In honor of the new PSP Brite moniker, we present the Lite Brite. Here's what we'll be playing this weekend. Be sure to let us know what games will be occupying your time!
- Alexander Sliwinski: Well, after a debilitating incident where some new RAM killed my PC weeks ago, I should have my baby back to me today with several new upgrades. First up: Some glorious all-levels-on-max Sins of a Solar Empire. Also making some headway with the Fable II Pub games (without cheating) and some Civ Rev multiplayer.
- Andrew Yoon: Finally, I'm going to spend some alone time with Braid. <3
- Christopher Grant: I've got a full plate of partially played games – I need to hunker down, pick one, and make some progress. Too Human, Fable 1, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Pixel Junk Eden, and Siren. Oh, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed should be in my hands next week, so I don't have much time to take care of all this. Why is life so hard?
- Griffin McElroy: I'm still working on Final Fantasy IV, which I've purposefully slowed progress on as I approach one of the saddest moments in video game history. I don't want to get all misty-eyed in public, you see. Perhaps I'll play a little more Geometry Wars 2 as well, if Justin can finally manage to beat my score on Pacifism (the only reason I could be persuaded to return to that unforgiving grid).
- Kevin Kelly: Fable 2 Pub Games for me, plus I'm demoing a tabletop game called Monsterpocalypse that looks like a ton of fun. And I'm still finding a way to cram Halo 3 into the nooks and crannies of my free time, and I'm looking to have that addiction checked out soon.
- Kyle Orland: Now that I'm done with "Moving to Pittsburgh: The Game" I'll be practicing my drumming for the impending Rock Band 2 release. I'm also still struggling to get those last few puzzle pieces in Braid and resisting the urge to use an FAQ because Jonathan Blow doesn't want me to.
- James Ransom-Wiley: Jonesing to finish up Bionic Commando Rearmed, but I'm headed out of town ... why is Remote Play so laggy? Thinking I might cop Bangai-O Spirits...
- Jason Dobson: With one week to go till I move across the country, the consoles are packed and the only game I'm playing is fighting with the moving company to make sure my stuff is there when I arrive. I've lost two men so far.
- Justin McElroy: If there's a merciful God in heaven above I'll be able to solve the Too Human game tape and finally move on with my life.
- Ludwig Kietzmann: With a patch on the way, I've decided to halt my progress through Alone in the Dark. I still have a survival-horror itch to be scratched and/or violently torn out, so I'll return to Silent Hill: Origins on my soon-to-be-outdated PSP Slim. While I'm there, I'll kill Crisis Core's final boss and close the chapter on that time-sucking mess of side missions. Lastly, I'll try and make some time for No More Heroes, which I've neglected for far too long.
- Randy Nelson: I'm off on a Quest for Booty this weekend – after I've finally gotten my fill of saving the same several hundred people over and over (and over) again in The Last Guy demo.
- Ross Miller: I'm taking a break from the ION drum set until I can try it with Rock Band 2 (the verdict with RB1 wouldn't be so good, as the cymbals don't register without some serious drum thwacking). Instead, I will be working through his first week of homework (one more semester to go!) and, when time permits, run through The Force Unleashed demo. Maybe I'll pick up Too Human and see what all the fuss is about.

FFVI I've had the GBA version for a year and have finally decided to play through it. I'm on a haunted train right now and throughly enjoying it.
Jerk Face @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:40PM
What a great game that is! I hope they rock a 3D remake on the DS.
Mr Khan @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:24PM
Well into Izuna 2
I'm shocked at how poorly rated it was. I was thumbing through Nintendo Power while i was supposed to be shopping for college books, and saw that they gave it a 5.0
Though all of their criticisms were true, the game's RPG-style elements do fail. It's just really addicting
Mr Khan @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:27PM
Also inching my way forward in Magician Lord. How that game didn't make the top-10 hardest of all time is beyond me. If i had actually had to pay $0.50 for every game over, i would be hundreds in the hole
There are enemies. Regular enemies, who are straight-up stronger than you. They can take more damage than you can and are fast and clever (as much as a pre-AI enemy can be)
unfriendly_cat @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:53PM
Izuna 2 is excellent. It's funny, addictive and cute, and there is a lot to do. Almost the criticism I've seen in reviews could apply to all roguelikes.
