The show had 203,000 attendees, with 547 companies exhibiting their wares. Showing that Leipzig is actually becoming of interest to the media as well: 3,800 journalists attended, up from 3,395 in 2007. It'll be interesting to see how Leipzig does next year when it will reportedly have some competition from GamesCOM in Cologne.

Someone care to enlighten me as to the purpose of this show? I mean, with the TGS in two months and e3, however crappy, soon before this, is there a need to have another convention? Sure, another part of the world gets to have one, but really, isn't that what the internet is for? It just seems like a waste of money. One show needs to go, for sure. e3 is at the top, natch.
