So you've probably already voted for your favorite Resistance 2 Collector's Edition boxart (if not, you've probably missed the boat), but until now we've had no idea what the CE will actually contain. Enter, Amazon.com, stage left. If these details are to be believed (and they're a little too specific to be doubted, at this point) then the Resistance 2 special edition will be well worth the price for any fan of the franchise.
The price, which is probably the most likely detail of the bunch to be changed down the line, is set at $79.99. For this, you'll get a bonus DVD with a behind the scenes documentary, video commentary by Insomniac and a "Twisted History" chronology video. You'll also nab yourself an exclusive multiplayer character skin, a double-sided Resistance art book and a sneak peek at the upcoming Resistance novel, "The Gathering Storm." Wait, there's an upcoming Resistance novel?
Finally, the package is rounded out with a five and a half inch tall Chimera Hybrid action figure. With a Bullseye, naturally. That's quite a lot of swag, but is it worth the extra 30 dollars? Sorry, we couldn't hear your response to that question, we're too busy preording the Resistance 2 Collector's Edition.

"is it worth the extra 30 dollars"
I guess you meant 'the extra 20 dollars", that's the price difference between the regular and the special edition.

Extra $30? won't the standard edition be $60?

What do you mean "is it worth the extra 30 dollars?". The regular edition would be priced at $59.99. So if the CE is $79.99, then that's $20 more. Anyways, I don't think I'll buy it for $79.99, but if it drops to $69.99, or even $75, it'll be incredibly hard to resist.

wow thats a sweet deal! Better than GTA IV special Edition IMO.
A Resistance Novel, hey? Why can i foresee Resistance being Playstation's Halo?
Or has Metal Gear filled that spot?
Still, defo pre-order for me

As great as that is and all, why do PS3 exclusive games still come with bonus DVDs and not Blu-Ray? I'd much prefer to see all that extra content in HD, but I digress, and hope a European announcement will follow soon. Once there's a U.S. announcement, of course!

The Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots collector's edition comes with a bonus Blu-ray Disc, not a DVD. But Devil May Cry 4's did just have a DVD. I guess we need to just give them time. It's obviously not an issue of wondering if the consumer can play BDs, it's more about how DVDs are much cheaper to produce than BDs, I bet.

OH YES! I will be buying the CE. I bought Resistance on launch day with my original PS3 and it's still one of my favorite games to play.

Yes, I too also enjoy the game Resistance as a game to play for fun very much.

I hope they include the Project Abraham stuff on one of the disks. A little back story goes a long way. ;)
I'll probably be picking up the collector's edition anyway, though. I'm really excited about this game.

A Resistance novel is the lamest thing I've ever heard, I'd expect crap like that from Halo's marketing campaigns.

Yeah, because books and words are lame. I'd rather just play online multiplayer and mindlessly shoot people, because stories are bullshit, right?

Aw man, when I saw the image of this news post, I was hoping I'd see it on the Amazon page too. I was hoping it was the new confirmed cover. Please, Insomniac! That really is the best of the three.

So you lucky guys in America get a special edition 'Resistance 2' with all those extras for the same price us poor folk in the UK have to pay for the plain old normal version?
And your still wondering wether it's worth it?

The behind the scenes stuff needs to be on a Blu-ray Disc like the MGS4 LE was.

this could be a special edition i go for if i can get the cash. as far as the novel, the sneak peek should let you know if it's something you'd want to read more of. i heard some good things about the halo series and have read some good game novelizations back in the 8 and 16 bit days.

Awesome! Really hope either the picture shown wins or the close-up of Hale's face. Getting this for sure.

80 bucks for all of this... guess I need to get the US version... as usual, the standard edition is more expensive in Europe than the CE in the states...

I will buy the CE! First off, the extra "goodies" included have to be worth more than 20 dollars! Plus the novel contains background info. and a fill-in between Res1 and Res2. To KarlW: Regardless whether you think the novel is "garbage" or not, kids would be far better off reading than watching mindless TV. Plus I bet it is a great read, the storyline is strong and intresting and I don't know about you but Res1 was pretty scary (the whole idea, and some gameplay). Another thing to consider is that kids are not the only ones who play video games... e.g im 15 and I would enjoy the novel!
