Funky Spore ads spotted in the wild
The viral spiral marketing campaign for Spore has gone into full swing with only five short days until Will Wright's latest creation ... er, creation hits shelves. Billboards, bush shelter ads, and complete be-stickering of public places (Harvard Square shown above) are being spotted, and our buddies at Big Download are keeping track of them all in one big, weird gallery.
Many of the designs and slogans used in the ads have actually been lining the walls (and, actually, pretty much every surface) of EA Maxis' Emeryville, CA office during the game's epic development process. Now the entire world, nay, universe will get to see what we've been treated to during our various visits to Wright's home away from home.

The only marketing for Spore should be Will Wright explaining the Care Bears lore in depth. Probably the most hilarious thing I've ever seen or heard him do.

Do you need photos of Spore launches from all over the world? I'll be attending the one at Singapore..

Wow. This has singlehandedly convinced me to shell out for the Galactic Edition. I want that artbook.

I go to Harvard Square every day to get to work and these ads started to make their way into the station about Monday last week. They were adding more and more every day last week until they have what you see in those pictures.
Very cool I must say, they have ads every where, in places I've never seen ads before. Glad to see games taking over Cambridge, MA :)

I saw one at a bus stop in vancouver today that had a blue background and said something like "We find your mating habits curious".
Kevlar @ Sep 3rd 2008 4:38AM
I've seen three in vancouver..
One is out front of the downtown VCC campus, and says something to the effect of "Take me to your City Hall" with an evil-looking spore-thing on a red background.
Thats the only one I've seen regularly enough to remember exactly where it is. There were two others, one on blue, and the other on yellow, with the yellow one saying "One of 6,112 children", or something like that.
They're EVERYWHERE :|

There is one in downtown chicago that says something to the effect of "Please donate your DNA" with a link to spore.com on the bottom.
They are very clever about trying to get non-gamers interested in this thing.

'Bush' shelter lol
They've got something on the brain... :P

Stopped caring about spore the second I saw the creatures in the game looks like they've been ripped straight out of the muppet show. No thanks.
Besides, this game's been delayed so much it's a wonder anyone even bothers talking about it - and much less playing it.
Native @ Sep 7th 2008 5:59PM
Faar, the game hasn't been delayed, Maxis didn't give the official release date. Except for the 07/09/08, all the other one's were guesses.
What are you talking about?
