First PSP-3000 pics (yeah, it's got a PS button)

There's not much to see here but we wanted to share with you anyways. Behold, the PSP-3000! Yeah, it looks just like the PSP-2000 (aka the PSP Slim) but, lo! What's this? A PS button and internal microphone? Take that Home button and super cumbersome external microphone attachment! Check out more pics in the gallery right there.

This means that Sony has actually released more versions of their portable hardware than Nintendo has...
Wow.
Also, this new comments system is weirding me out. I think I like it, though.

To match the PS3's PS button. It's called consistency across brands. The PS button on the PS3 does that same thing as the home button on the PSP.

one says "home" one says "PS".
They're the same damn thing, I don't know why these blogs keep making a big deal about it. They changed the paint on the button. That's it.

I see they still have the same crappy d-pad. Pay Nintendo the royalties to use theirs already! Separated d-pads SUCK!!!

"Separated d-pads SUCK!!!"
I am so happy to see that some others feel the same way. Although people swear by Sony's controllers, they have always felt awkward to me... and the d-pad is the worst part.
(It's not a make-or-break issue, but always manages to be annoying.)

They really do suck. And yet a separated d-pad could actually be superior if they did it right: make each direction a separate button instead of linking them together under the surface. That would change things a lot.

Ugh, I was waiting for this redesign to pick up a PSP but I guess if there's no real redesign, per se, there's not much of a point. R&C Size Matters was pretty awful...but I guess it's not as bad as National Treasure 2. Maybe I'll just pick up the GoW bundle instead.

Stupid. Another redesign and still no second analog stick and the power button is still in the same shitty place. Way to go sony. Maybe by PSP-10,000 youll get your head out of your ass and make a worthwhile redesign.

Only if you suscribe to PS3/360. The Wii is still selling at the same price, same hardware, iirc.

Ok, I need to know. Is this really that much of an improvement over the 2000? I seriously just bought a PSP 2000 core package on Monday. Should I regret this purchase? I mean, I don't intend on using Skype, and I can't imagine the microphone being used for gameplay since that feature isn't universal across all PSPs. I had the original PSP for about a year after launch and then sold it, but have been dying to get my hands on another, so I finally took the plunge, and then two days later...this...

I've been considering a PSP lately, but still aren't quite ready yet. Maybe the 2000 will drop with this coming out, and I'll pick up that...

I noticed the slightly different stylized back too. I guess it's safe to say that it was a good idea to wait before buying a new psp (my psp-1001 broke a while ago) though this ain't much of an update.
They can only be making it better, right?..RIGHT?

While its not a big enough deal to sell my psp slim, if your planning on buying a psp then waiting until mid October does looks like a good idea.
