Taking the stage and stepping in this week for the delayed Rush album, Moving Pictures, is American rock 'n' roll band, Locksley. They're certainly not as well known (at the moment) as Rush, but check out the videos after the break before automatically passing judgment on the DLC replacement band.
Locksley Pack 1 (240 / $3)
"She Does" - Locksley (80 / $1)
"Dont Make Me Wait" - Locksley (80 / $1)
"All Over Again" - Locksley (80 / $1)
The songs should be available soon for download on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Ummm. I like Locksley. I mean I thoroughly enjoy their music. I guess that means I suck. But seriously, I see Rush fans being mad by not getting their fix, but Locksley's songs feel like great fun in my opinion. Granted they're not Rush-level difficulty, but they're still fun.
I am surprised that no-one has pointed out that this was likely going to be next weeks DLC anyway. HMX always releases the big name bands at the end of the month, and the more unknowns at the beginning of the month. Why people are complaining about this and not the "American Mall" song is beyond me. This is a welcome change however. The charts seem fun to play and the songs aren't altogether horrible.
Uh, they opened for Hansen yes, but if you think they're terrible you're not listening. The drummer has a great sense of inventiveness and perfect meter, writing accessible parts that still surprise, yet draw in the listener, the two singers sound great together hitting hard notes and harmonizing well. Also their guitar tone has an aggressive in your face sound and a F-you level of Volume.... that being said the bass leaves something to be desired though, perhaps a professional painting of the word scream on the back of his bass as opposed to the cheaply done spray painting with cardboard look, is he actually playing a squire bass? But to end on a positive note....Listen to the intro of "All over Again," that says it all, they have what it takes they just need to tap into that creativity and write that hit song. They are trying to make respectable pop music while using the blueprint of the beatles and the strokes. The beatles are great but a little dated. 5% of the time, Locksley's choruses and such sound a little too retro almost like off the soundtrack of "that thing you do." P.S. Rush rules and Locksley is fucking brilliant.
