What's more upsetting: that rumored God of War director Brett Ratner thinks the Guitar Hero brand is good movie material or that someone actually pays this guy to consult on their brands? In an interview with the movie mangler, MTV managed to get Ratner to say (ostensibly with a straight face), "I would love to do a Guitar Hero movie, if Activision would ever let me. I'm trying to convince them, but why would you have a movie screw up such a huge franchise? Not that I would make a bad movie." Oh no, what could be bad about a movie based on a video game that tasks players with hitting colored dots in time with rock music? Wait, don't answer that. Joystiq spies report that Ratner is also considering adaptations of video game classics Pong and Tetris.
So there's that. Then there's this: Brett Ratner was paid real money to "come up with a name" for the latest Guitar Hero. Ratner says, "I did, and it became Guitar Hero: World Tour." In other words, the geniuses at Activision couldn't figure out a name on their own, so who better than the guy who directed Rush Hour? In other news, we're apparently in the wrong line of work.

Reading this story triggered Metallica's song "Creeping Death" in my mind. Specifically the part that goes "Die by my hand...".

Um... Sooo... Would it be like the Wizard, and about the videogame? Or would it be some laughable (well I guess they'd both be) movie where some kid climbs to the top as a guitar hero?
I would hope it would be about the Guitar Hero videogame. That way, they could take that pile of human garbage whose parents let him drop out of highschool to play Guitar Hero have a stupid cameo that would validate their horrible parenting.
Well maybe the parents would only be human garbarge... Or would they all be? Sigh...

That kid is being privately tutored, and his grades have actually improved since leaving high school.
You would know that if you read the fucking article. He didn't quit to play Guitar Hero, he quit because he genuinely didn't like how school was going for him. The article shouldn't have even mentioned Guitar Hero.

The kid, this is from the SH Forums.
---------------
Well, it looks like I have a lot of explaining to do. I am "the kid dropped out of school to play Guitar Hero for a living."
Everyone here thinks I have dropped out of high school. I am getting home schooled and am possibly going back to school this coming year and the years to come. If I do actually choose to keep being home schooled then i will still try to get into a college.
I wanted to be home schooled because I wasn't getting anything out of going to a real school. I was never able to pay attention during class because of friends distracting me or I would be asleep. I was almost failing compared to me now having all A's and working harder than ever before to keep it that way. I know a lot of you would say I took the easy way out which is how I have been thinking which is why I may go back to school.
If I am going to keep getting home schooled I will be taking classes at Wake Tech that teach you how to make video games.
I have a back up plan people and no I didn't drop out to play Guitar Hero.

Unless they make it into a Full House tie in movie with the main character being Uncle Jessie, and ends in a duel with the devil as Jessie tries to both shred and change Michelle's diaper.
Original actors of course for the sake of nude Olsen twins.

Whew this thing stinks, I see Will Farrell attached or maybe Ben Stiller. It would have to be a comedy for Gods sake but would still be a waste of time. And I thought Foreigners Juke Box Hero was silly but hell it's just a few minutes of silly. This looks to be 1 to 2 hours of silly. I say make it as I think something needs to take the place of Plan 9 From Outer Space as the worst movie ever made. This shit flick could EASILY take that crown.

Yep, I knew it. If there was ever a director who would have thought this would be a good idea, it would have to be Ratner. One of the most mentally incompetent directors available at the moment (add to the list Michael Bay and Uwe Boll, I would love to see a collaboration).

what the hell is a GH movie. This is pretty dumb and there is nothing substantial to make a movie out of. although acoustic with the GH controller sounds nice click clack.

Wow. That is one of the worst ideas I have heard lately. Ratner could just do his own fan films when the stupid GH action figures come out.

I think a GH game would only be remotely successful if it copied the same formula as the Wizard: Autistic kid, picks up the guitar and wails on it, taken to a pro GH championship, wins the championship, saves the day.
Any other alternative would only be pretentious crap because GH isn't like playing REAL MUSIC--and that is the consensus within the general, non-gaming, audience.
