Ubisoft took the opportunity afforded by the Leipzig Games Convention to announce ANNO 1404, the publisher's first ANNO offering after acquiring the popular PC "building-strategy" property and its German publisher in 2007. In ANNO 1404 – scheduled for release worldwide in March 2009 anno domini – "players will get to know the culture and technology of the ancient Orient while learning the tricks of local trade, diplomacy and economy in order to build their own metropolis." We'll see if Ubisoft's international marketing muscle can help the ANNO titles find an audience outside of ol' Europe.

I guess... but a grammar error is an easy mistake, adding a sail there is... strange.

Well, I'm no nautical expert, but my guess is that it serves to increase the turning radius of the ship. They can turn that sail a certain direction into the wind and that will pull the front of the ship along that direction, along with the rudder in the back, maybe?

I was more miffed by the improper use of anno domini. Then again, almost noone puts the AD before the year anymore.
Grammar is teh ded.

Never played the first one but if its anything like an ancient version of Sim City, then I'm all for it.
I could do without the announcer though.

I think you got them mixed up. 1503 was the most complex. My favorite still is the original. I liked the other two, too, but somehow they couldn't keep my attention after one or two rounds.

I love the Anno series, loved all of them so far, the DS game was fun. Hopefully with a competent studio making the game it'll turn out really awesome!
