We're mostly used to seeing an amalgamation of different cut scenes in our Dissidia: Final Fantasy trailers; however, this time we're treated to over two minutes of pure gameplay. The battle you'll be witnessing is between Final Fantasy III light and dark reps, Onion Kid and The Cloud of Darkness.
One thing this blogger particularly took notice of was the short pause for the Onion Kid during his break status; he does a class change and then has to choose an ability from a drop down menu. It's interesting to see that while the game is a fast and fluid fisticuff, the developers could still incorporate some of the traditional turn-based Final Fantasy elements into the game. Are you not grasping that thought fully? Well, you will once you see the trailer.

Awesome. Looks cool. I wonder though how that class change will work in ad hoc multiplayer? Will the wireless be fast enough for that? I suppose since it's G it might.

This, for me, will be game of the year. Can't wait to get it.
I think the onion knigh has twelve jobs, some of which, must be unocked.
I also think the fighting areas are great- plenty of places tohide, etc.
Can anyone tell me how the sound was? My speakers are broken =P

I was wondering how this game would actually play and if it would keep the spirit of the FF series. After watching that video, I can say "bravo". It looks fantastic and like a blast to play! Can't wait.

I was wondering the same thing, and I was actually expecting something more along the lines of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. This is MUCH better though, it looks sooo frickin' epic when you pull off massive moves like that. I can't wait to play Tidus or Cloud, they'll be INSANE.
Any news of whether it'll make appearances in North America, or will we have to import?

I think it's the video quality. I'm not a big fan of GT

It seems to play a lot like a Dragon Ball game with the focus on aerial combat. Not sure how I feel about that. I'll have to see more from some of the other combatants I suppose.

If you watch the video carefully you will see the fighting isn't aerial. What keeps them in the air is the delay after each skill (or a hit into the air which is then chained with skills). When they stop the skill chain they automatically fall to the floor. There is a counter button sequence (I think) near the beginning (big X on the screen) which can probably happen on the floor as well it just so happened that he was in the air at the time but the combat is definitely not aerial based.
P.S. Ironically the combat actually looks faster on this then in DB Tenkaichi

I see the download to psp button. my psp is not recognizing this type of file. How do i get this downloaded to my psp to be able to play?

You'll still need to download it via your PC and using the PS downloader. Think of it as if you were downloading off the PC PS Store.

You need the PLAYSTATION Network Downloader. We're going to have more information on our expanded video download options later tonight. You'll be able to download from the site and from your PSP. Stay tuned!

I like where this is going. I'll be getting it even though i didn't play any of the FF games. Which is a good one to jump on to? The only one i've played is crisis core.

So, 'll be playing a Kingdom Heart with Final Fantasy theme.
Still, looking forward to this game, but man, since KH they just can't shacke away the scheme, can't they?

Wow, classic menu design and use, CoD looking final-battle-ish, class changes (LOL, Red/red Ninja returns once again!), the sowrds featured in FFIII's iconic Amano image, and of course the classic victory fanfare (heh, if FFX-2 were in here, think it'd change to its riff-ish victory?).
What's this "Onion Kid" crud on aboot? *checks DFF site* It's so very freaking "Onion Knight".

Also: WTF did CoD pull on OK to knock him down that critically in the HP department?
Also, though unrelated: Whoo! FFT has hit Greatest Hits status! Time to put it on my list of things to [want to] buy.

At what point does it become easier to just develop an original game?
At this rate, we'll all be playing Madden Final Fantasy Football in a year or so.

No One buys original games anymore everyone wants sequals but when their made everyone hates them so companies make an original game but it doesnt sell and it becomes a waste of money so they make more crappy sequals that get 6.5 from GI but it sells so they make more crappy sequals and it goes on like this until an original game comes out that is actually good but then a year later they come out with the sequal that sells way more than the first but sucks

so are you saying that this is a crappy sequel to every final fantasy game? or are you saying its an original-ish game. i do agree with you about no one buying original games. i wanted to buy patapon and locoroco but i never did!
