E for All exhibitor list is quite small ... and here it is in chart form!
Our pals at Big Download hit the phones, tracked down PR people and figured out which companies, exactly, are going to this year's E for All Expo ... and the answers ain't pretty. In fact, the only two major exhibitors will be Microsoft and Electronic Arts! THQ and Konami – familiar faces from last year's expo – won't be in attendance this year while Nintendo and 2K Games – also at last year's Expo – have yet to make a decision (Update: 2K and Activision, previously undecided, let BD know that they won't be attending).
To make sense of the whole messy situation, we did the same thing we always do when we're upset: grabbed the crayons and expressed our feelings artistically ... then we turned those feelings into a chart comparing exhibitors for both this year's and last year's E for All, side-by-side with this year's Penny Arcade Expo. Yes, we know the Penny Arcade kids have been pouring salt into E for All's wounds for awhile now and that this is just another pile of color-coded salt that we're placing at their disposal. But really, that's a lot of salt! Chart after the break or read the full article at Big Download.
[Update: IDG sent us a comment: "We're disappointed that you didn't contact us yesterday before putting up your E for All post, and we hope you'll do so in the future. At this point, we'll just say that the show isn't over until Tiger hits his last hole in one, Microsoft has packed up its last Xbox, Target has sold its last Wii Fit, Fatal1ty has blown away his last opponent, and the World Cyber Games National champions are crowned. Further announcements are forthcoming, and we are confident that E for All 208 will be a great event for everyone in the game community."]

More like
N for Nintendo doesn't know if they're coming.
DarkNessBear @ Aug 26th 2008 1:53AM
E 4 All was a ton of fun last year. I got free tickets and went two days. It was great, not that many people there so you could actually meet a bunch of the gaming internet celebs. And talking to Tommy Tallarico about how much G4 sucks was worth the trip.
samfish @ Aug 25th 2008 12:34PM
geez, that's so...pathetic. At least MS has a chance to have the spotlight all to themselves, though.
Xoviet chiK @ Aug 25th 2008 12:38PM
No SCE?
At least they've got fatal1ty lined up as an event partner...
Author X @ Aug 25th 2008 2:21PM
I dunno, they may have fatal1ty, but can that stand up to PAX's feature of NOT having fatal1ty?
whymog @ Aug 25th 2008 4:12PM
Yeah, I think it's pretty much been decided that Fatal1ty only appeals to semi-conscious marketing execs and Fatal1ty himself.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 12:38PM
Remember the last E4 all, they showed Rock band and Brawl and...I think that was pretty much it.
Suckage.
shMerker @ Aug 25th 2008 11:24PM
So, they have two exhibitors, and maybe 5 more showing up? Wow. Then again, the first year PAX had a show floor it was pretty small (several times larger than that)
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 12:45PM
I don't know when Gamecock and THQ turn you down you know your show is gonna suck and I doubt they will get more confirmations so I guess they will have to cancel the whole thing.
ElectricTurtle @ Aug 25th 2008 12:45PM
It would seem that the PAX list is a bit misleading.
"Sony Online Entertainment" might not be there specifically, but there will be a LARGE Sony booth according to the latest expo floor layout (http://www.pennyarcadeexpo.com/pax08_exhibithall.pdf).
Atari's on the expo layout as well, as is Sega and Codemasters.
Are you guys sure you talked to the right people?
In any case, E4Empty is pathetic and should just die already.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 12:50PM
"E4Empty is pathetic and should just die already".
How you kill that which was never alive?
Well I guess we are about to find out, lulz.
bnpederson @ Aug 25th 2008 5:14PM
"How you kill that which was never alive?"
Fire.
ElectricTurtle @ Aug 25th 2008 12:50PM
Wow that was fast, some of those I mentioned in my last comment went green right before or after it was submitted.
Christopher Grant @ Aug 25th 2008 1:36PM
Added them in! They weren't in the original exhibitors list that PAX released, but they are indeed on the map, so consider them added.
Geoff Gibson @ Aug 25th 2008 1:04PM
Well I am still planning on attending... but it seems like I'll be basically hanging out in Microsoft's booth the entire time and probably only for a couple hours.
Maybe they'll have a playable Halo Wars and Alan Wake! :D
Please don't disturb me, my dream EforAll is probably much better than the real EforAll.
Xelloss @ Aug 25th 2008 1:33PM
I won't be going this year, did last year. It was overall a fun time, but really I want a E3 not a convention that's going to show me stuff that already has come out or comes out in a month. E for All 07 had Brawl, Rock Band and Metal Gear, and that's about it. This year, um I don't know of any game that's worth checking out early.
Christian @ Aug 25th 2008 1:44PM
I'm a little dissappointed with that guest list but hey, it'll be my first time going so I'll still enjoy it nonetheless. I do hope more would come by mid september. I have to find info about PAX now...
paul @ Aug 25th 2008 1:52PM
I hope sony brings naughty dog to pax
SpikeDelight @ Aug 25th 2008 2:05PM
Wow.
Mr Khan @ Aug 25th 2008 2:11PM
Shit. Microsoft and EA, with 2K and Nintendo as a maybe
Further proves the ESA (that's who runs E for All, right?) should just fuse E3 with PAX to make some sort of mega-gamer show that can actually equal TGS
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 2:42PM
If you ask me Leipzig is more relevant than TGS especially because Nintendo never seems to give a crap about TGS.
Mr Khan @ Aug 25th 2008 4:09PM
Seems to me like the only show Nintendo cares about now is PAX, since we know their booth will feature The Conduit. E3 is no longer for gamers, no-show at Liepzig and TGS
Otimus @ Aug 25th 2008 2:13PM
I wish we could have a game convention that was robust, and not hellishly expensive.
Like our very own TGS. But I guess that's asking too much.
ElectricTurtle @ Aug 25th 2008 3:22PM
Otimus: You do realize that PAX offers metric ftons more stuff already for half the price of E4Empty? It's the most affordable content-packed show I've ever seen. DefCon costs more and gives less.
Diskoboy7 @ Aug 25th 2008 2:39PM
They're giving away free extacy?
Honestly - "E for All" sounds more like a rave than a gaming event.
Abd S @ Aug 25th 2008 2:53PM
That is not a chart, that is a table.
ronaldhennessy @ Aug 25th 2008 2:53PM
Become "an hero" E for All 2008, just like Digitallife.
pfooN @ Aug 25th 2008 6:51PM
Need a new E3...these one isnt.
UkuleleSHIMA @ Aug 25th 2008 8:48PM
I was there last year and liked where it was going. Got to play GHIII and Rock Band before most and that was worth the price alone. Those's getting to play Brawl and MDS4 for the first time were happy as welll. Old E3 it isnt but there's no reason this show couldn't be successful with the backing of even just 2-3 more publishers' support. Maybe its because Im a So Calif resident and want a good gaming event "in my backard" that i can actually attend.
PAX looks to be awesome this year but there's no way I'm traveling way up there just to play GHWT before its released. :)
drun @ Aug 26th 2008 12:13AM
E for EA
Dave A. @ Aug 26th 2008 1:49AM
Wow. Just wow.
The ESA can't accomplish what they're trying to do, yet PAX can and does so without any membership dues.
What the hell are those ESA monies going towards?! (besides good beer and high-rent ladies, that is)
Shiaoran @ Aug 26th 2008 8:46PM
"E for All 208 will be a great event for everyone in the game community."
Of course it will! TIME TRAVEL! YAY!
flowergurl @ Sep 27th 2008 2:54PM
The registration site won't accept my priority code.. grrrrrrrrr..!!
