Taking the stage and stepping in this week for the delayed Rush album, Moving Pictures, is American rock 'n' roll band, Locksley. They're certainly not as well known (at the moment) as Rush, but check out the videos after the break before automatically passing judgment on the DLC replacement band.
Locksley Pack 1 (240 / $3)
"She Does" - Locksley (80 / $1)
"Dont Make Me Wait" - Locksley (80 / $1)
"All Over Again" - Locksley (80 / $1)
The songs should be available soon for download on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Locksley is TERRIBLE. These guys opened for HANSON for christsake. Disney-Channel level trash that tries to be modern-day Beatles but fails miserably. Some of the teenybopper girls in your life may be excited, though.
I'm sure everybody who was disappointed by the lack of Rush this week will be perfectly rational, and thoroughly grateful for this new content. I expect many well thought-out and objective posts regarding this interesting turn of events regarding Rock Band DLC.
Obviously this was going to be next week's DLC. So, the alternative would have been to skip DLC altogether this week and double up when MP is ready to be released.
People will bitch either way, but this way they continue to keep up the weekly DLC. Personally, if the charts look fun, I'll have no problem dropping $1 a piece on a few of these.
lol watch the first video. The clothes they're wearing hahaha how lame. Funny how they try to steal from the Beatles as far as fashion and style. Looks like they're 30 years too late.
Seeing as 95% of the comments to this article and on the Rock Band forums are negative towards this band, I'd say pulling something out of my ass worked out.
The only suitable replacement would have been all the good REO Bandwagon songs for a buck. And the complete They Might Be Giants collection. Harmonix really dropped the ball by not replacing Rush with these two bands.
Don't get your panties in a bind. These songs are better than no songs at all (probably just swapped weeks). I'm sure Rush will be here next week (or the week after). These songs are only a buck a piece, so it's not premiere stuff anyways. The first two songs sounded like they could be fun to play. The third one isn't my cup of tea.
I dunno, man... I like 'em. It's like The Hives with more melodic singing and more interesting beats. Clean-scrubbed, and certainly not Rush, but at $1/song, I say---good on Harmonix!
I'm still wondering what the hell kind of 'technical difficulties' could've kicked in on release day, though.
Harmonix, for having to make the substitution (sucky situation to have to be in, having something big like this collapse on them at the last minute),
Locksley, for having to be "the replacement" (they won't get to succeed or fail on their own, they have to overcome the added stigma of being "not Rush"),
or Rush fans, for having the carrot pulled from their grasp at the last second.
Or the rest of us, for having to listen to all the griping...
i could imagine the techinical difficulties could have something to do with having songs with the same title. i know Working Man already has two versions, so maybe this has something to do with making them compatible with Rock Band 2?
either way, it's nice to know that there is at least some awesome Rush on the way. (unless "Moving Pictures" turns into a "Nevermind" or "Who's Next", then thats just screwed up!)
I've never heard of this band before now and from watching they're definitely not bad, but from a Rush fan's perspective I can see how this would be an unpleasant substitution.
I personally do not enjoy Rush's music at all and find Locksley much more appealing.
Now when it comes to a Rockband song I like to have a song that is fairly difficult to play on drums, and based on that I would prefer a Locksley song.
But hey, Rush will come sooner or later. We haven't lost anything because of Locksley; we've only gained a few cheap DLC songs. So suck it up. Locksley didn't cause the Rush delay, Harmonix did.
Oh man, you better duck FAST for implying that this crap has more difficult drum sections than those performed by one of the greatest drummers of all time....
I didn't fairly difficult as in for hard to play. I have friends who come over to play and they can barely play expert. When I say fairly difficult I mean something they can have fun playing.
I consider myself very good at the drums, but since I'm not a lonely friendless man, I'm not about to make my friends have no fun playing Rockband. They like the idea of being able to play a song on expert.
It's up on PSN. Heres a video of Don't make me Wait's drums. User also has guitardrum videos, but his roomate on guitar uses the effects, which makes the song sound pretty bad. inb4"lol it's already bad"
It doesn't matter WHAT Harmonix would've done after Rush was delayed.
If they release nothing, everybody moans because there's no DLC.
If they release something, everybody moans because it's not Rush.
Yes, HMX likely has a large amount of "backup" DLC available for situations such as this when they run into difficulties due to technical or legal reasons.
They needed DLC at short notice, so they put this out there.
And as usual. NOBODY is forcing you to buy it. Ever.