My only complaint is that it is much easier than the first one (although I seem to remember most people found that one too difficult, so your mileage may vary).
Haggard @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:29PM
OMG they mentioned Braid again!
Perhaps they should be renamed.. Braid-stiq! *snicker*
har har har!
j.howlett @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:33PM
i kinda wanna play indigo prophecy since i read all that stuff on heavy rain but i don't feel like re learning the controls. maybe some resistance multi but i also have the itch to play through Mark of Kri with weapons unlocked to kill those naked people with my ax, and to see if the ax has a stealth kill animation. once i got it the ax i never tried to stealth with it on replays. pinning people to walls through their face with the sword is fun and bare handed kills also.
edhc44 @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:03PM
Are you tripping? There aren't any hard controls to learn...
j.howlett @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:20PM
not hard, just confusing playing other games at the same time. plus the scene in the apt took me forever to do properly and turned me off some.
Haggard @ Aug 23rd 2008 6:52AM
I bought the PC version the other day - scene in the apartment = 5 minutes of dodging flying objects?
My thoughts about that game are that in parts it has some of the most tense and original gameplay I've ever seen (having to hide the evidence before the cop goes to the toilet, for instance), whilst in others it's so bad that I find it hard to believe that in a team of 50+ developers; nobody sat back and said "uh, David Cage? Yeah, this bit is really bad. Can't we do something original instead of this five minute QTE sequence?".
ice~ @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:38PM
Im working my ass off trying to get all the Yashichis is Bionic Commando Rearmed and I'll be getting all the achievements in Marvel Ultimate alliance while I wait patiently for Castle Crasheds and Viva Pinata 2 and VP DS :)
Phoenix2088 @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:49PM
WOW the DS looks like utter shit compared to the PSP.
Fernando Rocker @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:58PM
But you should see the amazing game DS library. Week after week a good game is released. Is the king of RPG's this gen.
It has the most third party and first party support.

Superstar90 @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:01PM
WOW That was the most unoriginal, blatant troll ever. How exactly does it look like utter shit, they both look cool.
WRE @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:10PM
You look like utter crap compared to the PSP, too. People that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Zertoss @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:48PM
Hey now, comparing Phoenix2088 to the PSP isn't fair. The PSP is useful and provides entertainment.
Jacksons @ Aug 23rd 2008 2:35AM
Who actually posts stuff like that? Nearly every one of my PSP games would never work on my DS and vice versa. They're the best damned portables ever made.
That said, it's more Downstream Panic on the PSP for me, and Word Jong on the DS.
I actually fired up my PS2 recently and forgot how much I still love that thing. I may have to give that some time as well. So many games now try to be a full course meal, but dammit, sometimes I just want a pile of candy. Sly Cooper flavored candy!
Haggard @ Aug 23rd 2008 6:53AM
When Fernando has become a voice of calm balance, a new type of a troll has emerged.
Jakka(Naked Peach Brigade) @ Aug 23rd 2008 9:56AM
STOP FEEDING THE TROLL!
Bass Masterson @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:50PM
God Braid is such crap. So happy to see the low sales numbers, maybe people will shut up about it soon.
Shmil @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:56PM
Bass Masterson: Taking schadenfreude to the extreme!
ApolloIV @ Aug 24th 2008 12:41AM
Man and I thought there would be no more trolls like Killjebus when he first came around. Oh and Lord Bowser! God if you ignore the stupidity of your post/posts you'll find a bit of nostalgia
sinai @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:01PM
*insert girlfriend joke here*
Mr.ESC @ Aug 23rd 2008 4:10PM
"*insert girlfriend joke here*"
She is so ugly that...you know nevermind.
edhc44 @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:03PM
That would be Lost Odyssey, sir! I mean, that is if and only if my girlfriend gets off my hair for a while...
