Immersion shakes $20.75 million into Microsoft's coffers

It appears that everything is now ship-shake between all the corporations involved and we can continue enjoying the jiggles we get from our controllers.

That's not even enough to fill Gate's bath tub!
ColossalHat @ Aug 27th 2008 12:37PM
But it is enough to buy another third-party exclusive from Sony or to guarantee more exclusive content for third-party games.
Zertoss @ Aug 27th 2008 12:40PM
Now THAT'S walking around money!
Jake11 @ Aug 27th 2008 12:41PM
congrats Microsoft, another drop in that giant bucket of yours
Albanian_Killa @ Aug 27th 2008 12:42PM
I bought a DualShock 3 recently and I fucking love it. Honestly, best controller ever made. I don't know how I ever put up with my SIXAXS lol
AlterEgo @ Aug 27th 2008 12:50PM
Until you add the inverted triggers, you don't love your controller.
deaftly @ Aug 27th 2008 12:55PM
Sixasses was such a cheap piece of shit, It hasnt been touched since I got the DS3. 360 controller still owns all though.
Shmil @ Aug 27th 2008 1:46PM
i love the cupped sticks and what's an inverted trigger?
Albanian_Killa @ Aug 27th 2008 2:40PM
Inverted triggers? No thanks. You see, I can actually keep my finger on the trigger and not have it slip. It's no challenge. And yes, I love my controller. I hope the analogs also stay in the same placement.
philmcphail @ Aug 27th 2008 5:30PM
Actually all of this depends on a person's opinion, of course. Inverted triggers is okay, but should be only for shooters. IMHO, the 360 triggers sucks when it comes to instant pressing. Like in Condemned 2, its slow and sometimes doesn't read my actions, or currently Army of Two when you try to melee an enemy. However, most GOOD games on the PS3 use the R1 & L1 buttons for the main attack buttons. The PS3's Triggers (L2 & R2) sucks and should ONLY be used as a secondary button like the 360's (RB AND LB). By secondary I mean stuff like switching weapons or something.
BTW, I do not speak for everyone, this is just my opinion. I like each controller for special games.
Like the 360's big snug fit and kick-ass left thumbstick placing on the controller for shooters. And the PS3 controller's small easy hold, its D PAD, and the flat more-instant face buttons for fighting/hack'n'slash games and maybe survival horrors (that would need that kinda swiftness).

I don't care what anyone says, microsoft is one smart corporation.
Wiinterfang @ Aug 27th 2008 12:56PM
It is, I mean do you really thing any other company could have make a game console that's successful?
Say whatever you like but the Xbox and Halo redefined gaming as we know it. (whether is for the best or for that worse it's up to you to decided)
Cody @ Aug 27th 2008 2:49PM
"Say whatever you like but the Xbox and Halo redefined gaming as we know it."
LMAO, the only thing that redefinded was a small percentage of the gaming community into becoming "hardc00rzz!!" elitist bastards that isolate and seclude themselves to one another while bannishing any and every thing not a carbon copy of it. (i.e. Wii, non FPS genre, non Microsoft made consoles, the female gender, daylight, friends they actually have seen in person)
TwEE @ Aug 27th 2008 3:38PM
What are you smoking Wiinterfang?
Zeus.:God @ Aug 27th 2008 4:42PM
He's kind of right... Halo and the Xbox did bring a lot to gaming, and had the Xbox not been around, obviously the 360 wouldn't be around, and the PS3 wouldn't be as impressive as it is, nor would it have an internal hard drive.
I agree with Wiinterland- the original Xbox and the 360 have both majorly affected gaming, for better or worse.
Wiinterfang @ Aug 27th 2008 9:08PM
I'm smoking the eyeopening bong of truth.
Think about it, if the xbox and halo had never existed then shooters would have stayed on PC and Japan would have continue to be the mayor market.
But when the halo crazed over the world a lot of new American companies opened, being they famous the American development manage to rise and become equal and in some case best than the Japan one.
Now thanks to that A bunch of American companies had become rich an that help the American economy and make gaming more popular and Mainstream.
Just look at the new rosters, while I'm not fond of shooters I have to agreed that Halo has become the most influential game of the last generation whether some like it or not.
Kapow.

Regardless, that's good news for the green giant.

The huge graphic with the garish yellow text might be a tip-off to impending puns.

Alarm bells are ringing, Reuben.

Maverick Saturn @ Aug 27th 2008 1:26PM
Alternativly, they could spoil the gamers who have spent most of thier lives raising thier gamerscore so that they feel worthy to live in society again and thier work wasn't in vain.
But knowing Micro, that won't happen, lmao

Any of you aspiring businessmen take note. This is how you secure resources, albeit with timely limits , and screwing over your competition a little bit at a time.
Kudos to those suits at Microsoft for saving some cash from patent trolls, and at the same time helping out this patent troll Immersion by asking Sony to ante up.
fischju @ Aug 27th 2008 1:09PM
If I worked at Immersion, I would so third-party a check from Sony and give it to Microsoft
Maverick Saturn @ Aug 27th 2008 1:21PM
Anyone would think all of you were getting a slice of the cash the way you're going on :S Lol
20 mill is a nice little bonus, but its nothing that Microsoft couldn't have made themselves in a couple of months ^^
Anywho, I suppose thats great news on Microsoft's part, so kudos to them :) That should mean being spent on the production of something entirely new, look forward to it.
mewoks @ Aug 27th 2008 1:25PM
$20.75 million? That's almost twice as much money as what the 360 has made in Japan!
Psaakyrn @ Aug 27th 2008 2:34PM
Microsoft made a profit in Japan?

Isn't this the same company that raped Sony in a lawsuit as well????
LordChimp @ Aug 27th 2008 2:12PM
Nevermind, it is. I just skimmed the article and didn't bother reading the entire thing. :|

na2ru1 @ Aug 27th 2008 7:30PM

Yeah Ellers @ Aug 28th 2008 1:53PM
"(i.e. Wii, non FPS genre, non Microsoft made consoles, the female gender, daylight, friends they actually have seen in person)"
Yeah just replace FPS with Ratchet and Clank or MSG4, and Microsoft with Sony and that's your typical Sony fanboy. cuts both ways bruh
