I thought the game had its pleasures. My wife's parents really enjoyed it, and a few of the mini-games (e.g., the bowling pin toss) had real replay value.

I'm definitely a core gamer (15 and violence-loving), and I would hate the game by myself, but my whole family (including, yes, stereotypical wii-loving grandparents) gets together and it's actually really fun.

I have to agree. I'm 33, and have 6yo twin daughters. And I have to say, one of them just KICKS MY ASS at the coin toss game. Alone, Carnival Games isn't that much fun...but when you go into multiplayer mode, its really not too bad a game. And I was surprised to see that! I thought like a typical "hardcore gamer" that a game like that...mini-games galore...couldn't POSSIBLY be fun and entertaining...but it really can. The sales aren't totally a lie on this one.

Well, I defend it every time because when my family (wife, parents & siblings) get together, it is THE game we play.

I'm 33, wife 32, parents 65, and sibling 29...

Great fun for the whole family.

So, why is Carnival Games successful and Zack & Wiki not?

Because, as awesomely good as Z&W is, its a single player game. And as people are finding with Carnival Games, and many of the other mini-game collections, they can be horrible single player games, but GREAT family-night-get-together-around-the-Wii-and-rumble games. So...Carnival Games is selling to families ALL over the place...but only SOME gamers are really into the point-and-click adventure games that Z&W epitomizes in such a great way.

I played this by myself at my sister's apartment because she was busy and I am curious about all games. I went through each of the non-locked games and, for the most part, they were ok control-wise. A couple bordered on fun even in single player.

HOWEVER, the graphics and sound are horrible. Just...bad. Not a single mouth moves and there's like one body animation. The game attention-getter/description voice ("Step right up...this game's for you") could put you to sleep due to complete lack of enthusiasm. Confetti would appear without a noise. Winning a game just stops the game followed by 3-5 seconds of silence before you are told if you've won or lost. Ugh.