Superstar90 @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:03PM
I'm playing Brave Story: New Traveler on PSP, I can't wait for Tales of Vesperia next week though :P
Superstar90 @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:08PM
Also, Bangai-O Spirits is AMAZING. It's so ridiculously fun.
VENOM @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:08PM
Still playing the Force Unleashed demo a lot. Might play a bit of Oblivion too, if I find the time.
Top Cat @ Aug 23rd 2008 12:40PM
i'm actually knocking away at Oblivion now myself. Came back to the game with a determination to mod away all the problems that kept me from fully sacrificing my spare time to it!
Say what you want about the flaws of the game, at least Bethesda allowed the community to fix them all!
NukeAssault @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:15PM
Wanna return to some old games i haven't played in a while. Like Dark Sector or Eternal Sonata.
Superstar90 @ Aug 23rd 2008 9:57AM
Eternal Sonata is awesome, I still need one more achievemment worth 321 points to get all the gamerscore.
ahsayuninew @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:24PM
LIGHT BRITE YO
WER IS MAH BLACK DS?!
Jerk Face @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:40PM
Geometry Wars 2 is ruining my fucking life.
syrik zero @ Aug 23rd 2008 3:40PM
I just have two achievements left... Smile and Game Over. I really suck at sequence. Pacifism is by far my favorite any most addicting. Then I would have to say Evolve. That game is so addicting
Zertoss @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:52PM
I'm blasting through Burnout Paradise and Battlefield: Bad Company on the 360 this weekend. I'll probably spend some time with the Fable 2 Pub Games and Galaga Legions too.
On the PC, I'm still hooked on Diablo 2. I can't pull myself away from it long enough to try the Heavy update in TF2. That's going to change tomorrow.
DS is my Final Fantasy IV carrier and player.
Nothing going on on the PS3, Wii or PSP for now.
megatog615 @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:53PM
BITCHES DON'T KNOW 'BOUT MY LITE BRITE

Josh @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:06PM
It's not officially called the PSP Brite, is it?
Taco_Hell @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:17PM
Yup, it is. Which works so well with DS, PSP puns.
Superstar90 @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:48PM
Now LiteBrite has 2x the meaning!
Taco_Hell @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:26PM
Getting some Bionic Commando: Rearmed quality time, as well as some Persona 3 FES as I finally was able to track down a copy, why was it so hard to find?!
On the PC, still trying to get my Doc/Pyro achievements and also being in Doctor heaven as everyone is a frekken Heavy.

andylee92 @ Aug 23rd 2008 12:02AM
if i make it home in time, I will play halo3 or try to finish some games left from christmas still. Medal of honor or FEAR or turningpoint on the 360. And maybe pick up too human if i can and try to get the internet to work on my ps3 so i can get quest for booty, and im not talking about ratchet. ;)
theturtle363 @ Aug 23rd 2008 12:03AM
I just got my xbox back from repairs so im playing a little bit of a lot of games, Halo 3, Saints Row, Call of Juarez, i even bought timeshift and the Civil War game to bolster my gamerscore, but once i stop dicking around ill probably go back through Fable 1 to get ready for the sequel
samfish @ Aug 23rd 2008 12:04AM
I'm probably going to try and finish off Soul Bubbles this weekend.
I might also play Tomb Raider Anniversary, but I'll probably give up after 20 minutes thanks to the shitty camera.
samfish @ Aug 25th 2008 2:07AM
Magic Update:
I played neither of the games mentioned. I played Gunstar Super Heroes for about an hour on Saturday, though.
Lard @ Aug 23rd 2008 12:25AM
I will be continuing on in Digital Devil Saga 2.
Possibly starting up a game of Takuza, to try and finish it before Yakuza 2 comes out.
Definitely playing We Love Katamari, which I picked up today! \(^^)/
Donald @ Aug 23rd 2008 1:18AM
Running through a second playthrough of FF4 while waiting for the Mega Man 9 release.
