Majesco cooking up recipe for delisting
We hope you can smell what's cooking, Mama. 'Cause it ain't the sizzlin' aroma of seasoned ground beef. Nasdaq today gave notice to Majesco Entertainment, warning the publisher that its single share value had dipped below the minimum required for continued inclusion on the market. In other words, you're better off carrying a pocketful of pennies than owning a share of Majesco stock.
The company is being given 180 days to gets its recipe in order or else the kitchen's closed.

Didn't Majesco do well last quarter? I believe they also developed Super Mario Sluggers, which is sure to be a hit. Why is there stock so low?
Maybe I should get in now while it's super low because it should rise.

Great! Now I'm going to have nightmares where I'm being chased by noseless children with blobs of puddings for hands and frowns for eyes.

I can't really think of a good game that Majesco has published since Psychonauts.
As mediocre as Advent Rising turned out, it was it was still much better than the majority of shovel-ware that Majesco has published since they changed their focus to less creative titles in order to improve their profits.
It really looks like that strategy is working well for them.

I thought Age of Empires for DS was excellent, but I may be in the minority on that one due to its low sales numbers.
aDub @ Aug 29th 2008 4:41AM
@Levi: Good call, I forgot Majesco published Age of Empires for the DS about 2.5 years ago.
It's actually a great example where Majesco published a quality title and it sold 170,000 copies just in North America alone - a modest success.
It's possible that if they had have published more titles like this they be in their current situation right now and would have many loyal customers.

What's a "kithcen"? I love Joystiq, but what the hell is up with all the editorial screw-ups recently?
WRE @ Aug 28th 2008 11:26PM
Ah. All is now right with the world.

You guys make the demise of this company sound like the cutest thing ever.

Cmon Majesco! You're not churning out enough shovelware. You gotta try harder to seperate your shit from the thousands of other shit on the wii and ds shelves.
WRE @ Aug 28th 2008 11:32PM
Seriously. If only they would develop more stuff for the PS3. That's definitely a niche market and it would be really easy to find some shelf space between all of the 360 ports and the 7 or so PS3 exclusives.
DiscoShark @ Aug 28th 2008 11:41PM
They only serve to make the quality games that much sweeter
DiscoShark @ Aug 28th 2008 11:42PM
to Majesco, thank you. Due to your hard work and dedication in further contributing to the already plump DS and Wii shovelware library I can say this with confidence; With a Majesco label on a game, I know that I'm looking at the best of the worst, The Caviar of Crap, The PINNACLE of lazy development cycles, THE MICHAEL PHELPS OF MEDIOCRITY.

But I thought turning into a strictly shovelware company would net profits the likes of which have never been seen before! That's what all the staunch anti-Wii folk around here chant, anyway. Well, here ya go, the first company to go that route, nearly dead.

Delisting from Nasdaq isn't the end of the company.
