finger-knot solos when it arrives on Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store on August 21.
The
DragonForce Track Pack will also provide two other overwrought songs, namely "Revolution Deathsquad" and "Operation Ground and Pound," from the album dubbed Inhuman Rampage. Expect this one to go for the usual 500 MS Points ($6.25).

Good. Keep the challenging DLC coming.
Thatoneguy64 @ Aug 20th 2008 2:41AM
More like keep the crappy DLC coming.
I swear, I pity anyone who actually likes Dragonforce.
Arttemis @ Aug 20th 2008 2:59AM
Ah, I see. Your condescending tone and pity provide undeniable proof that you're far superior in taste for the arts.
Obviously differing opinions must be *wrong*.
The internet is serious business.
Thatoneguy64 @ Aug 20th 2008 4:23AM
Well, yes, when the differing opinion is that a band that is complete, utter crap is good, then yes it's wrong.
Do you know that they speed up the songs? That the vocalist can't even hit the notes that he does on the CD? That when played live, they take most of the songs down an octave so he can actually sing them?
Hell, that they can't even PLAY most of their songs?
They're all about going fast. Fast doesn't mean the music's good.
Mixaboy @ Aug 20th 2008 4:27AM
I don't mind the band, and I'm pumped to get some music that I might struggle to 5 star for a while as opposed to something I'll FC the day of release.
TWiNKiE @ Aug 20th 2008 1:51PM
I heard that they toned down Sweet Child o'Mine one note because the singer couldn't hit the notes either. Then again, I'm not to sure if that is actually true, but if it is, then I doubt it would really matter.
Kaioh @ Aug 20th 2008 2:16AM
I like Heroes of Our Time, but I would have preferred The Fire Still Burns.
Either way, I think this pack is basicly a big F**K YOU to the guy who beat Through The Fire And Flames 100%.
Give it time, though. He has no soul, he'll beat these, too. :D
scy1192 @ Aug 20th 2008 2:27AM
aww, I wish Wii had DLC T_T
willie @ Aug 20th 2008 2:27AM
I LOVE the new dragonforce track, its excellent
operation ground and pound i always thought was better than TTFAF.
Lemmiwinks (SSBBFC: 0903-2436-0891) @ Aug 20th 2008 2:33AM
dammit...
and here i just found my left pinkie under the couch last week...
Purple Haze @ Aug 20th 2008 2:38AM
You know part of what I hate about putting Dragon Force in guitar hero? They play their songs 15% slower in the studio anyway. Not to mention I think their music sucks, but that's just opinionated.
Digital Fox @ Aug 20th 2008 3:26AM
Fifteen percent? Really!? Wow, that's so noticeable it's amazing!
I've actually seen them live, and they sound pretty damn similar.
Boffo the Sock @ Aug 20th 2008 11:04AM
When you talk about slowing down music, 15% is quite a bit. 85 bpm is noticeably different from 100 bpm. Your ear may not be able to tell the difference, but I can assure you that a whole lot more people would be able to FC TTFAF if it were slowed down by 15%.
GameGuy360 @ Aug 20th 2008 3:24AM
what time will it be on xbl?
DeadPlasmaCell @ Aug 20th 2008 3:41AM
These will be fun to play. As for the band, I think they're a little too repetitive to get into, for me at least.
Benzito @ Aug 20th 2008 4:23AM
Dragonforce is damn lame...
I just looked at the video of this song, and it feels like a children song for an AD&D cartoon, on speed.
Poor speed metal...The heroes of this music used to be Megadeth and Metallica.
But at least Dragonforce created a new GENRE: The Nerdmetal
whistlepig @ Aug 20th 2008 5:54AM
yea i thought the same thing but if its what all the cool kids are doing others will say they like it just to fit in
Haggard @ Aug 20th 2008 6:13AM
I don't think I've heard any good new metal bands since 1998. I recently discovered how good Testament are, but that's about it.
Benzito @ Aug 20th 2008 6:37AM
The probleme is that it is not even cool. The music is like pop with speed guitar. The harmonies and riffs are like original soundtrack of an heroic phantasy flick, with saturation.
It reminds me of Rapsody, in emo flavor. Or halloween without alchool.
I even have more respect for the EMO-est band, avenge sevenfold. Some of their songs are actualy better.
If people want good stuff for their RPG flavor, try out GNOME ( if they are still alive ) or even the legend or german heroic metal, SKYCLAD
TWiNKiE @ Aug 20th 2008 9:27AM
Avenged Sevenfold isn't emo, they're metal. If your gonna call someone emo, then at least give credit to the right band. Have you even listened to Avenged Sevenfold? Being metal is different from being emo.
Jimmy Eat World is the very definition for emo music. Even they say it.
Back to topic:
I love Guitar Hero III even more for them doing this. Doesn't matter really if the vocals are screwy, or the guitars are actually played 15% slower (if that is really true). The song is fast enough as it is, and vocals don't matter in GH3.
deaftly @ Aug 20th 2008 11:34AM
I just saw these guys last friday, they are quite shitty/hilarious live.
TWiNKiE @ Aug 20th 2008 1:37PM
Which? A7X, Dragon Force, or JEW?
deaftly @ Aug 20th 2008 2:08PM
Dragonforce, the guitars werent even close to sounding like the album, could have been the sound though.
Eugene @ Aug 20th 2008 6:58AM
Dragon Force totally rock. Looking forward to the new game coming out.
Eugene @ Aug 20th 2008 7:01AM
What's your favourite track?
Are there any free tracks available at: http://www.dragonforce.com/
cobracommander @ Aug 20th 2008 7:18AM
Dragonforce did not invent any genre of metal. If you think this type of shit is new... you know dick about metal.
If they're so great, why do they synthesize everything?
ark_keeper @ Aug 20th 2008 8:02AM
I just wish they had songs from their earlier albums. They are so much better and don't sound nearly as manufactured. Like Fury of the Storm.
Turkish Superman @ Aug 20th 2008 8:08AM
Death to false metal!
Hafk @ Aug 20th 2008 8:43AM
With enough squeezing and skill, Revolution Deathsquad will top 1 million. I hope GH3's single player score counter adds the digit, or "loops over".
reebo420 @ Aug 20th 2008 10:07AM
I haven't played Guitar Hero since the second one (it's fun, but I prefer an actual guitar) but I'm sad to see that Dragonforce is still getting recognition when they're so terrible.
Where's the Between the Buried and Me track pack?
TWiNKiE @ Aug 20th 2008 1:43PM
Dragonforce is one of the hardest songs in GH3 (next to the devil went down to georgia). More Dragonforce songs to expert players means more hard to pass songs.
And if they do put Between the Buried and Me, they better put Alaska.
Trance Addix @ Aug 20th 2008 10:39AM
Dragon Force Shmagon Force, lol.
Po Panda @ Aug 20th 2008 2:04PM
They just look so happy to have had their picture taken! lol! Anyways, kewl tuna-ges!
Abscissa @ Aug 20th 2008 3:55PM
Let me guess, this new song, along with all the songs on their new album (just like all the songs on all of their other albums), will feature a extremely steady and nearly-unchanging 2/4-beat drum track, sped up enough to be *really* obnoxious instead of just somewhat obnoxious and mixed loudly enough to severely distract from the rest of the song.
Pass.
VaultICEE @ Aug 20th 2008 6:00PM
I've fallen off the Guitar Hero bandwagon, but...
Shouldn't this just wait to go onto World Tour?
Martin @ Aug 20th 2008 6:04PM
I just want more Buckethead. And I wouldn't mind the option of downloading singles from GH1 or GH2 on Xbox 360 either.
