New Fallout 3 Achievements will set your pants on fire
Is your craving for Fallout 3 currently and properly satiated? If so, hold onto this link for a fix later, but otherwise check out Xbox360Achievement's listing of the game's, well, Achievements. Aside from the usual (30 quest-based, 9 level and karma-based), our favorite new achievement is going to be Psychotic Prankster, which essentially involves adding to your "Exploding Pants" statistic by "placing a grenade or mine while pickpocketing." Of course, the highlights of these little Gamerscore supplements are the associated Vault Boy icons, which would make a great collage for our desktop background.

Oh man, That Pyschotic Prankster is gonna be FUN to get. Hell, I may just do that everytime I pickpocket someone now that the idea's in my head.
zombienutz @ Sep 1st 2008 11:52PM
Must have soon. The achievements are making my decision between PC and Xbox 360 harder...although they really should not.
Tiptup300 @ Sep 1st 2008 11:55PM
It's a games for Windows Live game.
zuburi @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:00AM
It's PC version for me - unless it's got Spore-like SecuROM.
Tiptup300 @ Sep 1st 2008 11:54PM
But, I like my pants. o_o
Roofie @ Sep 1st 2008 11:57PM
Time for the down vote.
Bass Masterson @ Sep 1st 2008 11:58PM
Is it possible to turn off achievements? Serious question, because I hate them (same with trophies, but I've yet to see one). Every time one pops up it just pulls me right out of the game.
neko to kuruma @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:38AM
While you can't turn the Achievements themselves off (they're going to add to your gamerscore either way, you can turn off the notification.
Thatoneguy64 @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:02AM
This is a great example of how not to do achievements
Ihavepants @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:18AM
Why's he voted down for this? Most of those achievements are simply "Finish this side/main quest that you were going to do anyway, therefore negating the meaning of the word ACHIEVEMENT" Achievements.
I'm not into Achievements in the first place but those are some of the most unimiganitive I've seen, especially for a "AAA" game.
Mr.ESC @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:29AM
To be honest the best examples of achievements are in Dead Rising and The orange box since they ask you to do stuff in different ways.
I would say these achievements are similar to the one sin Oblivion.
Now that I rather have these sort of achievements than the ones that ask you to do stufff like collect flag or kill Over 9000 players online and yes I'm looking at you Clefairy B.
Mr.ESC @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:31AM
*ones in Oblivion.
Also the ones in Fable 2 are awesome.
Duke @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:51AM
If you finished a storyline or mission, isn't that an achievement? Maybe not earth shattering, but its still the act of achieving something.
WilhelmThe1st @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:23PM
Agreed. Dead Rising's achievements are the best in any X360 game to date.
Though I don't mind ones like Oblivions, and now these apparent Fallout 3 achievements.
LordChimp @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:11AM
Everytime people do this, I laugh. I don't know why and I know doing the "first" thing is stupid but I laugh everytime. I fail :(
caserb @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:16AM
I can give or take the achievements, but otherwise I seriously cannot wait for this game.
rooshma @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:31AM
Mad... Ross knows why.
Ross Miller @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:41AM
I do?
Ayrkain @ Sep 2nd 2008 7:46AM
Who do?
You do.
Do what?
Remind me of the babe.
rooshma @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:37AM
Well probably not, but I sent this in probably seconds after this 'Dan' fellow.

Only had time/patience to make a res for my odd 1440 monitor, if the 'stiq wants them for their own resolutions email me I guess.
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:07AM
Man bethesda needs help making achievements. They make some of the most wide open games out there and yet come up with the most boring mundane achievements. Take a clue from Fable 2 (assuming those really were the achievements) and be creative >.
todd @ Sep 2nd 2008 7:27AM
Agreed.
Rentaro @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:29AM
Meh. The only reason why I'm getting it for the PC is the modding capabilities. I found vanilla Oblivion to be average but the mods kept me playing to this day. Course, provided that Bethesda will release the editor for Fallout >_>
Eggy @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:48AM
"placing a grenade or mine while pickpocketing"
Like placing a poisonous apple on someone during pick pocketing. Yeah it's been done before by Bethesda.
todd @ Sep 2nd 2008 7:25AM
I was hoping for a kill 20 people by blowing their heads off or nuke 40 people... they are kinda boring really.
Kiyote @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:01AM
You can actually see someone getting the psychotic prankster achievement in the new gameplay videos. It's early in video #5 - Tenpenny Tower.

I just hope bad karma isn't like evil in kotor (great game btw). O yes, I am one of the greatest jedi/sith lords ever, I know how to calculate ever move and knew all sorts of tricks and deceptions. So I'm going to kill a random child in broad day light, where everyone can see me, because I am evil, and that in no way will expose my cover, or draw attention to me.
Why is evil, and being stupid always associated with each other. I know your evil, but the moment you do that, you would think there would be several guards on you, and after you eventually killed those, there would now be hundreds of guards on you.
Did oblivion have an actual good and evil scale, or did they just always have both "options" but acting one way on one mission didn't really effect what you did in another?
Boffo the Sock @ Sep 2nd 2008 9:51AM
I just hope it isn't like KotoR in the sense that you play through the whole game busting your ass to be full light/dark, and then at the very end of the game you can make one choice that will instantly negate all your hard work. It just cheapens the experience for me.
jimmygotsmack @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:13AM
Maybe some people just want to see what the actual ending is. Rather then play 80 hours all over again.
Even so, I agree, when you get to see the light and dark endings, doesn't mean you actually played through the story like that. That takes away the entire point of playing the light or dark side. I am more worried about the decisions you can make for the dark side, even though they where evil, they where evil stupid.
Duke @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:53AM
In oblivion people would not talk to you or help you when you were obviously evil (or a Vampire). Also, the guards would hunt you down. So it had an effect.
Mike @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:21AM
Man, I cannot wait to get this game. 100 locations! I don't think I'll need to buy any other games after this. No time.
