Warhawk Fallen Star expansion Aug. 28, $7.99
Following the Leipzig unveiling, Incognito has dated, priced and detailed, in painstaking, um, detail, the third Warhawk expansion pack, Operation: Fallen Star. An update on PlayStation.Blog has the exhaustive breakdown, but let's scroll down to the good part: "Operation: Fallen Star is being released on August 28th worldwide [this Thursday!] and is $7.99 in the PlayStation Store." In addition, a new "Booster Combo Pack" will combine all three Warhawk expansions into a tidy $15.99 download, making the complete Warhawk experience just $46 through the PS Store.
And, in case you missed it, we've embedded an encore presentation of the Fallen Star trailer after the break. Did someone say, rocket packs?
[Thanks, AlterEgo]

Not just rocket packs, but rocket packs that enable you to leap out of either seat of a warhawk while in flight. Can't wait.
AlterEgo @ Aug 25th 2008 1:40PM
LMAO I wonder what the Warhawk (or Nemesis) will do in these situations:
1) Two players in a jet, pilot jumps out; does the passenger automatically take over the pilot seat?
2) One player in jet, pilot jumps out...does the jet fall to its' destruction? or does it hover to the ground?
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 1:57PM
"2) One player in jet, pilot jumps out...does the jet fall to its' destruction? or does it hover to the ground?"
It would be really cool if it crashed especially against enemy land units killing them in the process.
Killing 3 enemies that way should be a trophy.
AlterEgo @ Aug 25th 2008 2:06PM
@ Mr. ESC,
That WOULD be one helluva bomb to drop on the enemy base
lmao

All I can think of is Tribes! That game was so awesome...
*wistfully remembers disc gun*
AlterEgo @ Aug 25th 2008 1:38PM
Aug 27 - v1.5 Patch including custom music/soundtracks, trophies, playable training tutorial for beginners, ceremonial blades, and 20 new paint jobs
Aug 28 - Operation: Fallen Star including jetpacks avaliable for every map, 30 new map layouts, AND a new map with 10 of its own layouts (Tau Crater)
Fuckyes.
Fuck. Yes.

I saw that screenshot, and for whatever reason, thought they were making a sequel to WarHammer 40K Fire Warrior :~
Warhawk expansion is good enough though. Haven't played since February, and Rocket Packs are probably the best reason to ever dust off game case.

