Leipzig Convention without industry support, gloats Gamescom
The organizers for next year's Cologne-based Gamescom event want you to know that their show will be the 'new European games platform for the international games community." Taking place from September 9th to September 13th, 2009, Gamescom has thrown down the gauntlet and cast a demeaning glare towards the recently concluded (and returning) Leipzig Games Convention. "It was to be expected that the Leipzig trade fair would try to keep the topic in its 2009 programme as well by announcing its date," said Oliver P. Kuhrt, managing director of Gamescom organiser Koelnmesse. "But they will have to do it without the industry for the most part. The lead trade fair will take place in Cologne in 2009 and beyond." Despite posting improved attendance numbers this year, Kuhrt is adamant that it's time to move 'zig down from its biggest-show-in-town status. "Whatever happens in Germany in 2009 outside of Cologne cannot claim to represent this sector."
It figures that the organizers of a trade show would exhibit such a fine "Oh snap," but we think it best to wait and see if the Cologne show offers up something to sniff at.

I know this is amazingly off-topic but i need a question answered. It was confirmed a while back that downloaded content from GH3 on Ps3/360 is playable on World Tour. Does this mean, that since World Tour on Wii has downloadable songs, that the entire downloadable GH3 library will be made available in guitar-only form to be downloaded on the Wii version? Does this also mean people who buy GH:WT who never owned GH3 will be able to get GH3 downloadable songs for thier versions, in guitar-only mode obviously, irrespective of platform.?

That article states that the DLC on GH3 probably won't work with any future version (I don't believe they've announced if the DLC will work or not, furthering the point that it probably won't) and plus, since when has the Wii had DL songs?

It was announced a month or so ago that downloaded Ps3/360 songs from GH3 would be playable on World Tour. I know the Wii doesnt have any DLC for GH3, which is why i was wondering if the downloadable GH3 content for 360/Ps3 will be made available for the Wii version of GH:WT, in guitar-only mode, since WT DOES have DLC.

What do you mean you people?.

I would think that the Guitar Hero songs surrently available on the Wii will be accessible in GHWT. If the entire Guitar Hero library is currently not available on the Wii, I would not expect it to be any time in the future.
I am sure that people who play GHWT and not GH3 will be able to access Guitar Hero 3 DLC on the PS3/360.
What is guitar-only mode? does it exist for the PS3/360? If not, then the answer to your last question would be no, as someone cannot have something that does not exist.

Seen from a local perspective (well at least the same country) Leipzig is the better location. The former GDR area needs some serious cashflow and a yearly expo with international attendants would be just the right thing. Cologne on the other hand is the quasi monopolistic media capitol of Germany anyway, plugging the Gamescom there would be just carrying sand to the beach. Having two different events just makes no sense. This is again just made by these Koelnmesse (Cologne Expo) people which is a business by itself just to get expos to stay in Cologne, they don't need it but they're ruining a good show for their profits. They built the halls and expo centers and didn't think about the fact that there are several ways to have an expo and that other locations might actually be preferred. Then they decided to do aggressive marketing and now we've got that "two shows in different places for the same reason" bullshit going again. The games business really starts to get the entertainment industry mainstream problems.
