Color me blown away. Unfortunately, easy to make maps doesn't always equate to fun to play maps - but still, for a console, this is amazingly impressive and intuitive.
Hansel @ Aug 21st 2008 3:02AM
There will always be the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Cj @ Aug 21st 2008 2:13AM
Jeez Joystiq. I submitted this 2 days ago :/ Ill forgive you on the account on how awesome this map editor is!
Cj @ Aug 21st 2008 2:14AM
You could trade maps in Farcry Instincts Predator no problem, why would it be different here?
caserb @ Aug 21st 2008 2:30AM
I was about to say the same thing re: map editor swapping. Uh Gee, Joystiq....have you not played the first Far Cry for consoles?
Gehodra @ Aug 21st 2008 2:26AM
That was one smooth-talking narrator.
velocitySTRIKE @ Aug 21st 2008 5:14AM
It took me a while to get his accent..
Haggard @ Aug 21st 2008 8:50AM
Kinda reminded me of BioShock.. a gentle irish fellow whispering in your ear.
Rushma @ Aug 21st 2008 6:33PM
Is it wrong that this narrator made me want to make out with Colin Farrell?
Christopher @ Aug 21st 2008 2:45AM
Wow one of the maps he made looked like the chase scene on casino royale
Einhanderkiller @ Aug 21st 2008 2:49AM
I believe you could trade maps in Far Cry: Instincts for Xbox and Xbox 360, so I don't see why it wouldn't be able to be done in the Xbox 360 version of Far Cry 2.
cantbeatmegaman @ Aug 21st 2008 3:03AM
I think you need a supercomputer to run this. =)
Cody @ Aug 21st 2008 4:02AM
Or, you know... An xbox 360.
Haggard @ Aug 21st 2008 8:51AM
Nah, the specs are about average for PC games this generation.
CB @ Aug 21st 2008 3:17AM
...seriously, that was damn awesome.
szimm @ Aug 21st 2008 9:34AM
unfortunately, intuitive and simple-to-use often goes hand in hand with restrictive and template-based. im amazed at the amount of time it must have taken to make all this work on a 360 controller though... and i couldnt help but giggle at how the plant physics completely spassed out when hit by the glider... ^^
Fourdee3 @ Aug 21st 2008 5:05AM
"every map will be as unique as it's creator"
That's what worries me. XD.
OMGOMG @ Aug 21st 2008 5:43AM
Same thing with GH:WT.

COBRA @ Aug 21st 2008 9:59AM

Ever looked around on youtube? The hacked PS2 community has made some unbelievably fun looking charts in GH3 to songs that aren't in the game.
There are lots of people out there that are VERY good at this stuff. As long as we get some way to sort by rating or something it's like a whole other game (or more) in itself.
Xoviet chiK @ Aug 21st 2008 6:55AM
My brother had Instincts for Xbox, and I seemed to be the only one who played it.
I can't count how many maps I made. The map editor was just so much fun, and pretty versatile (especially with Evolution and it's different cursors). I think I just added Far Cry 2 to my short list of Fall / Winter games I'm picking up. If it's anything like Instincts or Far Cry, it should provide some wicked fun for 16 people on HUGE maps.
xGeneral DEATHx @ Aug 21st 2008 10:08AM
Free-for-all's on HUGE maps...that's what I'm talkin' about.
luigi @ Aug 21st 2008 7:59AM
sheesh joystiq, you posted a link to IGNs coverage but you didn't bother to check it out.
You will be able to upload 5 maps to ubi's servers for people to download and rate or if you join a room and you don't have the map it will be sent to you by the host.
Ubi have said if anyone shows off some impressive map making skills they would consider giving them more upload slots.
You might want to look into a little thing called research Joystiq, you're slipping.
Ballpeen @ Aug 21st 2008 9:10AM
GIMME!!
Obie @ Aug 21st 2008 10:07AM
Now that is a map editor! I hate people that call Halo's Forge a map editor, since it is just an "item placer".
DIGISPY @ Aug 21st 2008 10:58AM
This looks sooo good. Blows the old Fry Cry editor out of the water. This will be the next big FPS game.
Giroro @ Aug 21st 2008 6:29PM
Very neat, but there's a little bit of pop-in, which is distracting.
Moe-Ali @ Aug 22nd 2008 12:15AM
wow very nice btw people is this for ps3?
this is a great game im happy the pc guys put it on consoles do u guys no wen its out? im really looking forward to this
Bri @ Oct 20th 2008 1:26PM
I just hope it is still possible to make sky race like maps, and enough decent stuff to make up for the fun glitches from instincts predator.
Anyone got some more information or thoughts on this?
Nate @ Oct 26th 2008 12:08PM
can you create objective maps?
