Probably not, since the super nintendo cartridge wouldn't fit in there. :)

@ Ridgecity

Nintendo reached the pinnacle of quality construction with the NES controllers. Damned things were nigh immortal. Things made afterward never really compared to those bricks of genius. The N64 controller on the other hand, may well have been the bottom of controller quality. I still have nightmares about loose analog sticks.

You're joking right BigD? As if the Snes Mario Kart can compare. Yes it was good, the N64 one was better, by a significant margin. 4-Players and Battle Mode helped that along.

Redundant argument anyway. The DS version is easily better than the others.

While the image of a discarded console (especially an N64) is always saddening (especially when discarded with such callous). Is this really worthy of being front-page Joystiq news material?

PROTIP: Joystiq is a blog, not a news site. They can post about anything, as long as it has a sliver of resemblence to video games.

Oh, and this reminds me of the time my friend went out into his backyard and found a jacket hanging on his fencepost. Inside, the jacket had blood on it. There was a plastic bag hanging on the post inside the jacket with an SNES in it. Oh, and there was a gun in the jacket pocket. Yeah, he didn't live in the best part of town.

Now accepting possible backstories for this scenario.

Ouch! for some emo reason this made me really sad.
I had a lot of memories with the N64, and now seeing it like that brings a tear to my eye. It's like seeing my child (if I had one) growing up

successfully, developed a drug abuse problem because of enemy corporations, and ending up a a junkie lost forever...

All those hours of playing "Shadows of the Empire" are the proudest moments a father can have (if I was a father of course).
All those hours playing

Anyone ever pop open the analog module on a well-used N64 controller? It looks like you're hiding cocaine in it. Abysmal design on that analog stick, but still a fun system.

N64 is the ghettoest console ever, the system most at home in a pawn shop window, so while I don't approve of disposing of perfectly good hardware, this photo seems somehow fitting for this system. I've never understood the rabid fanbase of this system (passions are probably amplified by feelings of being the underdog). Electing it the best system of all time on Filter on G4 was a farce, when there are so many more deserving systems with fans of more refined taste. Not that I hate the N64 or anything, there just aren't very many worthwhile games for it, and the popular ones aren't as great as people act like they are. Not enough to make up for the low number of games.

But Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye are golden memories now...some of the best gaming I've ever had.

Well, I for one preferred the N64 to PS(u)X any day. Goldeneye, Super Mario 64, Turok the Dinosaur Hunter, Shadows of the Empire and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time were better games than any of the Playstation 1 games, except maybe Final Fantasy 7.

The PSX was the most overrated system EVER. Tomb Raider 1, 2 and 3?! Those games played like a$$. Resident Evil?! The crappiest camera angles and play mechanics ever in a game. And Crash Bandicoot was a poor man's Sonic.
