Sin City game changes devs, still coming
Red Mile's interactive adaptation of Frank Miller's landmark, hard boiled graphic novel(s), Sin City, has a new-ish developer. The title was originally being handled – presumably with those special gloves used for working with razor wire – by Transmission Games, the same outfit producing Heroes Over Europe for Red Mile. Both games have 2009 release dates.
The publisher, who is working with Atari to get its games onto shelves, tells GameSpot that work on Sin City: The Game was handed to another developer "quite some time ago." Said developer's identity is unknown, but we do know that Frank Miller practically hand-picked his old pal (and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay writer) Flint Dille to "spearhead the design, scriptwriting, story generation, and overall production" of the game, which will – unsurprisingly – utilize Unreal Engine 3. Also, the color red. Lots of it.
(And no, the new developer isn't Platinum Games, despite MadWorld's more-than-vague resemblance to Sin City.)

Switching devs? I hear the death knell for this game, ever so faintly.

Yeah, that's not a real good sign.

The Spirit will be awesome.

This IP has so much potential it frightens me, though I can't help but think that it will be butchered like so many games of its background. A Sin City game done as a cross between Max Payne and GTA would be very cool, especially when following the visual style.

oh no doubt, but don't count on it. This will more likely be mission based. Turn a corner in a sin city and you can find anything...more likely a deeply detailed cinematic shot that you can walk around in stand still and you'll get a cool silhouette shot.

Sin City wouldn't really work with that open world style though, the entire point is that it is highly story driven, if you give people the option of doing anything it would just take away the magic of Sin City, they couldnt make an open world game detailed enough to capture the stylistic details of the city.
Plus you'd have to change characters, which would also be very strange in an open world setting.
I really hope they make this a good game, so far i have nothing but praise for everything thats been done with Sin City, the comics and the films, but its always gonna be difficult to adapt it to a game, the style of story telling brings that.

I agree with vidGuy that the potential in this IP is high. I have hope that once the game is finished it'll be good.

This game could be really awesome. Could be. The chances of them messing it up are higher than not, which is a shame.
If they don't let you face-drag people while driving it definately won't be worth it.

I really hope this means that Rodriguez will get his ass moving on the next one

I always thought Mad World looked like Brute!'s (the guy who does the KMFDM album artwork) more than Frank Miller's.

I wish they would use another engine. Nothing wrong with the Unreal engine, but too many games use that engine and then the game doesn't feel that unique.
