Nerdcore Rising will have its west coast premiere at PAX
Warning! There's an expletive-filled trailer below for the film Nerdcore Rising. It also features people binge drinking Yoo-Hoo, just so we have full disclosure. If you haven't heard about the movie before, it's a documentary that follows MC Frontalot on his first national tour as he goes from South Carolina to last year's PAX, where he was captured on film by our own Christopher Grant.
Nerdcore, which is trying hard to become its own genre of music, features songs about everything from Dungeons & Dragons to 8-bit video games, and the film explores what that's all about with Frontalot, his band, and several other Nerdcore artists. The film premiered at SXSW in Austin earlier this year, but PAX gets the goodness of the first-ever west coast showing of the flick this Saturday at 4pm. Head below the break to see the special PAX trailer for the movie, created by director Negin Farsad and MC Frontalot himself.

Frontalot, yo why you come so ill-equipped?
Erluti @ Aug 27th 2008 3:47PM
well that trailer was uninformative.

I can't believe not 2 seconds of nerdcore hip-hop were to be had in that entire trailer. Fail.

I'm a huge Frontalot fan but have never made it to PAX and can't this weekend. :( Going to be in Mexico instead.
O well, I'll look forward to Penny Arcade's DVD set of PAX - they're usually very good and the concert footage is pretty awesome.

despite idolizing one of the nerdiest lamest raps of all time with my avatar & name, I can't say I follow the scene much.
So help me out here, is MC Frontalot the same guy that did a song with Kompressor? something about crushing rappers? I remember it was pretty bumpin.
Arrowned @ Aug 27th 2008 8:25PM
That was indeed Frontalot.
Thranx @ Aug 27th 2008 9:07PM
Dude... props for the "Don't Copy That Floppy" avatar.

I don't know. It's nice to know that somebody's trying to cater to gamers with music, but it just doesn't seem to click. It's trying too hard, i think, much like the gamer movies (not movies about games, but shit like LAN Party Massacre)
Dragod @ Aug 27th 2008 4:37PM
This isn't the same guy in the G4 commercials, is it?
The article picture made me think it was him, but the video it didn't look quite like him.
Dragod @ Aug 27th 2008 4:38PM
I guess it is. I found the commercials on YouTube.
Boffo the Sock @ Aug 27th 2008 4:40PM
"Noooo! We can't! It's forbidden!" Come on! Hump her! Make a bearaffe!... or a giraffeabear.
Riley @ Aug 28th 2008 3:08PM
if i remember correctly, mc chris didn't want to have anything to do with the movie
Boffo the Sock @ Aug 28th 2008 4:37PM
Uh... what movie?
Riley @ Aug 29th 2008 3:11AM
nerdcore rising
MIKE @ Aug 27th 2008 8:00PM

This is sort of bullshit. The first nerdcore band I remember were from the 90s. Son Of Alf! Best fucking band ever. Anyway, they weren't second rate rappers that relied on their subject material to get fans.
