Alien Crush remake heading to North American WiiWare

Descriptively titled Alien Crush Returns, the download was released today in Japan and is based on the 1988 classic, which itself is available on WiiWare's sister service. While a date for the game's North American debut has not yet been announced, Hudson notes the follow-up will again be played across two screens and an unspecified number of boards, each no doubt filled with galactic baddies with a lust for silver balls. Most interesting, however, is news that Alien Crush Returns will support two-player online play as well as include online leader boards, with Hudson promising multiple online tournaments for the pinball-obsessed to throw down with their E.T. crushing skills.

"All the better to see--- wait. No, you're right. This doesn't make sense in the least."
All we need now is CRUE BALL, and my Wii's pinball trifecta is set.

Damn, I may have to go buy a Wii now....hopefully they port it to 360 or PS3.

I used to love this game. This kid I knew had the TG16, he was the only one in school who owned it. He took such horrible care of it. The buttons would be all sticky from soda and food debris. God I hated that kid.

Damn I remember playing this back when it first came out on TurboGraphix-16 game was fun to play then and hopefully they'll also release an update to Devils Crush. Funny thing is I doubt alot of kids these days even remember playing this game and will just ignore it just cause its a pinball game. Damn shame.

Oh kick ass! I'm going to be playing the original on my flight to Toronto with my vintage TurboExpress! 6AA never got used up so fast!
That being said, It's rapidly becoming clear that old-school classic games seem to be making more of a comeback on the Wii more so than 360 or ps3.
tmacairjordan87 @ Aug 26th 2008 1:23PM
Oooh hope there's nothing in the game that looks like that. That's a little too scary for a lot of wii owners :P

Figures. One of the VERY few VC games I purchase gets a superior remake later. Now I know how people who bought Pac-Man on XBLA felt when Pac-Man CE came out.
mietha CAG @ Aug 26th 2008 1:41PM
Awesome. Now put it on a real fucking system.
Tiptup300 @ Aug 26th 2008 1:48PM
You know a game that deserves a remake? Monster Bash.
Shagittarius @ Aug 26th 2008 1:58PM
Those graphics are 'crushing' my interest in this game.
Fernando Rocker @ Aug 26th 2008 3:15PM
Look some footage... the graphics are very good. And you have to consider that is a WiiWare game (50MB limit).

Wiiware is continuing to turn into a garbage service, this is ridiculous. The launch of the service was somewhat encouraging with Lost Winds and FF coming out, but pretty everything since then has been trash or remakes. Not to say remakes = trash, but it's just not original enough for me...
tmacairjordan87 @ Aug 26th 2008 4:35PM
I shouldn't do this but...I told you guys so?
It was fairly easy to know how wiiware was going to turn out. All you have to do is look at the trends of wii games and VC games and it's easy to assume wiiware will suck too.
Markez @ Aug 26th 2008 4:45PM
I've by and large found XBLA to be utter garbage as well, Braid is the first game I've ever purchased. I've been fairly satisfied with VC and WiiWare to be honest. Have a handful of VC games and three WiiWare games that I've been happy enough with.
But I think we could better settle this argument over a game of BEER PONG YOU PANSY! Well or whatever it was they changed that stupid games name to. Point taken.
JoeTheBlow @ Aug 26th 2008 2:52PM
Holy fuck-buckets!
That image has now given me nightmares for the next fortnight!
crackp1pe @ Aug 26th 2008 5:17PM
So this is pretty cool I guess. But I have to ask the obvious... Wouldn't something like this make a lot more sense as a DS game? If I were going to remake a pinball game and there was a great system that had two screens arranged vertically... I would definitely do that instead. Plus then people might actually buy it. This... probably will end up under the radar for most people.
