I think MotionPlus is going to be a great tool for Lucasarts to make the kind of game we all want. I envision a title that lets us take part in the best battles from the movies. Attacking Jabba's barge? Fighting Vader and losing your hand? A tutorial level where you have to fend off a drone aboard the Millenium Falcon? These are wonderful scenarios for a game that would no doubt be a great success, both critically and commercially. But, for a combo-based fighter such as Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels, I think the current scheme will work well.
Having played Wii Sports: Resort myself, for a great deal of time at E3, I know that the formula there is one that works and needs to be watched closely by any developer who wants to have a 1:1 fighting game. With MotionPlus, you need a first-person perspective to utilize the tech properly, for both function's sake and that of immersion. It just seem like the most appropriate choice to me.
So Lucasarts, pay attention. Give us a great first-person game that utilizes MotionPlus. It can be an exact clone of Wii Sports: Resort's Swordplay minigame for all I care. It just needs that perspective and you've got yourself a million-seller, easy. And all of us have an experience that we're clamoring for and a new way to enjoy something that is near and dear to fans' hearts.
