Bionic Commando Rearmed scores super first-week sales

Ben Judd, Capcom's Bionic Commando, er ... commander, reports in his latest blog entry that the PSN/XBLA/PC release, Bionic Commando Rearmed, saw combined first-week sales of 130,000 copies across the three platforms. The news prompted Judd to exclaim, "Holy fiddlesticks!"
Judd qualified his excitement, saying, "That may not seem impressive compared to package titles that sell in the millions but compared to other digital titles that is a friggin juggernaut!" Seemingly very pleased with not only the reviews (which are averaging above 80%) and sales of his first game as producer, he made a point to let gamers know how they've impacted Capcom's digital strategy going forward. "Basically, we have set a standard in digital gaming," he said, adding, "The bar has been raised and you have let developers around the world know that if they invest the time, money, and heart into making (and remaking) some great games, you will support that initiative."
We have a pretty good feeling that, following the success of BC:R, Judd's going to have a much easier time getting Capcom brass behind whatever project he chooses to tackle next.

This guy sounds down to earth. I'm glad the game is selling really well, I bought it a couple of days after release. I've never played the original, but upon completing the XBLA version I went back and experienced it on the NES.
The conversion is amazing, they've done an extremely good job. Worth your points.

What about his "one bored individual"?
Rob Accomando @ Aug 26th 2008 6:24AM
I bought it and love the challenge rooms too. I guess I'm also a bored individual between working full time and spending time with my wife and 2 year old. Real boring.

Please remake UN Squadron!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only the best side scrolling shooter to ever grace the snes(besides r-type and gradius lol)
BIGFAT @ Aug 25th 2008 11:48PM
I wonder if that 100,000 broke any records?
Anyway i really hope we get a rearmed sequel, the bionic arm has to go down as one of the greatest game mechanics ever created and i want to keep using it in side scrolling games.

Loved this game. I used to do speed runs on the original when I was younger, and totally don't remember it being this HARD!
Also a great game to do in little chunks of time.

Anyone else read that as "Bionic Commando Reamed" ??
I'm guessing this is all on consoles, cos I haven't seen the pc version for download anywhere. Anyone recommend a site to buy it from?
(not too sucky, not too much hassle to sign up, preferably international downloads).
BIGFAT @ Aug 26th 2008 2:42PM
the companys web site or D2D
Sarge @ Aug 26th 2008 10:16AM
Nice to see that sales for this are good. I bought this on day one, and that's pretty much all I played for a couple of days (after work and whatnot). As a huge fan of the original, I was impressed by how well the remake came off.
And yeah, this game is worth the ten dollars. Easily. But some of the challenges are pure evil, number 51 in particular.
Tim The Enchanter @ Aug 26th 2008 11:00AM
All Megaman titles please. I don't care who thinks they've been overplayed to some. It would be cool to see them redone like this, all the way up to the MMX series.
Levi @ Aug 26th 2008 12:52PM
I would have paid $20 for this game. Let's hope the success means additional content/sequel/online multiplayer. I'll gladly pay for all of the above.
I agree, UN Squadron deserves a remake. Great game.
Next, can I has Braid on PSN?

CAPCOM is, in fact, my favorite developer, but can we not forget to give credit to GRIN? They're the ones who polished this son-of-a-bitch. I mean, I can't even get over the vignetting used in the game. That is some classy shit. And you know, I would've loved for a "Japanese" remake by CAPCOM themselves (the pre-boss dialog rules), but I'm really glad these Swedes did it instead. I feel like their flavor was better direction for the game. (Or maybe I'm just too used to CAPCOM.)
