I'm not worried about the disc swapping.. I'm worried about the length of the game. Sure, it will probably be an awesome experience, but for how long? =

Project Slypheed proved that Square is not to be trusted with things not RPG. Although I credit their choice of voice actor, Edward Elric made a great androgynous ace pilot. Happy to see they're sticking to what they do best. Well, better.

The problem here is that this is a symptom of something that was supposed to die last generation. If a dead simple 25 hour rpg experience has to go on two discs, then the 360 hardware seems less and less next-gen. As has been said before, imagine how many discs FFXIII will be.
As far as the "best copy" is concerned, the human eye can only discern so many colors and so much detail, graphical differences are dragged down by inferior ports, or are completely the opinion of someone who loves one particular system over another.
The need for multiple discs shows that the system is already struggling to keep up with what is possible. Microsoft just bet on the wrong format, and it'll come back to haunt them as the games get bigger and better.

Furthermore, I hate to say it and its almost painful to watch but Microsoft is embarrassing itself, and so is Square Enix. M$ obviously payed good money to get Square and Tri-Ace to make a jrpg exclusive to 360 in order to build a base of rpgs upon which to attempt to build a Japanese market base, but even with this shiny new title it just will not be a system seller anywhere. Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata were not enough to push 360s in Japan, and IU won't help. As far as the US is concerned, sales will be lackluster compared to M$'s expendatures on getting it and advertising it.
I'd really like to know how long M$ thinks that just taking away Sony's old stomping ground is going to work, how about some in-house games that are halfway decent? At some point this title will learn from Eternal Sonata: you can't make much money putting jrpgs on the 360 because the basic 360 fanbase hasn't changed since the last system, and they will have to port it to PS3. It's kinda sad that half the people who piss on Sony fanboys about their company having stolen the rpg genre don't even like it or plan to buy these games. People just like having that feather in thier cap. But the games suffer. I know Microsoft's business model has always been to, instead of releasing a quality product, use money to destroy the competition, but the numbers are swaying away from them, and this business model could turn out to be a huge disaster for them and any future-gen console.
Although like the rest of us I'd like to see less greed, buyouts, betrayals, and clearly dumbass decisions about which console to put each game on, it's unlikely to stop. I almost envy Wii fanboys, Nintendo ain't what it used to be, but they retained honor and committment to thier fans.
