Samba de Amigo gets dates, DLC and full song list
They just don't make maracas like they used to, eh? Nevertheless, Sega will proceed with the revival of Samba de Amigo, albeit with a pair of fiddle sticks (or just one Wiimote and a tethered Nunchuk, if you prefer), when the game ships to retail September 19 across Europe and September 23 in North America. The new Samba will offer plenty of nostalgic songs, plus a generous helping of fresh tracks, including a wag-a-long to Rihanna's smash hit: Pon de Replay. We've laid out the entire song list for you after the break.
Additionally, Samba's first downloadable song pack will be available for purchase on September 23 -- a long-term storage solution is still up in the air. All song packs will include three songs by their original performers. Sega has not confirmed songs for individual purchase nor announced pricing. The first pack will include:

Ugh. Are You Gonna Be My Girl? Were there even maracas in that song? I love the potential for this game, but lying/creating maraca line won't do anything. Stick to salsa! And flamenco!
syrik zero @ Aug 21st 2008 7:08PM
I think it has a lot of tambourine... That's close enough =P
But I'm also avoiding this game. I don't see what is supposed to be fun about it
Fernando Rocker @ Aug 21st 2008 7:11PM
If you have a Dreamcast, you need to play Samba de Amigo. It was one of the best Dreamcast games, and still these days is a very enjoyable game.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Aug 21st 2008 8:40PM
I know it's hard to believe, but just because you aren't shooting someone in the face doesn't mean the game can't be fun.
Mr Khan @ Aug 21st 2008 7:05PM
Seguimos bailando
Seguimos cantando
Es un dia de carnaval
Lleno con felicidad!
Sadly, it's direct conflict with Wario Land: Shake It!, prevents a day-one buy. At least from myself. Also i want to test the waters and get some community consensus, since rhythm games are very hit-or-miss for me
Drew @ Aug 21st 2008 7:11PM
Not DDR! You can get perfect, or ok, or good, or, of course, miss.
Fernando Rocker @ Aug 21st 2008 7:09PM
Well... at least Sega is doing an excellent job across all platforms.
For the Wii, Madworld, House of the Dead: Overkill, Samba de Amigo, Sonic and the Dark Knight.
Good job Sega...
I have read a couple of Samba de Amigo hands-on, and aparently, the game is not just good, but very good.
Kudos to Sega and Gearbox Software.
Now... where is the rumored Skies of Arcadia II for Wii?
Drew @ Aug 21st 2008 7:14PM
Good across all platforms? Sega? Fernando, for the sake of the future of the JF (Joystiq Federation), I demand you show us your alternate dimension!
Fernando Rocker @ Aug 21st 2008 7:21PM
Well... Sega is publishing/developing interesting games: Sonic Unleashed, Bayonneta, Sonic Chronicles, Stormrise, Phantasy Star, Aliens, Valkyrie Chronicles, Valkyrie DS...
They are doing a great job.
Drew @ Aug 21st 2008 7:31PM
I wouldn't call Sonic good, especially with his recent record. Don't expect much until you've played it. Other than that, good point. Although everything Sega put out recently was crap, so they can't be good across all platforms, yet. I hope you're right about the future.
Obie @ Aug 21st 2008 7:49PM
Easy Fernando...lets not get ahead of ourselves...Sonic is still ass in my book...him using a sword is a lame as him turning into a wolf.
KeenCommander @ Aug 21st 2008 8:12PM
Let's give SEGA the benefit of the doubt on this one until these games are actually out. I'm with Fernando on this one, other than crappy Golden Axe sequel, their game lineup is actually looking pretty darn good.
Now about that Jet Set Radio...
Sabata @ Aug 21st 2008 9:21PM
I concur, give me Jet Set Radio!
I miss DJ Professor K.
Wiinterfang @ Aug 21st 2008 7:13PM
Ulala is making me
Hard Hard
Drew @ Aug 21st 2008 7:26PM
"EWWW Girls are grody!"
"But Dr. Tran sets them straight, with a good, hot dicking!"
Mr.ESC @ Aug 21st 2008 9:03PM
Lol WTF Drew?
Wiinterfang @ Aug 21st 2008 7:23PM
Groove Is In the Heart – Dee Lite
What the fuck?? didn't lady dee lite sue Sega because they stole her looks to use for concept for Ulala? and ulala appears on this game :/.
That's like when Sega finally had reals ferraris on outrun :).
Sega=Awesome
dark_inchworm @ Aug 21st 2008 7:36PM
I guess they settled out of court with a fierce maraca-shaking duel.
Senor Facekick @ Aug 21st 2008 7:27PM
Chuck Rio can eat a rubiks cube and poop it out as music, thus fueling the champs failed career.
..yeah that's all I got for this one. I'm not so good at this 'joystiq comments' thing.
Batzarro @ Aug 21st 2008 7:32PM
Tito Puento? I'm gonna guess you mean Tito PuentE
I know, dead men don't complain, but...
Russell Smith @ Aug 21st 2008 7:51PM
Skies of Arcadia II? If that was even remotely true I'd rush out and buy a Wii right now. I'm not an RPG fan and that's the only one I've ever played all the way through.
Obie @ Aug 21st 2008 7:51PM
Samba de Amigo is THE best party game. Everyone can get into it in two seconds. And I am kinda biased as a met an amazing girl once, while playing this game.
But seriously, it's really a blast.
Chase @ Aug 21st 2008 8:19PM
Did she let you shake, rattle, and roll her?
Obie @ Aug 21st 2008 8:30PM
She: "Ai papi! Que maracas grandes tienes!"
Me: "Babaloooooo!"
Otimus @ Aug 21st 2008 7:55PM
Yeah, great.
Lets take out all the game songs, leave in all the stupid songs, take out all the FUN songs, put in a lot of pop music.
This is why you don't let non-Japanese companies touch your cutesy music games.
They do this.
"EWWW JAPANESE LYRICS, NOT FOR US SIMPLE FOLK!"
"EWWW GAME MUSIC? WTF!!!111"
This is just like those Donkey Kong music games when they came to the US (only worse.. since those were just altered)
Wiinterfang @ Aug 21st 2008 8:03PM
Sega don't want to risk this game only to appeal a few.
it's called business.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Aug 21st 2008 8:44PM
@Otimus
Okay put your self in the shoes of a business man. What do you think would help sell this kind of game? Obscure Japanese music that no one knows about, or songs that everyone knows?
thematrixatenemo @ Aug 21st 2008 8:15PM
Any word on whether that rumor about the rattle type attachments is true or not? Regardless I'm buying it but they would be really cool.
Phil
Moptimus Slime @ Aug 21st 2008 8:17PM
O RLY? SEGA, whats with all these covers?
Chase @ Aug 21st 2008 8:20PM
"I Want Candy – Bow Wow Wow"
...
Really?
...
Really?!
*face palm*
Justin Brogan @ Aug 22nd 2008 2:53AM
Yarg, it's releasing two days after my birthday. I'll have to buy it myself then.
McWeen @ Aug 22nd 2008 8:06AM
I snagged a copy of the DC original at a goodwill for $2 but was never able to find maraca controllers :(
Jack @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:12AM
I seriously have my doubts about this game but it might actually be a good game.

LiqwidZero @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:42AM
I thought "I Want Candy" was an MC Chris song. Fancy that.
