PSP Fanboy's five ways to make PSP better

Suggestion No. 1: Give 'em away! Just kidding – our fine friends at PSP Fanboy, undeterred by yesterday's less-than-glowing appraisal of their favorite system's future, have outlined five (clever) ways that Sony could improve the system. And we're not just talking gimmicky peripherals that will never see the light of day in the US.
So check out their ideas, drop them some of your own in comments, and tell 'em Joystiq sent you. (If they say "Never heard of 'em," it's probably because we still have their UMD copy of MVP: Most Valuable Primate.)

I know one way to make it better.
Have more than 5 game worth buying.
Extinction @ Aug 30th 2008 12:05AM
Your trolling sucks, PSP has more than a hundred games worth buying. It's DS that needs to finally get more than 5.
And all these reasons seemed like repeating the same thing

You both suck as trolls, and need to look harder if you can't find more than five games worth owning on each system. I have over 50 DS games and over 10 PSP games, and there's still more on each system I want to get.

Let's see, it's friday night, I'm feeling pretty good, go some money and I'm feeling sexy.
Let's troll on joystiq.
PSP sucks.
Einhanderkiller @ Aug 29th 2008 11:39PM
SD card support.

They need to stop remaking the models.
I know a few people that are just a tad upset after buying a Slim not to long ago.
The Friends idea is a Must, should have had it years ago.

Remove the UMD drive, add a USB host-mode port, and let us play isos off of usb drives.
Justin @ Aug 29th 2008 11:57PM
How about a list where the first 4 things AREN'T THE EXACT SAME THING!
Ninjakamster (PS360 FTW!) @ Aug 30th 2008 2:07AM
Support for SD cards in addition to memory sticks, a combo slot.
Save the second analog stick for the PSP2, so please everyone shut up about that.
More games on the Playstation Store, PS1 and PSP games alike.
A better internet browser, sure I can use my PC but when in a pinch, its nice to have it on my PSP, which is my only mobile browser.
HighFiveJesus @ Aug 30th 2008 2:44AM
that was pretty pathetic.
Vazquez @ Aug 30th 2008 4:21AM
I guess that why I have 22 game for my DS.
And only 5! for my PSP.
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Aug 30th 2008 4:25AM
If I didn't already have a PSP, that isn't a list that would convince me to drop everything and go out and buy one.
(granted, nothing would but games, and PSP has plenty of good games)
SD card support is a pretty good idea, as mentioned above. SD cards are MUCH cheaper for the same amount of storage (lowest prices on Newegg: 2GB SD = $4.95, 2GB MSPD = $21.45).
Granted, you CAN buy a microSD-to-MSPD adapter, thus being able to use microSD(HC, for some adapters) on PSP... but it seems kinda annoying, I guess.
(Plus, I wish I knew about that BEFORE purchasing an 8GB MSPD for $80 months ago...)
Improved browser would be great, too. At least the ability to watch flash video sites (YouTube, DailyMotion, Veoh, etc.).
Really, I can't think much of what's /wrong/ with PSP as it is... other than the blurry screen, which this new model seems to fix (and if gets hacked, I'll definitely be purchasing one).
justpassingby @ Aug 30th 2008 6:14AM
A second thumbstick... seriously
John @ Aug 30th 2008 6:45AM
I'd like it to support more video formats than MP4.
Plus, I'm afraid to try to hack mine, so support for direct rips of PS1 games would be totally sweet.

redesign the PSP (PSP-4000):
- it should have a clamshell design
- ram should be increased to 96MB for even faster load times via UMD cacheing
- top part of clamshell should have the screen only, everything else should be on the bottom part (so that its not uncomfortably top heavy)
- make it very sexy and introduce new colors not used before in PSPs-1000 to 3000, along with the standard black/silver/white
-continue selling the PSP-3000 along side with the clamshell PSP atleast initially to play it safe and see how the market responds
- improve the dpad (think Sega Genesis/Saturn dpads) and change the shoulder buttons to DS Lite-like ones
- replace analog nub with a proper single "mini analog stick" that is half positioned/indented inside the system so that the clamshell design is possible. The analog stick should be located in the lower middle area of the system, making a dpad/analog stick/face buttons triangle kinda like the N64 controller. that way gamers can use the dpad for movement with the left hand and the analog stick for the camera angle with the right hand for FPS games.
- make all FPS game developers include the option of controlling the movement/camera with the dpad/analog stick in future FPS games. also, if possible, make them release a downloadable patch for their existing FPS games to allow this new control scheme.

Curmeo let me add something to your great list of suggestions:
Much stronger game line up. We're talking tons of PSP exclusive games here...orignal games that really make use of the hardware. It's why Nintendo's DS is king of handhelds. Sony has to do all this becuase I plan on getting a PSP myself very soon. Right now it's just the current version of the Game Gear.
Extinction @ Aug 30th 2008 5:07PM
DS is king cause of cost alone. According to review sites like metacritic/gamerankins/etc, PSP has the better library. Calling it a GameGear is the sure sign you're retarded.
- it should have a clamshell design
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- improve the dpad (think Sega Genesis/Saturn dpads) and change the shoulder buttons to DS Lite-like ones
No, for starters the DS lite shoulder buttons suck. PSPs are the second best ever, right behind Gamecube. The Sega Dpads suck
- replace analog nub with a proper single "mini analog stick"
No. The tapwave zodiac used it. They suck horribly
