Just when you thought Nintendo was out of colors to release the DS in here in North America, along comes the Metallic Silver DS, which is sort of like the DS(s?) you already own except ... it's silver.
This particular color has already been in Japan and Europe for a touch under a year, so we have to figure Nintendo forgot to send them here and just found a few thousand pallets of them ... or they knew we just weren't ready for the arrestingly shininess of it all. And we may still not be. We'll find out on Sept. 7.

September 7th? Whoops. I might be getting yelled at today.
I don't understand why a color variation like that is street dated, anyhow. It's not coming out alongside any major releases that I know of, and it's a boring fuckin color anyway. The boxes were barely distinguishable from the white ones.

Indeed. The only thing stopping me from trading up to a new DS is the fact that there isn't one that's all cobalt-blue. (It's not just the color issue, either: there's been a semi-dead pixel on my lower screen for two years, and while I don't notice it as much anymore, nothing seems to fix it and it's REALLY irritating when I do notice it.)

Good. I'd hate if my iPod was my only device covered in fingerprints and microscratches.

I already saw those for sale at a Walmart in San Diego. I thought they were the white ones but nope... they were the silver ones.
And this was this past Saturday.
