Let me be first to say....
FUCK YEAH
The_Punisher @ Aug 21st 2008 3:29PM
but Tom Sawyer is already in it......
Hafk @ Aug 21st 2008 3:33PM
It's a master track this time. Same with Limelight.
I can't stand that terrible cover. Never cover Geddy Lee.
Banana Kid @ Aug 21st 2008 3:30PM
YYZ is an instrumental, so I wonder what they'll do with the vocalist on that track.
Boffo the Sock @ Aug 21st 2008 3:53PM
They'll just add some tambourine/cowbell like they do with some of the other songs.
syrik zero @ Aug 21st 2008 4:09PM
I didn't know people actually sing with this game. I've had it since the day it came out and I think the mic has been used less than 5 times
Neebs @ Aug 21st 2008 4:14PM

deft @ Aug 21st 2008 5:18PM
I'm wondering the same thing...
But it's most possibly going to be cowbell.
(Easy song for the 100% Expert vocals achievement)
Burritoclock @ Aug 21st 2008 5:51PM
I've always wondered why this seemed like a big deal to everyone, what does the real singer in an instrumental do? I mean they could handle it several ways:
1: Singer does nothing
2: Singer does Tamborine things
3: Singer can free style
4: Singer can make a samich
F the singer, I want to play YYZ on a rockband guitar!!!! (and freebird...)
Nesagwa @ Aug 21st 2008 9:49PM
Well in real life Geddy would be playing a bass.
I mean it is a 3 piece band, in real life the problem sort of works its self out.
syrik zero @ Aug 21st 2008 3:30PM
Awesome!! Can't wait!
Ahmedz @ Aug 21st 2008 3:33PM
I know it's a typo but 8800 MSP is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive!!!
Lionbacker @ Aug 21st 2008 3:31PM
Hey Ross,
I think you meant to type 880 MS points instead of 8800. That would be about 110 US dollars.
Raikage (GOLDEN Gun Of The Patriots) @ Aug 21st 2008 4:28PM
599 US dollars
599 US dollars
599 US dollars
It's Riiiidge Raaaacer! Riiiiiiiidge Raaaaaaaaaacer!!!
Ross Miller @ Aug 21st 2008 5:36PM
You never really can put a price on rock.
soulpopped @ Aug 21st 2008 3:31PM
8800 points?! What a costly typo!
... But seriously, I can't wait.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 21st 2008 3:33PM
8800 / $11?
In that case I'll go ahead and buy Braid and Penny arcade game since they are dirt cheap.
Asher @ Aug 21st 2008 3:33PM
YYZ! I wonder if it will have Neil Peart's insane drum solo outro. If it does, I'm definitely getting it. As for the vocalist, we could always use more cowbell.
Hafk @ Aug 21st 2008 4:01PM
I would much rather sing the keyboard pitches after the end of the guitar solo. Deeeee Daaaaa DAAAAAAAAAAA da Daaaaaaaaaaa.......
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Aug 21st 2008 3:36PM
I'm raising the terror threat level to: The Cover of Rush's Moving Pictures!!
doubleyewdee @ Aug 21st 2008 3:50PM
I'd prefer to stick with Blackwatch Plaid myself.
Zertoss @ Aug 21st 2008 4:42PM
EVERYONE GET IN HERE!
brandon_r87 @ Aug 21st 2008 5:19PM
Ha ha!
riggs @ Aug 22nd 2008 8:43AM
MY OFFICE! burgled, plundered, purloined! haha.....loins.
Jakka(Why the fuck am I banned for the 5th time?) @ Aug 21st 2008 3:37PM
Where's Nevermind?
Kizzle @ Aug 21st 2008 3:52PM
If they don't release it the week of Rock Band 2's release, I think it's safe to say "never." Harmonix really backpedalled on Nevermind when asked about it a couple of months ago, even going so far to say "it was never officially announced" (which is a lame cop-out since HMX employees had mentioned it more than once when the first game came out).
Maybe Courtney doesn't like video games.
syrik zero @ Aug 21st 2008 4:12PM
Honestly, it's an over-rated band IMO. I'm sorry, don't hate me!
brandon_r87 @ Aug 21st 2008 5:20PM
Yes, syrik, finally someone else who knows the truth.
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Aug 21st 2008 8:16PM
Off-topic:
Is naked Peach the current trend of avatars for Joystiq now?
Of course, Samfish has had his for ages... but now Jakka and Zertoss have 'em, too..
