The get-kids-voting people behind Rock the Vote recently spread out beyond the limitations of MTV's core demographic and decided to enlist the Xbox Live community, long known to be an e-bastion of enlightened political discourse. So, being the politically (and mathematically!) astute bloggers we are, we took a look at the live poll results, as presented by MyGamerCard.net.
As of press time, Democratic-nom Barack Obama had a commanding lead over Republican oppollnent John McCain, with 4,623 gamerpics in circulation versus just 2,076 – a nearly insurmountable lead of 2,547 gamerpics. That's fine, but what's the real story here? How the pundits and the pollsters – clouded by the corruption and cynicism of a two-party election system – have ignored the dark horse in this election: Gears of War skull face guy, who right now controls a most impressive 87,626 of The People's votes. Ignore the political machine and vote your conscience!

the BIG difference is the inexperienced republican is running for vice president, whereas the inexperienced democrat is running for president of the united states.

What resume? She has less of one than Obama does. At least he was in the senate for a little while doing something. She's sitting all the way up in alaska whoring out all the oil in her state.
Some of the stuff I've heard from other republicans trying to find good stuff to say about her.
"She has great foreign policy experience. She's up in alaska which is right next to Russia." (I kid you not someone on Faux News literally said that)
Lindsay Graham said "She helped fight corruption in Alaska". SHE'S UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR ABUSE OF POWER FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!!!
This move was total bust because she's not hillary. All of her positions are completely different than what hillary supporters believe in, and she has even less foreign policy experience than Obama, and he can't even get them on board yet because of that....so what makes you think she will? Cause she has a vag??

Why is it that liberals can't just accept fact? First it was "the surge won't work!" and then it worked, and you can't deal with it. So it's anything to try to define success as failure, or to change the subject to Afghanistan.
Which is hilarious because don't you guys love the Afghan war? It has that hippie UN seal of approval on it, and even though it's a catastrophic failure (like every single action the UN has ever undertaken) liberals have been unwilling to admit that.
Iraq was undertaken by the US, virtually alone, and it's a greater success than your precious UN mission. That's something to think about.

Yeah the surge worked. Nevermind the fact that there is a fucking cease fire in place by that Al'Sadr guy who controls most of the terrorists in that region. That's something you dirty republicans convienently leave out.
Even with the cease fire, american troops still die almost every other day in Iraq. Explain that with your Bush logic.
Afghanistan was working until we shifted our people and focus on Iraq. Now both are going to hell instead of just 1.

Er, what? Socialism is a desire for bigger government, liberalism is a desire for more social freedom. You're getting your scapegoats wrong.

Both candidates aren't really someone I would vote for, but I like McCain more than I do Obama. Also, someone mentioned earlier about our national debt being so bad. If you just look at that number it does look bad, but when you compare it to our gross domestic product it really isn't that bad at all. In the past the ratio was much worse. Plus a good percent of economist believe national debt is good. The reason behind that is the government borrows money and uses it to create a better life for us by using the money for research and other projects.

I don't believe debt in the form of selling my country off to what will, at this pace, eventually become the most powerful nation in the world with the most people and who is also a communist country who will also eventually look to expand it's borders a good thing.

Can any of you who are talking up Obama and his platform of change tell us ONE thing he has promised to actually change? All I ever hear him say is how the government is going to take care of us. Is that something we really want? I, For one, do NOT want the government taking care of me. We see how well all the things the government does "take care" of work out.
McCain has to be the guy. I like Palin as well. Seems like McCain actually is the candidate of change after all. Obama picked Biden, 35 years of the same old same old in the senate. That's what I call change you CAN'T belive in.
Go John McCain!!!

If you stop being ignorant and using faux news arguments, and watched obama's acceptance speech you would have heard what he's going to do. He went in EXPLICIT detail what he was going to do.
Sorry but that "vague" excuse republicans toss around is no longer viable.

Agreed, most of the supporters of Obama if you ask them his records, what he will actually do if he is president, they will have a blank look on their face.
A lot of them are voting for him without truly looking at the substance, their just drawn into the hype, the craze, the charisma, the fact that he will be the first non-white president which simply kicks ass.

@ J -
He did it when he was still a Republican. He's now very vocal about his opposition to the Patriot Act.
Either way, he's still better than Obama or McCain, in my book. If the American people truly want "Change", they'd quit voting the same two parties in office, every 4 years.

