It seems Dead Fantasy might just becomes a living reality after all. Square Enix has announced its intention to purchase a majority stake in Tecmo, the Japanese company which recently bid farewell to both its president and most recognizable rockstar developer. As detailed in a press release issued this morning (via IGN), the house that built Final Fantasy (and vice versa) is offering Tecmo shareholders a 30% premium over the company's closing price on August 28th. If successful, the deal would see Tecmo fall under Square Enix Holdings, while retaining its brand and corporate structure.
Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix, expressed hope that both developers would benefit from the deal, with the RPG maker gaining some inspiration from Tecmo's expertise in the action genre. Presumably, the folks at Tecmo would gain some pointers on in-game cameras in return.
We'll let you know what happens as soon as the suits are done talking.

Tom Brady casts Passaga on Randy Moss, damages San Diego for 23 yards can causes status ailment First Down.
I don't know, I think that would be seriously awesome to play.

Ehrgeiz wasn't that bad, was it? (then again, it wasn't directly from Square...)

Lol, you'll spend more time in the next FF7 staring at Tifa's boobs then actaully carrying out the adventure at hand. Then when it switches over to cloud, people will cry.

See Tecmo, this is what happens when you mess with the man-god Itagaki. Your company FAILS.
Hopefully Square will make quality games out of Tecmos franchise's.
Personally I only care about Ninja Gaiden and will happily pay anything Sqaure wants for Ninja Gaiden 1-3 remakes (when they no doubt decide to whore it out) and a NG RPG.
I suspect the next NG game will star a Ryu that looks like this:

Only 70% more feminine looking and 3000% more emo.

How appropriate, a game company that lost all their top talent and has been issuing nothing but rehashes of old games buying a game company that has lost all their top talent and has a large catalogue of old games to reissue.

If this happens, Dead or Alive would be the 1st good fighting game under their umbrella and I could see square-enix characters being included! Golbez VS Actraiser God, Sephiroth VS Ryu and more importantly Helena VS Tifa!
NES Ninja Gaiden remakes will show up on the DS and something cool that may come of it is a Ninja Gaiden RPG!
Its an interesting combination because Tecmo isn't really an RPG company so it makes Square-Enix a bit more diverse by adding fighing and action games.
Ok so who's buying Treasure so we can get the next greatest shooter on the PS3/360/Wii; I'm actually surprised S-E hasn't eaten up the Working Designs IPs!

I'll bet they'll try and break out Secret of the Stars (Aquatallion) again, before Deception or a Ninja Gaiden RPG.

Here's hoping for a Wii golf game with proper controls and decent online play.
Because Camelot could've done better than Mario Golf Toadstool Tour with Wiimote-swing controls and crappy original characters. :|
