Although no official details about the PS3 wireless keypad's pricing or launch date (beyond "late November") have been released, Amazon.com is shedding a little light on the situation. The online retailer currently has the peripheral listed at $49.99 with a ship date of Nov. 30.
Although the date may be a placeholder, an Amazon representative informs us, "Pricing details come from our vendors. So that is the price that Sony gave us." Once again, Sony hasn't made any official statements about pricing, but retailers seem to be getting some details.
A recent poll on PS3 Fanboy showed that 46% of responders would pay no more than $20. Only 4% of participants would actually pay the current listed price for the peripheral.

It's bluetooth wireless, so it's actually independent of the controller. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 360 one connects through the controller? So, this one needs to have its own bluetooth radio, battery, etc.
Also, they've said it can be used as a mouse (somehow running a finger over the keys in "mouse mode" turns it into a type of track pad... weird).

And how much would I real keyboard cost you? $5-$10!
This add-on fails just like it did on 360.

The 360 MK has been my favorite add-on. I bought it day one and have used it thousands of times since.
I won't be getting this for my PS3. $50 is too much, and regardless, it looks like it will make the DS3 too top heavy. Ps3 controllers are awkward to grip as is.

I use to use a keyboard on my 360 but I won a Messenger Kit from Joystiq/X3F a long time ago and haven't touched the keyboard sense. Also comes with a headset which is great because those things are always breaking. Love my chatpad, couldn't be on Live without it. Always have my controller in hand, seems cumbersome to have to set it down and hunt for my keyboard anytime I wanna send a text message. I like the added weight it gives the controller as well, and doesn't take away from any comfort.

"Why don't you just plug in a keyboard to the 360 and save money? It can't be comfortable to type on these things."
The 360 MK is actually very comfortable. They did a great job keeping the balance of the 360 controller so even though it weighs a little more, it doesn't interfere with your hand placement. Once it's plugged in, it looks like it should have been part of the controller all along.

Never had an issue with it myself, even with a 360 controller and Wii controller in constant use, I kind of like difference :) So its nice to switch between the three as each has its great and annoying points.

I agree. I find the 360's controller much more comfortable to hold. It feels like it can take some abuse too. The PS3 controller uses essentially the same design as the PS1 controller. Hello Sony, it's not the mid-90's anymore!

Sony just needs to make a bigger bulkier version for people with big hands.DS3 feels really tiny right now.

The playstation controllers are actually my favorite but I am suprised a 3rd party periphial company hasn't released a decent 360 mimic for the PS3 by now.
I can see how some people may not like the Playstation controller if they have really big hands or play alot of shooters.

I just think the dual analog controls should be moved really there in a strange sport for your thumbs to be comfortable.

Not really, I actually find the DS the most comfortable one.
Big reason why I don't play the 360, or even the Xbox back on its days, was that I found not only the controllers too big, but also the buttom layout very uncomfortable...and I so wanted to play Ninja Gaiden, Conker, Dino Crisis 3, and now for the 360 Castle Crashers :(

Well, while bulky isn't too bad, theres a difference between 360 bulky and original xbox bulky, that was ridiculous, and as long as we never see those days again, I'm happy with all controllers given to me. I have regualr sized hands, I don't have tiny hands or paws, so any controller this gen is fine by me.

I prefer the PS controller.
I don't have a problem holding either the 360/PS or the 360 controllers. My preference for the PS3 comes from the buttons and build quality. I like the feel of the triggers and D-pad a lot more. Also, the controller feels more solid in that there is not a lot of play between the buttons and frame.

Brings me to the next question. What do you think was the most important controller ever. I am going to have to go with the n64 one. Not only did it have analog control but it had the first trigger for shooters. Plus it was really comfortable to boot.

I loved the DS2 but really cant stand the Sixaxis controller. The trigger feels awful and the weight is just too little for me. The 360 pad as a whole is a lot more comfortable to me. That being said, I have yet to get a DS3 to try out.
Also, the price of this new addon is way too high in my opinion. The MS one was cheap and works really well, so I think they are missing the mark here.

Most important controller is a hard question to answer. Some could argue that the Pong or Atari's 2600 controllers are the most important, as they are the first.
The N64 is a strong contender though, with their joystick and trigger.

the 360 pad is way better than older xbox controllers but i prefer the playstation pads because i have a thing for bilateral symmetry. the symbols are easier to remember than letters for me and it feels better, but like i said the 360 pad is much improved. the wiimote and chuck are great but i don't think they're for every game type.

It's ALL ABOUT the positioning of the left analog stick. It makes all the difference.
360 (wired) and GameCube pads are excellent, comfortable controllers. Wireless 360 pads are still comfy, but people with big hands might not like the battery pack =(

As much as it looks nice and all, that price tag is a bit high, so I'll pass. However, should they lower that price, I may be tempted.

$49.99!?!?!!?
Seriously Sony, waaaay too expensive! Fifty dollars for a tiny keyboard when you can get full size full featured wireless keyboard(with built in trackpads) for the same price or less is a joke!
I love my PS3, and I am a huge fan of Sony, but this peripheral is massively overpriced. A price between twenty and thirty dollars would have made much more sense.
I guess the same people who pay two dollars for Hot Shots characters and five dollars for one course are the same people who would pay fifty dollars for a twenty dollar peripheral.
Oh well, I guess it's better than giving their money to Microsoft and their garbage XBox.

I agreed with you all the way up to the xbox bashing part. At least Microsoft's was cheaper and came with a headset for $29.99.
I really don't know what Sony is thinking with that price. For that price, you think the keyboard had a tilt sensor and rumble in it.

From the looks of things, this doesn't look like you have to change the way you hold it either :S Unless you hold yours backwards or something, lol
