Mirror's Edge receiving 'exclusive' DLC on PS3
While dismissing reports of timed PlayStation 3 exclusivity, EA has revealed that its run-jump-and-climb-em-up Mirror's Edge did cut an "exclusive marketing agreement" with the folks at Sony. Elaborating further, an EA spokesman told Eurogamer, "Exclusive downloadable content will be offered on the PlayStation Network."Ah, but that's not the same as offering downloadable content exclusively, now is it?
As we've all come to learn, the industry's use of the word "exclusive" is about as persistent as a piece of cotton candy in your mouth. For all we know (which, admittedly, isn't a lot), the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Mirror's Edge could be receiving their own "exclusive" downloadable bits. Probably some designer gloves and elbow pads for our squirrely protagonist.

It's EA, Timed exclusive if anything, regardless of what they say. EA wants as much money as it can get.

Your Avatar = Chakan = The Forever Man = Bad-Ass.
Which means +1 for the avatar choice.
Vincent @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:28PM
Ya, Great Game.
XBL: The Forever Man
PSN: Theforeverman
Boffo the Sock @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:51PM
Ah...another one of the sequels that never were. I remember there was supposed to be a Chakan game for the Dreamcast. They even went so far as a couple tech demos, but the game never saw the light of day. I hear some of the design stuff ended up in Blood Omen 2, but I chose not to believe those rumors. I prefer to imagine that the Chakan game would have been good.

GTA4 Exclusive content = win
Mirrors Edge exclusive content = ?

SoulBlade @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:44PM
Shagittarius = ignored

Oh Snap!
pavs @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:51PM

WRE @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:09PM
So how is that grammar class going, pavs?
Tiptup300 @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:11PM
OH no you didnt!
Shagittarius @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:13PM
I really don't see how that comment offended anyone, its just an observation. I don't even see how anyone could deny that being the current state of popular new opinion.
Oh and Soulblade = Nobody

Whereas you are an internationally renowned gaming pundit famed for their wit and even-handedness. I'm ask you for an interview for my newspaper but I imagine you're too busy having cocktails this weekend with Miyamoto and Will Wright.
Shagittarius @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:27PM
Famous pundit or not I sure can unintentionally get all the trolls into a nerd rage pretty easy...

"I sure can unintentionally get all the trolls into a nerd rage pretty easy..."
Phew, like that's any hard? Amateurs...
I kid.

“I really don't see how that comment offended anyone, its just an observation. I don't even see how anyone could deny that being the current state of popular new opinion”.
“Oh and Soulblade = Nobody”
Well maybe that’s the problem you are going for the popular opinion in other words you are trying to be cool with an opinion that is incorrect.
How can you tell GTA content equals Win and ME isn’t when we haven’t heard anything about the additional content?
Sadly you got the Wii part right, damn lazy devs.
Oh yeah Soulblade didn’t said anything that could be considered as a direct insult so chill mothaf*cka!
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:10PM
The hell does the Wii have anything to do with this?
Sinister Rouge @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:25PM
"I sure can unintentionally get all the trolls into a nerd rage pretty easy"
What can I say? I like to prey on the weak.
SoulBlade @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:45PM
Vegeta: exactly.
Mr.ESC @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:39PM
I still don't understand how a skinny person can beat the crap out of a cop using a heavy armor unless her gloves are like the ones from the old Bugs bunny cartoons.
Anyhow awesome.
AoE @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:05PM
um... it's a video game. In a world where blue rodents fight evil scientists hell bent on turning everything into robots, fat plumbers save princesses in psychedelic drug land (excuse me, the mushroom kingdom), and pirates play dodgeball with ninjas... you have to admit THIS isn't much of a stretch at all.
cranium @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:39PM
didn't they try the same thing with Assassin's Creed? didn't it not work?
Mr.ESC @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:48PM
Ubi =/= Ea.
I know is easy to make this mistake because both of them are teh evil corps but there are differences:
Ea makes good games once in a while and after that they milk players to death while Ubi releases one successful game every full moon with the idea of bastardizing it in the future in order to make profit except that with AC they don’t even waited for the game to be acclaimed to start shoving crap down our throats.
Also I’m pretty sure the DLC was promised for the Pc version that was a little worst than the console versions.

cranium @ Sep 2nd 2008 7:26PM
all im talking about is how assassin's creed was marketed with a distinct bias towards the PS3 version and the 360 version still outsold it.

I appreciate the understanding of the nuances of the English language in this post.
Metal_Gear @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:44PM
I hate when companies say "Your getting exclusive content!" ... so? What am I supposed to do with that information? Tell me what this content will be mabey then I could be even a tiny bit excited. Until then, this game looks pretty cool (for a FPS) but it is still in my 'Wait for Platinum' list.
GoldenS1104 @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:52PM
The guns are not a main part of the game so I would hardly call this an FPS. In fact, they encourage you not to use any guns (they have achievements for avoiding them, guns also slow you down and make you unable to climb shit, etc.). If anything it is a first person platformer.
Metal_Gear @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:34PM
What the hell is a FPP? What is this article filed under? And if you can shoot in it (be it encouraged or not) isn't it still a FPS?
Hyams @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:46PM
Shooting isn't the main focus of the game, ergo it's not a FPS.
Calling Mirror's Edge a FPS would almost be like calling MGS4 a mech game, because you control the Mk.II at almost any point in the game.
farfisa @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:47PM
Maybe there's a mode where she plays twing-twang.
Whoppy @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:56PM
:D
Sixaxis support for that minigame would be pervtastic.
Hyams @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:47PM
If Kai were in Mirror's Edge it would be a first day buy for me.
Tiptup300 @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:14PM
What was "twing twang?" I was thinking of renting that game to find out.
Jakka(Naked Peach Brigade) @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:32PM
There was this mentally retarded girl who thought of killing with a crossbow as of game called "twing-twang".
Thus - "We may need you to play some twing-twang..."
baby sea tuna @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:34PM
Don't get your hopes up. It's nothing dirty, just a frustrating SIXAXIS aftertouch minigame.
Metal_Gear @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:35PM
First rule of Twing Twang, dont talk about Twing Twang. You want to know, you'll have to rent! ^_^
Heavenly Sword is a good but short game, well worth a rent or even a buy now its prices will be pretty low.
Metal_Gear @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:37PM
P.S. What I will say is Twing Twang is probably the best executed use of Sixaxis.
Hyams @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:50PM
Said girl is Kai, my avatar.
I wouldn't really call her mentally retarded, as she sort of 'grows up' later in the game.
Whoppy @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:19PM
Twing twang was the hidden frotting mini game in Heavenly Sword.
Albanian_Killa @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:28PM
Finally, about time the PLAYSTATION 3 gets some love. I'm getting sick of exclusive DLC though. The whole idea is a joke. Either exclusive game or all sides get the same treatment. That's how I like it, but I'm glad DICE is at least showing some love for the PS3, which is getting none at all by many third-party developers.
Hyams @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:55PM
Yay, we get exclusive content...
... that we have to pay extra for?
Well, fuck that.
Marty @ Sep 2nd 2008 6:56PM
Will it feature more "asian" women with oddly misshapen faces?
Ihavepants @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:31PM
