No, the only real problem is what the attack isn't. As fans of The Dark Knight know, the Joker's real fatality is blindingly obvious. Because, honestly, who doesn't love a good magic trick?
Watch the Joker's MK vs. DC fatality

So what's the problem with the Joker's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe fatality (seen at about 3:40 into the video after the break)? Well, nothing per se, it's a perfectly silly, violent way for the criminal mastermind to finish off his foes, and is actually surprisingly brutal for the game's Teen rating.
No, the only real problem is what the attack isn't. As fans of The Dark Knight know, the Joker's real fatality is blindingly obvious. Because, honestly, who doesn't love a good magic trick?

Of course. It's been that way for years. The only MK game i can remember that i loved seeing all the fatalities repeatedly was Mortal Kombat 4, which i still to this day say is the best MK game ever. The jump to 3D worked well and the fatalities were gorier than ever. Obviously being amazingly fun to play helped. Seeing anything repeatedly, no matter how cool, will always get old. Kinda like fanboys or 'no games on the Wii' arguments.

I thought the Joker's FATALITY move was to OD on a bunch of sleeping pills?

Wow, the Flash is moving pretty dang slow in the beginning of that clip. You see those floaty jumpkicks?

I was thinking the same thing. The Joker was moving faster. And this guy is supposed to be faster than light.
As for the Joker's fatality- I like it, but yeah, magic pencil would have been several gojira's better.

Where's the ridiculous gobs of blood spurting?!
I may be in the minority here, but I still don't like the idea of the sweet ultraviolence of the MK world being mixed in the the kiddie violence of the classic DC comic book characters. It lowers the bar of enjoyment for me.

At least it's something new. You could always... you know... not buy it if you don't like the concept. (crazy, I know)

So, according to you, a person should never post any negative opinion they have about a game? You could go through every critical post about every game on this site and say "Well just don't buy it then if you don't like it". He never even said he wouldn't buy it; he was just pointing out an aspect of the game he didn't like. I thought the forums were a place to critique games.

You are not alone. I'm not buying it for that exact reason. MK has always been about the stupid, immature, over the top violence. Take that away, and you take the main reason I buy it (there are plenty of other fighters out there that have far superior gameplay).

The DC universe can actually be incredibly dark and bloody. The only reason its being portrayed as lighter is because the adaptations of DC, tv shows, cartoons, and movies, most of which are less dark, are much higher profile than the originals.

It's a lot like a mini-version of the Diablo 3 situation here. Mortal Kombat, the franchise, the intellectual property, the characters, story, and universe, not the gameplay or game genre necessarily, is all about tons of violence and gore. (Whether one likes it or not is another story.) It's not a good idea to change the tone of a series, in either direction, once it's caught on. I think that, unlike Blizzard with Diablo (despite Brian Morrisroe's early claims), Ed Boon and co. LIKE Mortal Kombat enough to not change the tone any more than they HAVE to, and looking at the footage, it's a lot closer to the other MKs than I would have thought possible with a Teen rating. So I give the MKvsDCU team kudos for keeping Mortal Kombat Mortal Kombat. Good job!

Btw, if the game is rated T for Teen, why the hell is there an age check at the beginning of the video...

Don't they only have the license to the comic books, and not to the movies?
Disappointing, I know, but I don't think they have the rights to our favorite magic trick.

To me Mark Hamill will always be the best Joker. I liked the crazed enthusiasm compared to Heath Ledger's more sombre Joker.

The Joker was a great character. As soon as the Dark Knight comes along, Heath Ledger makes him a spectacular character. You can't tell me that wasn't joker. That had Joker written all over it, and then some. He provided a deep story to him, and acted very crazy. Great acting. To me, when talking about movies, Heath is the best Joker. Why so serious?

The Joker in the Dark Knight was an incredible villain that deserved an identity of his own. Don't get me wrong, I love the comic book Joker too, but if the writers were going to go out on such a limb with the character, what reason is there to give him the name, besides: "people will go see a movie if it has the Joker in it."

But he's the most interesting variant of the character in an extremely long time.
When every other month you have superboy primes punching the universe and changing the portrayal and history of all the characters contained therein, there is no "real" version of anyone.

To be honest, would've been better if it was like the comic and he shot out the flag which says "Bang, you're dead!" Then when the opponent starts to act relieved the gun shoots again and they have a head full of mini-flag.

Ledgers Joker was somber? What movie were you watching? He was absolutely bonkers. Plus its too easy to say Hamill was a great joker..he only had to do the voice. Much more difficult to actually perform the part. Every Joker is an interpretation of Bob Kanes original idea. Each one emphasises a trait more than the others. They are all great in their own way. Ledgers joker definetly speaks to our more cynical times. Its a recession...so we want the darkness that reflects society as we see it. Next Joker may be more prankster/jokey depending on the socio political situation of the times.

I was going to say that as well. We don't know if Hamill would have done a great job or not because he would have to act it. He only did the voice of his character. The way I see it, every joker that was played, played the character perfectly for the films universe. Nicholson's joker wouldn't work in Nolans films and Ledgers wouldn't work for Burtons. I think they all played the joker great with the story and environment they were in.

The Dark Knights Joker, and the movies overall theme, is based on an 80's batman comic called The Killing Joke. I believe they even gave Heath Ledger The Killing Joke as material for him to draw inspiration from. The visual inspiration for the Joker was taken from Gwynplaine from the film The Man Who Laughs, which is the movie that originally inspired the jokers looks for the comics.

They're not interpretations of Kane's character. His character was just a Riddler knock-off, one of many at the time. They're extrapolations and complete rewrites of what was originally a very shallow character into someone (usually) far more interesting.
@Easo
The Killing Joke was one of many inspirations for the film and the character. TDK drew heavily from DKR and The Long Halloween as well, and I'm sure many others.

Kinda waiting for the philosophical joker, kind of like the one in Arkham Asylum.
You know, the one which is not overtly violent, that clearly has intent and motive, but one that no one can ever understand, yet everyone can associate with?

I love the character roster for this game, and the designs for all the characters is great. They even picked some of the best ever MK characters, if they just add Johnny Cage and Kung Lao, it'll be perfect.
But the gameplay and animation look very stiff and awkward, it doesn't look like it's going to be very fun to play..
