Big Download breaks down this fall's top PC games
Don't believe the hype: PC gaming, while not the juggernaut of year's past, is doing just fine, thank you. One need look no further than Big Download's roundup of the fall's biggest PC releases. Of course, the list is full of the big AAA releases one would expect – that would be your Wrath of the Lich Kings, your Warhammer Onlines, your Spores, your – but just as interesting is the huge amount of multiplatform games hitting the platform. Silent Hill Homecoming, Saints Row 2, Dead Space, Prince of Persia. In other words, there's something for everyone. So hop in and see what PC gamers have in store this year.

Coming from someone who has a 360, DS, Wii and pretty good PC, i simply play more games on PC than anything else. Playing through Crysis again now that my PC can handle High Detail smoothly, finishing off Dungeon Siege 2 finally in hardest difficulty, trying to find time to finish UT3, Bioshock, Timeshift, Stalker and FFVII (Pc Version). Next in line is the Wii, played about 10x more than the 360/DS combined. Pc gaming will always be strong, especially with the price of PCs now. Here in Australia, I can build a PC for cheaper than a Ps3 that can play Crysis on High smoothly.

FFVII PC Version? No offense, but wouldn't it be easier and better just to pick up the PS1 discs and emulate it? The PC version kinda sucked, in addition to having awful controls.

I realize pc building is cheap (just built one,) but I wouldn't go as far as you said.

"Smoothly" is a relative adjective.

He also left out what resolution he's playing at.

I won't be leaving the house this fall
or winter
or possibly spring

That was pretty poetic, especially next to your avatar.

I happen to own FFVII for the PC, care to share those updates? I've been looking for a patch cause the game has aged horribly on my laptop.

#@%@ this new comment system for me is a little annoying, could it default to the returning users please?

This "Most Anticipated" list sort of fails.. horribly.
It doesn't really distinguish any titles, it just lists everything being released this fall.
I mean, Witcher Enhanced Edition is just a pre-patched copy of the original game. It might be a higly anticipated patch, but really. Its a patch.
Then there is Crysis: Warhead. Its a expansion pack. Sure, its stand alone, but the target audience for it? People who own Crysis.
Sure a lot of stuff on this list is highly anticipated, but its not a list of "Highly Anticipated" games its a list of "Most Anticipated" games, and its failure to make any attempt to distinguish the two causes the list to feel really weak in general.

They're more anticipated than the constant slew of point-and-click adventures constantly being churned out from people in basements with $200 budgets.

Crysis Warhead, the mod. Are you kidding me? Theres 5 billion reason you shouldnt pick up that game.
Haggard @ Aug 26th 2008 11:58AM
And here's a reason you should: It's £15.

Not what I want. Now, something like Mega Man or WWE would draw my interest!
Especially a truly excellent WWE game, there hasn't been a PC title with the license (regardless of quality or genre) since 2002.
Kassu @ Aug 26th 2008 8:48AM
Why the heck isn't Prototype on the list?

As an owner of all, I love the PC the most, and probably spend more time on playing PC Games then all of my consoles combined. The 360 is definitely a close 2nd along with my DS. I don't know what it is about the PC as a platform, but I love using mouse/keyboard and I love the types of games available to the platform, and I'm not even a WoW or MMO player.
I have to admit though, after playing the Warhammer beta, I'm pretty damned excited about that game, more so then I ever thought I would. It's such a community based game, I think a lot of people are going to digg it. It won't rival WoW like numbers, but I think it will easily have a healthy player base to sustain it, and probably do better then Age of Conan in the coming months.
Between Stalker CS, Spore, Crysis Warhead, Fallout 3, Sacred 2(!!!), Warhammer, Left4Dead, Dead Space, Farcry 2, BF Heroes, Quake Live, etc..it's a great time for PC Gaming as usual.

It's been a great time for me for PC gaming since last December when I picked up TF2.
But I agree that there's a lot of good games coming up.