The thing is, smart, rational people realize we don't need "change". This country is fine. We don't need fundamental revision of our systems or identity. We just need to fix the problems we have.
That's the biggest problem with liberalism: it's so hysterical all the time. We have to fix this now! This needs radical change now! Really, no, it doesn't. The system works. Even the beloved hippie icon the Prius came about because a business - Toyota - decided to invest R&D money thinking it would lead to large ROI. And it worked. Social revolution doesn't fix, it just destroys.

For starters, he plans to make the same healthcare, that is available to Senators, available to all citizens who need it. He has a specific plan to invest in new energies to decrease our dependency on foreign oil.
As far as letting Government take care of us... all "Government" means is the collection of things that we choose to do together. All of these right wing talking points about him being the "messiah" and what not, are just that. He has made a point on a number of occassions that this isn't about him. It is about, and up to us. He just happens to be really good at inspiring people to act. He has also stated, specifically, that he will do a line-by-line veto of Government agencies and spending to make it run more efficiently.

obama's proposed healthcare is something americans shouldn't want. this "universal" healthcare he has been talking about closely resembles the same institution that is in place in canada.
a universal healthcare system gives the same benefits to everyone, which sounds nice in theory, but creates ridiculous wait times as well as a decline in a physicians desire to be "the best" when they get payed the same no matter what.
not only that, you end up basically having the rich and middle class paying (through higher taxes no less) for the lower class' healthcare as well as their own.

Why is it that the Canadian health care system is used as a dirty word here in the states? I'm from the states, and I have absolutely no idea how effective the health care system is for Canadians. I've read some praise from Canadians, and I've read condemnation, but not much of either.
How about it? Any Canadian citizens want to comment about their health care system? Any British citizens? I am honestly very interested.

MacGyver, you need to watch 'Sicko', its a really good movie, and it denotes the points you just made buy showing that Canadians rarely have the problem of waiting for anything. In fact, US citizens attempt to slip through the borders over to canada to get thier health care.
To further pick at that point, everyone else has successfully moved over to the universal scheme, the UK is on it, the French are on it, and never once have we had to wait for anything, yeah, the NHS can be a pain in the ass at times, but at least we can walk in and get the treatment we need when its needed.
See the positive is that in America you pay for your own healthcare meaning that smokers, obese etc who get themselves into situations won't wear your wallet down, however, that means that should you find yourself in a financial situation of shich you cannot afford the healthcare necessary to sort it, you're stuffed.
That is a myth in this country and has been for years, we don't turn people away from hospital so life insurance companies can sit in our cash and turn us down when they feel like it, THIS is democracy, the people tell the companies and government what to do, not the other way round. And if we are not bloody happy, we protest and usually get our way, because that is the way it should be. France are (as far as I currently know) leading in healthcare and thiers is similar to us, just better quality.
While you sit there and say that, every trip I pay to America makes me glad I'm a UK citizen when it comes to healthcare, because if anything happened to me out there on holiday, I'd be in the shit and have to cough up a ridiculous amount of cash to get surgery or anything. Being a UK citizen means I can walk into most if not all of your hospitals and get the same care as anyone there without paying, other cases may have me return to UK or sent to Canada, but thats better then not getting any healthcare at all.
Even Cuba has great healthcare standards.
Watching Sicko was really saddening, heartbreaking to say the least, and opens my eyes to the kind of heartless people we still have on Earth, but then its no suprise, money has always come first ey?

Let's be fair, now, I am in support of neither Obama nor McCain (I'm a libertarian, but that's neither here nor there). As such, my voting voice is not reflected by that poll. Similarly, I think that wearing a gamerpic (or bumper sticker, or joining a Facebook group, etc.) is a stupid way to brag about your personal beliefs, and as such, had I been in support of Obama or McCain, I would not have dl'ed a picture. I'm certain that there are tons of people out there like me on both sides that feel it's immature to wear your beliefs around for the world to see, and also a bunch who were left out altogether with the gamerpics only offering the two main parties to pick from.
Besides, this isn't what XBL is about. Let's get back to Castle Crashers

I hardly think telling parent's to "put away the videogames" means he hates videogames....
As another user already said, you can't get a decent education if you are constantly playing games, so it's a valid point. If you notice he also said "turn off the TV" - he's not targetting games, rather talking generally about things that distract from other, sometimes more important ways to spend your time.
I'm not even American, but I like the guy. If American votes McCain in we all might as well give up on the country.