Hmmm... Sexy time!~♥
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Aug 21st 2008 3:40PM
What country uses Batjets as currency?
Neebs @ Aug 21st 2008 4:35PM
Bat Country.
Never stop there.
SHAZAM! @ Aug 21st 2008 3:46PM
Wow, it seems Rush now love Harmonix just as much as Harmonix loves Rush. Now they get master tracks.
Good thing.
Ridgecity @ Aug 21st 2008 3:47PM
Rockband: Making justice to all the bands with great albums that sold pretty bad. You got Platinum? we don't need that music in Rockband!
mietha CAG @ Aug 21st 2008 3:54PM
You're joking right? Moving pictures is, at least, quadruple platinum, and being as that cert was in January '95, I find it VERY hard to believe it has not sold at least a million since then. That aside, this is fucking awesome. Not their best album, not even close, but any complete Rush album is amazing, and there are far worse ones, not to mention Red Barchetta could very well be the best RB song to date.
frostyc @ Aug 21st 2008 4:27PM
uhhhhh where do you get your info?? http://www.rushisaband.com/display.php?id=788
mietha CAG @ Aug 21st 2008 4:51PM
To frostyc: Try reading... Those numbers are for 91-date. They do not include sales before that. Moving Picutes has sold 4+ million and is certified quadruple platinum in the US. I got the information from wikipedia, but you can verify it at several different sources.
AwesomeTown @ Aug 21st 2008 3:50PM
Never can have too much Rush. And originals of Tom Sawyer and Limelight no less!
TheKingInYellow @ Aug 21st 2008 3:51PM
YES YES YES YES YES!!!
I will never ever again have to play Tom Sawyer with that yowling halfwit instead of Geddy.
Kizzle @ Aug 21st 2008 3:55PM
This may be my first double-dip (Tom Sawyer)...if they are in the business of getting master tracks after already making us buy cover versions, I wish they'd get the goddamn masters for Run to the Hills and Number of the Beast. Whoever Harmonix has singing on those Iron Maiden covers makes me want to punch grandma.
Sizer @ Aug 21st 2008 4:08PM
Oh man, I am so there. KIN IT BES NEXT WEEK YETZ? And yes, we will buy Tom Sawyer again for Geddy.
Now I would kill for La Villa Strangiato (sorry vocalists).
Oshi @ Aug 21st 2008 4:13PM
YES. YYZ gives me hopes for that.
It also gives me hope for Snakes & Arrows album DLC, with three instrumentals! Do fucking want Malignant Narcissism's bassline.
J.Goodwin @ Aug 21st 2008 4:15PM
880, not 8800.
Sora @ Aug 21st 2008 4:19PM
So why the hell does it cost 1,120 points when I buy the songs separately but 8,800 when I buy it as a whole?!
Also, since when is 8800 points $11? Target and Best Buy owe me an assload of money...
CyricPL @ Aug 21st 2008 4:23PM
You know, I never liked Rush that much, even though I like a lot of 70s/early 80s prog. Until RB, that is. Those Rush songs are so damned fun, I can't help but like them more outside of the game now!
maxx @ Aug 21st 2008 4:48PM
Check out their concert dvd's, you may find that you really like them. The concert performances are what got me into the band originally. Before watching the shows, all I knew of them was a few songs I'd heard on the radio. After watching a few concerts, I was converted and became a huge fan. I since bought nearly all of their albums on Amazon and all of their dvd's, even saw 'em live just a few months ago. One of my favorite bands!
Can't wait for next week to get here. The guy who sang the songs in the cover versions... not so good.
Nicknin10do @ Aug 21st 2008 4:47PM
All I can say is one thing
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bass Masterson @ Aug 21st 2008 5:12PM
Most overrated band of all time? Quite possibly.
maxx @ Aug 21st 2008 5:29PM
You have a typo there. You mean "underrated." It's ok, it's easy to make that mistake.
Bass Masterson @ Aug 21st 2008 6:06PM
Snappy comeback? Are you in sixth grade?
These guys are the epitome of masturbatory math rock. A bunch of people who, while undeniably skilled at their instruments, write and play atrociously bad music in which everyone tries to show off their skill at once. No interplay, no common voice, no connection.
Monday's warrior! A real Tom Sawyer!
Zippy5150 @ Aug 21st 2008 6:47PM
If you're actually going to attempt to bash Rush, at least get the lyrics right.
