You can see that things have improved markedly in these three new videos (two more can be found after the break). In them, Dark Void designer, Jose Perez III, details the game's story and concept, vertical gameplay, and flight gameplay, respectively. Airtight still has about a year of development time to make sure the game is, well ... airtight when it ships in '09.

Holy goddamn! I played this at E3 and loved it and agree wholeheartedly -- the game was sluggish as all hell which impaired my view greatly. On the shitty GameTrailers video it looks so much better. Waaaaay smoother. Totally looking forward to this and now I understand how Justin saw through the chuggy framerate to the glorious gameplay.

I don't get why the player can't just use the jetpack to climb those "vertical cover" scenes. Why not just fly above all the enemies and shoot them from above? This part doesn't make sense.

Vertical cover would imply that he needs cover. So if he just fwooshes over them, he will become mildly inconvenienced by multiple bullets embedding themselves in his flesh.

One other thing-- why don't Will's legs burn off when the jetpack's flame and exhaust hit his legs?
