Rumor: 360's GTA IV DLC to hit in Jan/Feb '09

For those keeping record, the GTA DLC was originally supposed to hit in Q4 2008 (so, before this November), but was delayed due to some corporate numbers mumbo jumbo that we couldn't care less about ... except that it resulted in having to wait longer for more frolicking fun in Liberty City.

I wonder if that NEW PS3 exclusive game from Rockstar also will be any good - some fans started hype'ing it already - and it might be a PSN 5$ title ;)

What hype? All theyve said was that they were delaying it for financial reasons. It could end up being just a new pair of jeans.
Either way its starting to look like Microsoft should have put a deadline in their contract. By the time this comes out a lot of people arent going to want to play it and with a significant chunk of copies ending up on the used shelf in Gamestop.

Quite a lot of people do still. I think it was #3 on xbox live activity last week. Man I hate the stupid internet attitude of if its not new, its no longer good.

Unfortunately, I already traded in my copy of the game. If this had come out sooner it would have been a must-buy for me.

I was thinking more along the lines of the fact that the online sucks and I would have figured most people would have figured it out and moved on by now.
No reason a good online experience should fade quickly, but this one isn't a good online experience.

I heard it was going to be around 15 hours worth of extra gameplay so its cool. Pretty sure they're gonna use the extra 250gp they are allowed from MS as well.

It was very disappointing. It needed to be more like san andreas in that they should have given us crazy off the wall shit to do. I liked stealing harrier jets, using a jetpack to fly out of area 51, and skydiving into a base gunning people down.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm looking forward to saints row 2 now because they're giving us so many bat-shit insane stuff to do. Sorry, but I don't need to watch TV or go to a bowling alley in a videogame.

OMG YES! The DLC is going to make the PS3 look so bad, it's going to shut the PS3 down everyone will buy GTAIV for the 360 now. There is no point in owning a PS3 at all, haha. This DLC is supposed to make the game 400x better including 25+ cars and 10+ weapons and more clothing. Even adding a new portion of NYC by adding more parts of New Jersey, supposed to make the map like 25% larger.

I was joking :| I find it kind of funny how some people really throw the DLC at me and say it will change what console people will get games for. I honestly bought GTA for the PS3 only because it felt better on a PS controller for me, I don't know why. I like hitting triangle to steal cars, not Y :

Yet another DLC package to come out once a game has become irrelevant. So is this ape-like mentality going to govern what is commonplace from now on; releasing DLC 8 months after the game opens and hope people still care about it.

For those of us with lives outside our basements, games do not become irrelevant 8 months after they are released.
And for those of us who have nothing better to do than play games, hell, it's not like there's a shortage. DLC 8 months down the road should offer something new to a game that has grown stale while you were busy playing other games.

I also found it pretty disappointing that the Mass Effect DLC took so long to hit the streets.
It makes more sense to me, and I'd enjoy it more if DLC came closer to release on these games.

That general attitude may exist on gamer geek filled blogs like this... but keep in mind that the readership of a site like this is NOT representative of gamers at large; we're all a little too hardcore around here.
I know a lot of people who are still playing this game and loving it; dozens of my coworkers are still all about it, and a number of my truly hardcore GTA-fanboy friends (one of whom made the switch to 360 because of the DLC) are still playing it also. I moved on long ago myself... but will be back for the DLC.

i personally didn't think gta4 was all that great... it was based too much on the story line, i mean it did look good but i found the driving more sluggish and i just didn't find it as fun to mess about with (although the drink driving was a brilliant addition, whoever thought that up should get a blue peter badge!), not that bothered bout the DLC... still undecided whether i'll bother to get the PS3 DLC when it comes out either... P.S the online play was rather pants... it was like playing the crappy split screen mode for san andreas...just...online ^_^

you're dead right, i bought it on release day. played it for, ooh, 2 days. then that was it. still sitting there, gathering dust.
a last-gen game on a current-gen console.
rockstar need to up the ante, this shit just don't wash anymore.
