Tilt-controlled Tony Hawk's Motion revealed for DS
According to Activision, players will be able to "twist, tilt and turn through various skateboarding sessions." iPhone much? Also, as a first in the series, the game will introduce snowboarding – wait, what? Yes, "Tony Hawk," a name synonymous with ... snowboarding. Tony Hawk's Motion will come bundled with Hue Pixel Painter, an action-puzzle game that has players tilting the DS to "return color to a dull world." Both games are being handled by Creat (makers of the [ahem] superb Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am) and will hit in November. Check out the first screens below.
Update: Activision has confirmed with us that the Motion Pack is a proprietary add-on developed for it by Kionix, Inc. and fits into the DS' GBA slot.

Ew
Are you sure it isn't coming to the N-gage instead of the DS?
Maverick Saturn @ Aug 29th 2008 2:15PM
*Squints*
Nope, nothing :(
*Puts on 3D glasses*
Still nothing.
Jacksons @ Aug 29th 2008 2:19PM
DS screen shots should never be blown up that big. Like, ever.
Nigeria @ Aug 29th 2008 2:19PM
Will this be similar to WarioWare Twisted? aka the best GBA game that isn't a SNES/NES port. If so, that could be cool. Though, the Tony Hawk name does automatically weaken any interest I have.
Also, rarely do DS screenshots rarely give show off a game in a positive light, but, even I have to admit that looks a little...

Is it somehow possible to have a DS Game with good smooth 3D graphics that isn't made by Ninty?
Lijik @ Aug 29th 2008 5:54PM
Crash of the Titans by Amaze Entertainment had really good graphics though that seems to be a fluke since no other game by them has ever reached that level since.
Wiinterfang @ Aug 29th 2008 10:19PM
Sega superstar tennis, new Dragon ball game and some more.

I like how the DS homebrew community has been working on and with a motion sensor for about a year now

It took me about two minutes to catch that pun.
I feel like a total retard.

That aqua teen game has the best name ever. Never played it but Im guessing it sucks.
GoldenS1104 @ Aug 29th 2008 2:45PM
The name is awesome, but according to gamerankings, the game is not. It got an average of 41/100. :-/
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Aug 29th 2008 2:33PM

WOO! GO NEVERSOFT! KEEP MILKING THAT BRAND!
I'm reminded of a Penny Arcade comic...http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2002/12/13/
Just substitute Tony Hawk for Tribes, and BAM! Instant truth.
Von Dozier @ Aug 29th 2008 3:17PM
Exciting.
conebone69 @ Aug 29th 2008 3:19PM
Tony Hawk's actually been done quite well on handhelds contrary to what y'all may believe. What worries me about this game though is that it isn't being developed by the same team that did the previous handheld games.
Joe H @ Aug 29th 2008 4:06PM
Great, another barely used peripheral for the DS. So now you need to carry around all of these games and 3 or 4 different peripherals?
Hafk @ Aug 30th 2008 12:02AM
Wow, at most, this motion pack will be the size of a GBA cart, if not smaller for the DS Lite ( Phat Adapter included, much like GH:OT)
If you have problems carrying around another GBA sized game, then buy a pair of pants that have pockets. It's not hard. You are bitching for no reason.
zombiejesus @ Aug 29th 2008 4:58PM
Since when does Tony Hawk snowboard?
That Fuzzy Bastard @ Aug 29th 2008 7:06PM
Yeah, TH American Wasteland for DS was actually pretty awesome. Have misgivings about the peripheral, but if other designers get on the bandwagon, that'd be great---as the commenter above says, WarioWare Twisted is one of the best games ever, so... so I approve!
Red_Maniac @ Aug 29th 2008 10:07PM
"return color to a dull world."
de Blob?
Superstar90 @ Aug 29th 2008 10:56PM
"twist, tilt and turn through various skateboarding sessions." iPhone much?
no, more like best warioware twisted aka best gba game ever. the iphone didn't invent tilt controls.
thegamingguy @ Aug 30th 2008 1:07PM
Well I guess we have learned what the next version of the DS will contain Tilt control. how innovative nintendo... stealing from an apple idea.
deyanimay @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:14PM
now if only the psp motion sensor would become official hardware not homebrew only.