OMG BOBA FETT Confirmed for Warhawk,ZOMG!!!111Eleven.
For what I know Warhawk is online only like some sort of MMO,I would really like to play it if it had a single player Campaing or something since I don't like games that are online only like MG:O,Shadowrun or Confrontation
Nate @ Aug 25th 2008 2:09PM
it's nothing like an MMO, besides the fact that there's no single player campaign. Really, the multiplayer is what makes Halo, TF2, COD4 the juggernauts that they are, not the single player (is there a single player for TF2? I don't even know) Instead of putting time into a crappy single player, the dev team makes the multiplayer that much better. Why have it any other way?
If you don't like it, ok, that's fine, but that's the whole point of the game. It's like saying you don't like Final Fantasy, because you don't like RPGs. Well, fine, don't play it. It's not meant for you.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 2:29PM
Crappy Single player Campaign? Are you sure you really played COD4? I think it was awesome also that in some games like Gears of war the Single player is way better than the online modes.
In the case of TF2 well it was included in the Orange Box so basically it was a complement although many think Portal was the icing in the cake.
What I mean is not that I hate online games for being online (Although I hate the communities) but that they are hard to get into them after a while for example now that I know I pwn at Tf2 I would like to buy the Pc version (Well not now since the updates made the game pretty damn crazy but you can still create you own maps and stuff) but Imagine this I bought warhawk just to discover everyone is playing the expansion, okay I bought the expansion and then I discover I don’t know how to play, that would suck.
Now if it had a single player campaign at least I could play that without buying the expansions and then decide if I would like to get the expansions a process that would be easier if they included more missions for the single player mode making it a no lose situation.
About FF I would like to play FFVI and to be honest I don’t dislike JRPG for being JRPG I dislike them because the characters suck ass, I mean you could have a great story but is really hard to give a crap if you really hate the characters. That’s what happened to me in FF10.
Finally if PS3 fanboys could be less defensive (and dramatic about it) I would like to play Warhawk but is just that I wish it had a Single player mode for all the potential it has.
The again I could play Bot matches in those days when I have lag for some reason but If I like to do that I would've bought Unreal tournament 3.
Nate @ Aug 25th 2008 4:43PM
Mr. Esc - they're actually adding some tutorials to the game specifically to help out newbies, as well as servers dedicated to newbies. I do think it's a very valid point that with no offline you don't have any way to practice before getting into the very difficult online world.... however, these new features (going live this week) should be a big help.
I'm actually not a huge Warhawk fanboy. I played it some when it came out, but I'm not a huge FPS-on-the-console guy, so I dropped it after a while. Yes, campaigns are nice for those of us who don't like hearing the same 3 taunts from 14 year old homophobes... but I think it's perfectly valid to put out an online-only game in the FPS/TPS genre.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 5:56PM
Wow I was downvoted for an honest opinion this better doesn't come from the same guy of the KZ2 post.
"Yes, campaigns are nice for those of us who don't like hearing the same 3 taunts from 14 year old homophobes... "
Actually I love Campaign because they always show the best of the game and you can just pause and continue later. Maybe some people like to play a map until their eyes bleed but that’s not me.
About the tutorials um a long past in online games have taught me that the best way to learn is to play with teh experts and then get a strategy of your own but it can be very frustrating yet satisfactory but what really stops me is the LAG otherwise I would like to buy this.
I'm not afraid of the online gameplay and seriously I've been in 4chan and I have played Gears in the xlive and well there are douchebags but not everyone is like that (If you ask me only people from the U.S are sometimes offensive in a retarded way for example Canadians are pretty cool guis, they play the game normally and doesn't afraid of anything).
What I’m trying to say is that I don’t think game sucks or anything but it would be better if it had a Single player mode but I guess the guy who downvote me thinks the game is perfect therefore no changes need to be done that or I missed something here.
Sometimes is really hard to distinguish between a real opinion or some random fanboy who appeared out of no where and can’t take constructive criticisms without being a douche.
Maurice M @ Aug 25th 2008 1:55PM
Now if only they had taken all that and made a single player game.
Night Elve @ Aug 25th 2008 2:00PM
Why?
Warhawk is perfect as it is.
AlterEgo @ Aug 25th 2008 2:03PM
I don't think it'd have been as successful because it would've been full price and wouldn't have been able to take advantage of budget-pricing at launch. Too, it would have split up the amount of Warhawk owners online I think.
Anyways, they had single-player while in development and removed it to focus on MP and I'm actually glad they did.
HOWEVER, there was talk of a single-player campaign possible with DLC later on down the line. The game is going on a year old, so I'm not sure how MUCH later, but I'm sure if enough people ask, they'd deliver. They're pretty good at listening to their players.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 2:11PM
I agree I would really like to play this game if it had some sort of single player campaign.
I really don't like to play online only games since is only fun if you win and after so many patches and expansions this sort of games become more expensive and harder to get into for newbies.
Maybe if there is a Diamond edition with everything in it I might try it but again I would like to rent it first to see if I could get into it.
Marty @ Aug 25th 2008 2:14PM
It couldn't be perfect the way it is, or else they'd stop releasing packs of stuff for it.
Unless you think they are just nickel-and-dime-ing you. But nah, they'd never do that.
Nate @ Aug 25th 2008 2:14PM
Why? Why why why? See my above comment. This keeps coming back and back and back. COD4 and Halo3 aren't tops on XBL because of their single player. In fact, most people said the Halo 3 single player sucked. Why not make a half dozen new maps, new modes, new vehicles, new weapons, instead of a crappy single player you'll put 6 hours into and hate the whole time?
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 2:36PM
Actually I beg to differ I liked more Halo 3campaing than the online mode especially because the community is a formed by retards or those 12 years olds Vegeta mentioned. Not to mention the Heroic maps were at the end a rip-off and I wasted 800p in a bad deal.
Also I don’t know why but I get insane amounts of lag in Halo. It doesn’t make any sense, If I can play 24 player matches in B:BC and 20 player matches in TF2 why the f*ck I can’t play 6 player matches in Halo 3? I mean Halo maps are pretty much a big room with nothing in them and just 5 other guys jumping around like idiots in areas where in B:BC there are destructible environments and in Tf2 maps are larger and there are more players.
And don’t get me started with matchmaking,
Microswirl (MKWii:1676- 4270-3674) @ Aug 25th 2008 3:01PM
@Nate
That's fine and all, but I would like to atleast be able to play the game against bots. For some reason it takes a really long time for me to connect to a game, and then it's always laggy when I do (it's not my connection, my XBL games all work fine) so I would really like the option to play offline.
Marty @ Aug 25th 2008 3:03PM
Here are a few reasons, Nate:
- Some people like story with their games
- Don't want to deal with or match the skill of other people
- Don't have a constant or fast enough internet connection
- They simply like playing by themselves
Bear in mind I'm playing devil's advocate here, because I believe there is indeed a place for the all-multiplayer game. I'm just sayin'.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 25th 2008 3:47PM
- Some people like story with their games
True I like good stories.
- Don't want to deal with or match the skill of other people
Actually is not really skill, if you play a game long enough you are going to pwn.In Pc games is generally a year although sometimes is not even skill but a competition between who has the fastest connection.
- Don't have a constant or fast enough internet connection
See above.
- They simply like playing by themselves
To be honest I really enjoy Co-op like in Gears of war and story.
“Bear in mind I'm playing devil's advocate here, because I believe there is indeed a place for the all-multiplayer game. I'm just sayin'.”
I also think the same is just that this game has a huge potential to be a Single player game with all the cool stuff in it.
Also by now is proably really hard to get int he game with all the expansions,if it had a single player mode at least I can enjoy that.
j.howlett @ Aug 25th 2008 1:58PM
i am so happy they bundled the expansions.
Albanian_Killa @ Aug 25th 2008 2:43PM
Bad timing for me. That's close to when the SOCOM beta comes out... Would've been sweet if this was released in July instead.
SuperGayParade @ Aug 25th 2008 5:21PM
Some people just can't handle the level of difficulty online play has to offer.
GoonieGooGoo @ Aug 26th 2008 11:13AM
Too bad the online matchmaking for WARHAWK is sooo spotty.....I might actually play it from time to time. Yes...i bought all the expansion packs still.
I still wish for a real WARHAWK Sequel....the new Multiplayer Online version still lacks that certain something that made the original such a wonderful game.
